The distance
It's the thing I do
I get close
Everyone starts to like me
Ask me to be with them
Then I smile
Genuine and pure bliss
But the voices start
They say
'They'll leave you'
'They hate you and pity you
That's why they're still here'
'Distance is the best option'
'Remember nothing last forever'
So I slowly leave
In fear they'll leave me
First
And I'll be happy, content with their friendship
I block out their confused faces
I block out their pleas to stay
I block out the things I felt
The shell comes to help
Building the walls again
Thicker and stronger
Taller and tougher
So I won't remember the pain
So I can't feel anything
Of course the adults will
Be disappointed
Once again
