Josiah sat silently as he listened to his dumb ass friend explain how he fucked things up with Bri.

"Bro she was mad and I mean I get that, but damn. How you offended 'cause I want you to get tested?"

"Keem, you told the girl you usually just fuck other girls with condoms, but you want her to get tested before you even use a condom with her."

He shook his head, "But Ian mean it like that and with the shit I heard about her, Ian taking no chances."

Hakeem wasn't trying to be rude or funny, but Brielle was a whole "prostitute" at one point. It really didn't matter to him how many bodies she had, he just wanted to make sure she was good.

"When the last time you got tested anyway?" Josiah asked, "While you telling people to get tested and shit."

"I went last month. I only fuck the same people anyway."

"You could've told her, "let's go together" or some.
Nigga just said "I can't fuck witchu' 'cause you got that shit."

Hakeem sighed, "You see what happened to Grace. Ian never had shit and that's 'cause I'm careful."

"Lowkey the only reason you feel like that is 'cause you listening to some other niggas. You ain't never not fucked a hoe and told her you wanted to see her test results."

The only problem Josiah had with the situation is that he felt like Hakeem was trying to handle Brielle. To him, she was cool, and she was doing what she felt like she had to.

"Ian never fucked nobody with that many bodies either."

"You don't know how many bodies she got bitch."

There was silence before Hakeem asked, "You must be on some shit Ion know about?"

It wasn't anything like that, Josiah just thought it was fucked up that he'd say some shit like that to Bri, "You got it Keem. Ima fuck witcha' later."

"I haven't told him anything." Grace spoke quietly into the phone, "I know you didn't do it on purpose."

The man that she was talking to let out a sigh of relief, "I love you G. If I knew I had that shit I would've never fucked- man I wouldn't have even came around you."

That was a lie. He knew he had herpes, and while he wasn't trying to give it to her, one thing led to another and they had sex without a condom.

He didn't know he was having an outbreak at the time, and was too drunk or careless to pay attention.

"You need me to get you a phone?" He asked, "You need anything?"

"Just a phone. Hakeem still hasn't given me mine back."

"And stop letting that nigga talk to you crazy. If he touch you, call me."

Grace smiled, finding his words comforting, "Come get me tonight."

The next week or so was awkward. Brielle barely said anything to Hakeem besides a greeting, and he returned that energy.

They were distant with one another, no where near the friends they once were.

"You'll pass me the hotsauce?" Hakeem asked since Brielle had been standing in front of the cabinet for about 5 minutes now.

"Get it yourself."

"You in the way. How I'ma get it if you standing in front of the cabinet?"

Brielle didn't answer, responding to the message from Travis with a smile, until she felt Hakeem's chest against her back, him reaching for the hot sauce he'd just asked for.

His eyes went to the phone, "Who you texting?"

"None of your business. And stop standing so close to me before you catch something."

"Bri can you chill the fuck out? Ian never said you had anything."

"You might as well had." She responded, turning to face him, "Now move."

Hakeem's arms were on either side of Brielle keeping her in place, "It didn't have anything to do witchu'.

She waited for him to elaborate, and he did, telling her about Grace's situation and asking her not to say anything to anyone about it.

"Why would I?" Brielle asked, "I like Grace, and even if I didn't, I don't repeat shit."

He nodded, still having yet to remove his arms, "So that was fucking with my head."

Brielle's voice was low, "It still hurt my feelings."

Her admission surprised Hakeem because he wasn't used to the women he talked to speaking on their feelings.

Brielle on the other hand, was used to telling people, who she thought would care, how she felt about certain situations. It was something her dad instilled in her.

Taking the opportunity to apologize, Hakeem lowered himself to eye level with her, "I'm sorry."

They stared quietly at one another before Brielle reached up a hand to pinch him, "As you should be. Get out my face."

"Damn Ion get a hug?" He questioned while rubbing the area, "An "I accept your apology?""

Brielle snorted, "If you didn't do it in the first place, there wouldn't have been a reason to apologize. Remember that."

"Niggas say one lil smart thing and think they Moses."

"Moses parted the sea....What is wrong with you?"

Hakeem smiled slightly, "iight so who you wanna be from the Bible?"

"Nobody." Brielle stressed while shaking her head, "This can't be real life."

He continued to try to bait her into joining the conversation until her phone rang, both of them looking at the counter.

Brielle knew who it was because only two people had her number, one of which was standing in front of her right now.

And the other one being Travis.

It shouldn't have been a problem to answer for him since she and Hakeem weren't together, but she still felt something in the pit of her stomach that she couldn't quite place.

She let the phone go to voicemail, restarting the conversation, "I can be Mary?"

Hakeem stared at her, "You could've answered Bri. Youn' owe me no loyalty."

"I know. It probably wasn't anybody but Scam Likely."

He knew she was lying, "Them niggas worrisome huh?"

When Hakeem told her she owed him no loyalty, he meant that. She could do whatever she wanted. For some reason though, she seemed to feel like she had to lie to him.

So he let her believe that he believed her.

Later that night Brielle found herself in the car with Travis, driving to no where in particular.

"Man let me out this hoe before I die." Travis teased, "You done blew my high anyway."

"Fight me!" She laughed in response, "I can drive dude."

"You can't though. Pull over right here real quick."

Following his instructions, Brielle slowly pulled onto the side of the street, climbing across the armrest after Travis had gotten out.

"Where we going now?"

Travis was fixing the seat, "I'm finna drop you back off. I gotta go do some shit.... Why you sit up on the steering wheel like this?"

"To see?"

"You ain't even gotta be be that close lil blind ass."

Brielle could see very well, which was how she saw Grace exiting a house to climb into the front seat of a car.

Noticing how she'd gone quiet, Travis followed her line of sight, "You know her?"

"Yeah. We went to school together." That was easier than explaining that she lived with Grace's brother, and she also didn't want to tell Travis too much.

"Do you know her?"

"That's my lil cuz."

Her eyes flashed to look at him, "Like actual cousin?"

"Yeah. Remember the nigga I took a charge for? That's his lil sister."

So not only were Travis and Hakeem cousins, they didn't like each other, and she was friends with both of them.

Before she could think of what to say, Travis continued talking, "I shouldn't have been surprised anyway. That nigga daddy a snitch so I guess pussy shit in his blood."

"Travis... y'all have the same blood."

"His mama my auntie smart mouth ass girl." He looked at her with a smirk, "I can't wait to handle to that shit."

She ignored his statement, still busy looking at the car, remembering that it was the same car that chased she and Kyser.

She began connecting the dots, and suspected that Mario was the one who gave Grace herpes.

Had she not gone to planned parenthood the day after Hakeem said that stupid shit, she would've been worried that she had it.

"She bucked out." Travis shook his head while pulling away from the curb, "Niggas got her on camera and everything. I'll send that shit to her bitch ass brother and break his heart."

"Don't do that." Brielle insisted, "That's some lame shit and you wouldn't wanna find out something like that from a random number."

That wasn't why she didn't want Travis to send it.

She had a very different reason.
