Part 57
"Ooff.."
They both grunted as they fell on the cold cement floor still didn't grasp the fact about each other. Both eyes are closed and breathing hitched feeling each other's warmth and something familiar about those scent.
Simultaneously they both opened their eyes and gasped at each other's view. Their mouth fell apart, their breath synced with other and the familiar scent they both missed for the past ten years finally knocked them into the reality.
Alex whom still had his body pinned on Henry's now muscular build smirked at his view underneath him while Henry had his eyebrow furrowed at Alex's smirking at him. "Alex?" Henry whispers causing Alex to smirk further at him still pinned below Alex's body.
"We should stop meeting like this Hen." Alex adds and Henry eyes starts to glisten before he finally realized they are both still on the floor with Luke slipped away from him. "Get off me!" Henry starts pushing Alex off of him and he obeyed painfully thinking that Henry would at least had the same reaction he does. Alex stood up first offering Henry his palm which surprised Henry by staring at him but later he took his offer.
Alex pulled Henry up from the floor and he hissed in pain over the center but he hides it well from him. His eyes lurked around for Luke and grabbed his phone to call Shan. It took him two rings before he answered Henry's call.
"Did you got him?" He asks.
"No, no one came out yet. Are you alright?" He asks and Henry eyes turns back towards Alex still standing in front of him in disbelief.
"Y-Yeah, I'm alright." He says before he disconnected the call.
"Hen?" Alex starts but Henry refused to look at him in his eyes before he turned and tried to find Luke. "Not now Alex. I need to find someone." He says disappearing into the corner faster before Alex could register.
But Alex won't budge. Ten years is more than enough for him, for both of them so he followed Henry before finding him stuck on a dead end. Just as he turned to escape on the other way, Alex had himself blocked the exit and Henry trapped in between him and the wall. "Hen, please." He tried again.
"Alex stop. Not right now. I need to-" he tried to escape Alex again but failed when Alex snaked his arm around Henry's waist and pushed him back where he stood. "Hen. Please." He said again and Henry shook his head running his palm over his face.
"I'm busy Alex. Please." He pushed pasts him but Alex caught his wrist pulling him back and Henry tried to pull himself away from his grip.
"Not now, I need to find him." He says not wanting to look at Alex on his face knowing how he would break right there and then.
"Henry! Stop!" He yelled after Henry finally pushed him off from Alex's strong grip and he turned abruptly with eyes blazing in fury. "What?! What could you possibly want me to say Alex? That I couldn't get over you for the past ten years and now we can just pick up where we left off?" Henry yelled back and Alex stepped closer closing on their distance but Henry held out his palm for him.
"Don't." He stopped him with tears pooling in his eyes. Alex stares at Henry standing in his long black suede coat wearing his expensive suit underneath still had the same blonde hair only combed neatly to the side. He might not look like the Henry he left ten years ago, frail, weak and emotionally trauma.
The Henry that stood before him is brighter, smarter, yes older from his look but also cold and emotionless. Maybe Nora is right, they both lost each other so much, they lost themselves in the process.
"Henry." Alex called his name again and he felt like he need to call him over and over making up for the last ten years for unable to say it though his lips.
"What Alex? Just say what you need to say so I can go." He says desperately with tears still glistening in his eyes. Alex couldn't stop staring at Henry standing only a feet away from him. He couldn't believe that Henry Fox, his former boyfriend, the one that he had lost ten years ago standing right in front of him like a dream he used to have back then. He worries that if he woke up, all of these would disappear and Henry would slipped through his fingers again and disappear from his life.
So he did what he had been dreaming the most in his life. The one thing he feels right to do at the moment, he stepped in a swift move, pulling Henry by his neck and crashed their lips together.
Henry was caught in surprise when Alex pulls him for a deep kiss and he fought at first pushing Alex away but the stronger he pushed, the stronger Alex pulled him back for a kiss and finally he gave in. Henry raised his hand brushing up his fingers through Alex's curls feeling the familiar softness in between his skin.
