5: Ultxa nìmun

This morning Jake was pulled from breakfast by Trudy. She and I are familiar but not enough to really know her. Norm has taken a liking to her though.

Grace thought it was odd that he was being pulled out. But she didn't share it with me.

"Get ready and pack your things, We'll be heading out soon."

"Okay!" I linked in early and got up. Going out in just a tank top and pajama shorts isn't a great idea so, I grabbed another pair of shorts and a t-shirt. I put on the same necklace Sylwanin made before she died, and the bracelet Tsu'tey had made to show me how they were made. I remember it well.

"You do not know how to make a fkxile?[I use it for jewelry but it literally means necklace]" He asked with a smile, "All Na'vi know how to make something so simple." He was referring to a necklace, but I didn't have enough material so instead he made me a thick bangle of a bracelet.

I smiled at the memory before sliding some basic survival tools, a knife, some rope, etc, into a small bag before waiting patiently with Trudy at her Scorpion helicopter.

--------------------

The ride out was simple as always, tetrapteron flocks, some stingbats, and hexapedes. We landed in a clearing outside of the Omatikaya boarders.

"Shut it down! We're gonna stay a while." Grace called to Trudy. I stepped out as the blades stopped moving. I began looking around for those hexapedes we had almost landed on. They're so cool looking to me. They're the only fauna I've had a good look at.

Norm got out and forgot his pack.

"Norm, your pack." Grace reminded. I chuckled and looked at the moss on the ground. It's surrounded by grass-like plants which grow all over Pandora. The flora is surprisingly a lot like Earth.

"Stay with the ship. One idiot with a gun is enough." Grace sneered. I hate grunts as much as her, maybe even more. But I choose to ignore them.

I often went shoeless on these since we didn't go too deep, but Grace asked that I wear shoes. So reluctantly, I did. So, we were trudging through the forest loudly with our shoes and gun and bags.

Jake looked anxious and when those Syaksyuk's came by, he nearly shit himself.

"Prolemuris. They're not aggressive." Grace rolled her eyes, "Relax marine, you're making me nervous." I chuckled.

"I don't think it's funny." Jake whined.

"Well I think it's, uh, funny." Norm said nervously.

We kept moving on and Norm was chatting while we moved. I stopped every-so-often to look around.

"Keep moving E." Jake reminded. So I kept moving.

Soon Grace had found a spot to take samples. Norm watched closely, but I wasn't the sample taking type. I began climbing a nearby tree before taking a moment to rest.

"So, that is signal transduction from this root to the root of the tree next to it." She began, "So, we should take a sample." she encouraged Norm. It was like she was teaching all over again. She looked happy. Jake went off to scout so I hopped down and joined him.

"What are you doing?"

"Following you."

"Well, duh, but why are you following me?"

"Just figured that the company would be nice." I responded. He nodded we found some loreyu[helicordian, the orange spiral plants]. He gleefully touched them before they all sunk away to reveal the hammerhead titanotheres.

Jake raised his gun.

"Jake stop, the bullets won't do anything." I warned.

"Then what? Run?"

"No, it's a territorial threat display, if you run, he'll charge." Grace warned us.

"We have to hold our ground." I warned.

The beast ran up to us to which Jake met with a roar of his own. I hissed at it, it ran away and Jake assumed it was his own doing.

My ears flicked to behind us. I pulled Jake out of the way during his "I'm a man" moment.

"Oh shit." He cursed at the Thanator. "Run don't run? What?"

"Fuck, c'mon!" I dragged Jake away as we split up. The thanator chased Jake but I kept going until I saw him jump off a cliff. And then I noticed the thanator.

"Nice palulukan[thanator], surely you don't want to eat something gamey like me?" I tried to persuade. It lunged for me but I dove into the water. I saw it try to grab me but hesitated at the water and missed.

"Jake!" I looked around. I swam down river to find him. I never saw him resurface.

"Jake! Where are you?" I shouted, "Fuck." I hissed.

I eventually left the water and tried to find Jake.

Eventually I gave up but kept moving. I think I was going south, I knew their clan was south of this side of the river so I stuck to it until nightfall.

I soon grew tired and rested periodically. I heard whispers and it made me jolt up.

"It is not poison this time?" I heard a voice mocking. It went silent suddenly and the warriors burst out from the thick ferns to find me beginning to stand.

"Be calm people, I am not here to cause harm." I put my hands up and I dropped my small bag, "I lost my group. I need directions if you are willing to help me."

I heard sounds and whispers of disapproval and anger and sudden shock. I recognized a face.

"Tsu'tey? Is that you?" I asked. The stern man upon his Pa'li was just as I remember him. He had grown up. Grown stronger, taller, and it seems he has become important to the clan.

He didn't seem to recognize me. He must have blocked out all memories of the incident to move on.

I then realized what they were shocked about. A woodsprite, atokirina, had landed my head and settled on my shoulder.

"A sign from Eywa." I knew it but they said it.

"Bring her." Tsu'tey blurted.

"But eykyu![Leader!]"

"Do as I say." I was bound and put on the back of on of their pa'li. We moved throughout the forest for a while before Jake was captured.

"Jake! You're alive!" I exclaimed. He gave an unsure smile. And then Neytiri descended from a root above. I had seen her maybe twice before now.

"Calm, people, calm." She warns, "Tsu'tey, what are you doing?"

"These demons are forbidden here." He stated.

"What about your demon?" She pointed at me.

"There has been a sign. Tsahik will decide her fate."

"Then bring them both. Eywa sent us a sign." I felt rising fear in my chest. Maybe Eywa wants us dead?

"Bring him." Instead of giving Jake a seat, they force him to run.

We rode into hometree with Jake behind us.

"Eytukan. There has been a sign from Eywa. The all mother forbade us from killing these two." He scoffed and had Jake and I stand before him.

"Ma sempul, oel ngati kameie.[Father, I see you]" Neytiri greeted her father.

"Meswiräti, ngal pelun molunge fìtseng?[These(two) creatures, why did you bring them here]" His gravelly hollow voice echoed.

"Oel pot tspìmìyang, tsakrr za'u ayngia ta Eywa.[I was going to kill him, but there was a sign from Eywa]"

"Poltxe oe, san zene kea uniltìranyu, ke ziva'u fìtseng.[I have said, no dream walker will come to this place!]" He shouted.

"What's he saying?" Jake asked.

"Ketepeu fehew akewong.[His alien smell fills my nose]" the olo'eyktan mocked.

"Hey, what's he saying?" Jake asked a little louder. I whacked him with my tail.

"My father is deciding whether to kill you." Neytiri answered.

"Your father." Jake stated before reaching out his hand to greet him, "It's nice to meet you sir-" Hisses and angry Na'vi pulled him back before I hear a powerful voice.

"Kehe![no!]"

"Tsayswiräti lonu! Aynga neto rivik![release these creatures! Step back!]" She yelled while coming down the spiral, "Fayhetuwongti oel stìyeftxaw.[I will look at these aliens]" She announced.
