5: Nauseating Spidey Senses
Piper:
I don't know which was scarier, falling off of a building or being saved by Spiderman. A sigh of relief escaped my lips as the web shooting hero set me gently on the sidewalk.
"Are you okay?" He asked, his look of concern showing clearly through his mask.
"I'm just fine," I lied, wiping the sweat from my temples and adjusting my skirt. I tried to stop the nauseated feeling that was churning in my stomach. I started to say thank you, but the red and blue suited man was already swinging away.
Finally, my stomach settled, and it was most definitely time for coffee. I walked down the sidewalk, heading toward the parking garage.
Why couldn't he have thrown me off the side of the building where my car was parked?
I looked at my watch to see three o'clock. "Lucy is officially gonna kill me." I pulled out my phone quickly, letting her know why I was running late. I slipped it back in my pocket and looked up just in time to be trampled by a tall, dark skinned man.
"Wow, walk much?" I mumbled, pushing myself to my feet.
"You really should look where you're going," he said, smiling.
"You are quite the gentleman. I hope we meet again," I said, speed walking as fast as I could to the nearest coffee shop. I needed more caffeine before any more social interactions.
After two Java chip frappuccinos were in my hands, I was off to the car. I arrived at the courthouse just in time to see a very flustered Lucy and a very well toned man conversing in the lobby. Lucy rushed to the car.
"Who's the hunk?" I asked, handing Lucy her frappe, "If a guy like that was talking to me, I wouldn't run away."
"What? Oh, um... a Mr. Rogers, I think... I just bumped into him, literally" she replied, nervously blushing.
I laughed. "Was it a lovely day in the neighborhood?" Lucy simply shook her head at the pun. "Well, I guess I wasn't the only one who had a super encounter today." I said with a smirk.
------------
Lucy and I hurried home, screaming along to songs on the radio and explaining our day in every detail. "What do you want for dinner?" I said, hanging my coat on the rack.
She wisely chose. "Chinese food would be wonderful."
"Superb choice." I replied grabbing my phone. You know it's sad when emergency calls on your phone include your mother, father, sister, and the local China house.
"They don't deliver. I'll go get it, and be right back." I grabbed my coat and ran to the car, hoping the food would be ready by the time I got there. I hated waiting forty-five minutes for food even if it was good.
"I have an order for Sam Wilson." I heard as I walked in. I found that my go to seat was open and I went for it. When I sat down, I noticed a Brooklyn accent that seemed familiar. When I looked up, there he was, the one and only Star Spangled Man with a Plan.
"Hello, Steve," I said, walking toward the muscular man.
"I'm sorry, ma'am, have we met?"
"No, but... you're... gonna remember me." I waited as a short girl opened the door to the China house, then blared, "Oh my gosh! It's Captain America!"
A crowd of people surrounded Cap immediately. I slipped out when I heard, "Order for Peter Piper!" Then I turned to see a both confused and annoyed Steve Rogers. I walked to my car with a smile on my face. But then I felt a churn in my stomach. Maybe I was just hungry.