They both desperately at each other's throat sharing a breath before Alex pushed Henry's body against the wall behind him. Henry gasped at the contact before his lips found Alex's again and continued their heated kiss. Their hands roamed around each other's body feeling Alex's hand lifting his left thigh letting his hip pushed deeper into Henry's before he hooked his legs around Alex's calf.
"Alex, stop." Henry pushed him a little on his chest earning him a whined when their lips finally detached from each other. Henry palmed his burning chest feeling his familiar sharp pain returned before he pushed himself away from Alex's panting self and placed a distance between them again.
"Why? Do you have someone in your life right now?" Alex asks brushing his hair back trying to calm his nerves from their heated kiss earlier. "I need to focus. I can't do this right now." Henry replies shortly before he saw Alex's eyes caught something behind him. He turned to see it was Luke standing behind him peaking his head a little from the corner and he sighs in relief.
"Luke thank god." Henry says and Alex caught in surprised. "Wait, you know him?" He asks stepping next to Henry as Luke approached right in front of them.
"Henry?" Luke asks and Henry's face shocked at his knowledge of his first name. "You're his friend?" He said again and Henry turned to face Alex smiling next to him. "Yeah Luke, the friend I told you about." Alex adds and Henry still confused. "Friends kiss each other?" Luke asks and both Henry and Alex turned to face each other feeling embarrassed by their action.
"N-No, Luke it's just it's- uhm, it's complicated. Come on. We're late." Henry says holding out his palm for Luke and he grabbed it reluctantly.
"Wait, you're the Hope Foundation guy? You're the one stealing Luke away from us?" Alex says following them through the corridor for an exit. "Yes Alex, it's me. In case you forgot, I have a niece name Hope whom you might remember especially the day they named her?" Henry snapped still walking faster with Luke in his grip headed to their exit.
"And you couldn't figure out Diaz Abogados is mine?" Alex asks coyly turning Henry on his heels and they both collides to each other again. Alex smirked grew wider when he felt Henry tried to distance himself especially when Alex had his hand on his waist and Luke stares at these two idiots awkwardly standing in front of the other.
"Do you have any idea how many Diaz there is in this country, and your neighbors? Also in Philippines? Or in Spain? Or the fact that Diaz is one of the most common name there is in Latin community?" Henry barks feeling annoyed at Alex's smirked. "Do you look for me at least?" He asks and Henry furrowed his eyebrow back at his question. "Why would I? Do you?" He asks and Alex smirked shifts to a frown. "N-No." He whispered quietly.
"WE have to go." Henry say again pulling Luke next to him before exited the door and rushed to the car with Shan waited outside.
As soon as he saw Henry, he opened the car door for them and Henry slides in after Luke on the other side in a rush earning Shan a curious look. He couldn't understand why Henry seems like he's running away from something or someone but he didn't exactly ask knowing he would tell him eventually.
"GO!" Henry yelled at his driver which he never did before and Shan turned to look at him curiously before his head turned towards Luke next to him in the middle between him and Henry. The car is spacious enough for all three of them and Luke isn't exactly that big to take much space.
Shan noticed how the driver put on the gear and starts driving when Luke wasn't even strapped with seatbelts yet so he attempted to help. But when his arm reaches for the seatbelt between him and Henry's hip, he flinched and screamed, "NO!" It caught Henry's attention when Shan raised his palm up, "S-Sorry, just try to put on the seatbelt for the kid. Don't want him thrown off the car." Shan admits and Henry noticed that behavior before, in him.
He reaches for the belt next to him and handed to Luke before he turned to look up Henry's face. "You can do it yourself. Safety first." He said and Luke grabbed it from Henry's fingers before putting it on his side clicking the metal piece in place.
Henry turned his head towards the screen shield behind him looking back at the motel as the car drove off and sighed when he didn't notice Alex present behind him. His head turned to see Shan staring at him and his face covers with worry.
"Are you okay?" He asks worriedly and Henry turned his gaze back to the window next to him. He didn't say much only letting his finger covers his lips from trembling and a single tear fell on his cheek. "Hen? What is it?" He asks unable to reach for him with Luke in between him.
Henry couldn't hide tears anymore seeing that it's pointless for him to hide anything from Shan but he didn't expect when Luke told him instead. "It was Alex. They were kissing." He says and Shan's eyes blazed widely at him.
"Quiet." Henry told him and Luke retracts back into his seat and Henry wiped off his tears with his fingers. "Alex? As in-" Shan asks and Henry clicked his tongue. "He's the Diaz lawyer. Fuck-" Henry mutters rubbing his face with his palm and sniffed. "Fuck!" He cursed again pressing his palm over his mouth before he broke into more tears and Shan worries when Henry tried to catch his breath in his sobs.
"Dean stop the car." Shan instructed him and he nods trying to find a safe spot for them to stop but Henry protest, "N-No, straight to the shelter. We don't want this little rascal slipped again into the streets." Luke turned his head towards Henry next to him feeling anger rising in his gaze. Dean turned to look at Shan from the rear view mirror and he nods looking desperately helpless at this point.
.
As they reached the shelter, Henry handed him back to the matron and she greeted Luke with a smile. "Shower, dinner then bed mister." She says pulling Luke by his shoulder and Henry watched how he turned to face Henry behind him. He slipped through the matron's grip and catches on Henry before wrapping his arm around him. "Take me with you." He says and Henry frowned at his gesture.
"I can't Luke. This place will provide comfort and safety for you. I'll be back in the morning to check on you." He says pushing Luke off his body and the look on Luke's face made his heart dropped. "I promised." He says as the matron took Luke away from his grip. "Don't make promises you can't keep Henry." He says and the matron hushed him.
"Shh young man. You address him as Mr Fox or Sir." She says and Luke turned from looking at her back to Henry. "It's alright. I'll see you tomorrow Luke." He says and Luke glared at him before he followed the matron inside to get himself cleaned.
He sighed feeling the weight of his shoulder weaken him as he leaned against the wall next to him. "Should I be worried?" Shan finally asks and Henry stares at the green marble colored floor remembering the motel grey faded green floor. He shook his head weakly before he exhaled his breath longly.
"It's late, you should go." Henry says and Shan agreed.
"I'll take the cab, you let Dean dropped you off and I can tell Dean to go home after." Shan says and Henry shook his head at him. "No, take Dean, I need a walk." He says and Shan pulled him back by his sleeves.
"Its fate Hen. You didn't asks for this, you didn't plan it, how would you explain that one of the law firm in this city had you guys reunited." Shan tried and Henry shook his head at him. "Not what I had in mind." He says and Shan could see the glistening tears are back. "Then what is?" Shan asks and Henry sighed pacing before him in the foyer.
The sound of the kids running and the yelling of the staffs telling them to go to bed made Henry stop and stares at them. He had created a home for those kids and he was proud of it. They are happy, he hope, providing meal, shelter and education for them while their own parents couldn't. This is his life, this is what made him happy but why Alex kissing him bothers him too much.
"Hen?" Shan asks again seeing Henry lost in his thoughts staring at those kids upstairs. "Why now?" He whispered and Shan stares at him.
"After all these years I came here. Why now? Why suddenly he showed up in my life when I had Luke's case on my desk one year ago?" Henry asks as he walked out the shelter followed by Shan. The sudden breeze of New York night hits him on his face as he sat on the steps watching the people walked the pavement ignoring everything around them.
Shan climbed down the steps watching as Henry took a seat slowly with his palm clasped together under his chin.
"I can't do this right now Shan. I could lose focus on Luke's cases and drifted from the main point of helping him, getting the justice he needs. " Shan nods pressing his lips together. "Or you guys could joined forces and work together. I don't see the case would get any different if you both help this kid."
Henry sighed scratching the back of his neck shaking his head at Shan's idea before he tilted his chin at him. "Go home Shan, please. I'll see you tomorrow." He says and Shan nods before he steps towards the car parked on the side, "Good night Henry." He wished and Henry smiled, "Goodnight Shan."
Henry watched as the car drove off into the night and the crowd dissipate slowly letting the streets lesser with people. Henry reached for his coat pocket staring at the thick box in his hand the size of his palm before he flipped it open. He carried it with him for years feeling the necessities to keep it close to him. Somehow having it inside his pocket made him stronger especially when he couldn't have him in his life.
He stares at the bracelet he bought for Alex years ago, custom made when he was in Australia. It was pure nine beads of black opal gemstones that Henry had carved a letter of Alex's name on each beads with gold streak.
He was startled when he heard the emergency door banged open and immediately put the box back in his coat pocket. He watched the emergency ladder slides down and saw a small frail thin boy climbed out before he took the jump to the ground. "Unbelievable." He says before he stood and soon as the boy stood from the ground and gasped at the sight of Henry standing behind him with his arm crossed over his chest.
"So that's how you escaped from this place." He says and Luke sighed defeated. "Are you mad?" He asks and Henry smirked, "I'm actually impressed." He says looking up at the emergency door and the metal ladder before Luke looked up to meet his gaze, confused.
"I can't be here." Luke whispered and Henry sighed staring at the building next to them. "Alright, come with me." He told him raising his hand over for him but he took a step back from Henry's offer. "I'm not bringing you back inside. Follow me." He says and Luke stares at Henry's palm thinking he might be lying but Henry hasn't broke his trust since the day they both met.
He took Henry's hand in his and followed him walking down the pavement headed to some place.
After walking for few blocks they finally stopped at one of the pizza place and Henry starts ordering two slices of classic New York pepperoni pizza for him and Luke with two Pepsi drinks for them.
He had Luke and him seated by the corner facing the window before them watching as the people walked passed them on the outside. Luke stares at the large pizza slice on the paper plate in front of him before he reaches for his soda and took a long sip.
"Slow down. It's not gonna go anywhere." Henry said handing him a tissue when the soda drips down on the corner of his lips and he took it with a shy thanks.
Henry watched how he stares at the pizza slice in front of him causing Henry to wonder why he hasn't touched his meal. "Are you not hungry?" He asks and Luke shook his head before he grabbed the pizza and starts eating it.
Henry smiles when he starts chewing on the food but couldn't help but wonder how this homeless kid survives five years and had more table side manner than any men he had meetings with. He chewed with his mouth close and he sat straight with his legs kept close on the stool with his elbow down on his side.
"Luke can I ask you something?" Henry starts and Luke kept his gaze straight on his drinks dripping water beads on the wooden table. He didn't say much but Henry glad that he broke few words with him.
"Were you alone these past five years you've been running?" He asks and he knows if he can't break words out of him, he can certainly answered his by shaking or nodding his head. So when he shook his head signing he's not alone, Henry sighed in relief. "Do you know that person?" He asks again and this time Luke nods.
"Did he hurt you?" He asks and Luke turned his head swiftly at him before he shook. Henry exhaled his breath in relief when he heard but still that person hold it responsible for whatever happened to Luke for the last five years he had been away. "Did he make you do things you don't want too?" He asks again and this time, Luke remained quiet, not a shake nor a nod and Henry understood completely that he doesn't want to answer him.
Henry watched how he hides the shakiness on his hands from underneath the table. He shook his coat off his body leaving him in his suit before he wrapped it over Luke's frail body and he snuggled into Henry's warmth coat sniffing his scent. "Are you done?" Henry asks as he watched Luke finishes his sliced and nods wiping his mouth with the napkin Henry gave him.
"Are you gonna send me back?" He asks and Henry sighed pressing his lips together. "Why didn't you like it? I put a lot of effort creating that place. There's a sports room, there's a library-"
"On the third floor, I know." He cuts him off and Henry was again impressed. "Yeah, had my few collections there." He said and Luke nods, "I know, I saw the initials, HF on each copy. Today I learned that H stands for Henry. I always thought it's Harry or-" He paused from rambling as they walked side by side on the pavement with Luke wearing Henry's coat oversized his small body. Henry smiled when he paused thinking Henry would get bored of his rambled.
"Which is your favorite?" He asks as they walked unknown where their feet guides them. "All of it." He replies shortly and Henry smirked again. "I like the shelter but-" Luke starts stopping Henry on his walk. "But it reminds me a lot like St Francis." Henry saw how he hides his gaze from Henry and tried his best not to made him upset. "Why? What happened to you five years ago Luke?" He asks and Luke kept his gaze down on the sidewalk. He wished Luke would opened up more but he knew him like the back of his hand when he witness the fidgeting, the longing stares and the lip biting. Exactly how he was when he was as messed up as he is.
He crouched before him in his suit staring at Luke's sullen face before he adjusted the coat over his shoulder and Luke watched Henry's wrist exposed underneath the streetlight and saw the faint scar on his pale skin. Luke edging his little index finger over Henry's wrist stroking the line before Henry realized his gesture.
"I might not know what happened Luke, but I can tell you that I've been where you are. Trust me." Luke looked up to meet Henry's gaze staring deep into his own. "Don't make me go back there. Please." Luke begs and Henry sighed pressing his lips together. "Alright, but where would you want to go then? You can't stay with me though. I live in a hotel and if I brought you home with me they might call the cops on me." Henry says and Luke stares at his face in silent.
.
Alex went home that day feeling like this huge weight dragging him right in the middle of his chest. He wanted to call Nora and let her know everything but somehow when he got home, the only thing he wanted to do was being alone.
He could still feel Henry's soft lips on his as he stares into the mirror and felt the tears running down on his face. Henry's glistening eyes, his soft moans and his hands roamed around Alex's curly hair made him wanted to rip off his clothes and have his way there. He can't believe that after ten years he still had that impact over Alex's heart just like the first time they met.
But that longing turned into rage and he was angry at Henry's blowing him off without having a decent conversation with him. He was mad at him for ten years and now he sees him, all he wants was Henry moaning his name again and all of that rage disappear within seconds.
After shower he cooked for his dinner, a simple steak and boiled potatoes with asparagus for a loner man dinners. He popped opened a bottle of red wine pouring himself a glass before he indulged over his dinner.
Halfway through his meal, he heard the bell door chimed and he sighs placing the napkin over the table next to his plate before he answered it.
He didn't bother to check into the peephole and straight away opening the door revealing the last person he thought he would see standing right in front of him. "Uhm, hey." Henry says equally shocked at Alex standing in his shorts and plain white shirt with a silver necklace hanging by his neck. "Hey." He replied and saw Luke looking up in between the two gentlemen staring at each other.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know it was your place. Luke- " Henry pointed at Luke besides him and felt his heart starts racing at the thought of showing up at Alex's apartment since he doesn't even know where he lives.
"Are you gonna stand there or are you gonna come in?" He asks and Henry cocked his head at his annoyed tone. Luke pulls Henry by his hand inside the apartment and Henry heard Alex closed the door behind him.
"Nice coat Luke," Alex made a comment watching how Luke make himself comfortable on his long couch watching the already opened television that Alex had turned on for noises inside his house. Luke grabbed the remote from the table and starts flipping through the channel until he found his favorite one and sat on the floor. He pulled out his shoes and set it aside neatly against the couch while Henry and Alex stares at him quietly behind the couch.
"He's been here before?" He asks and Alex hummed headed back to his kitchen to finish his dinner. Henry stood in the middle of the apartment unable to decide whether he should stay or leaves and Alex could sense the awkwardness of Henry standing alone with his hand in his pants pocket.
"So, you're just gonna stand there having a wank or you're gonna join me here?" Alex asks from the kitchen and Henry watched Luke making himself comfortable in his coat on the floor with his eyes glued to the screen.
He sighed walking to the kitchen joining Alex seated at the head of the table eating his dinner quietly. "I offered but I only had one, unless you want to share a plate." Alex says bitterly and Henry can sense the anger in his voice.
"I should leave." Henry says fidgeting in his stand and Alex hummed in responds. "You're the authority of leaving. I'm not even surprised." He made the snarking comment and Henry refused to reply.
"Good night Alex." He whispered headed to the door before Luke's soft voice whispered behind the couch, "Henry." He called and Henry turned on his heels, "I'll pick you up tomorrow Luke, be a good boy alright." He says and Luke nods, "Yes sir." He answered and Alex stares at them exchanging wishes before Henry stepped closer to the door.
"You're really gonna leave?" He asks and Henry pressed his lips before he turned to face Alex. He watched how Alex walked closer towards him and his eyes won't stop staring at his handsome face. He put on his fake smile at him as Alex reached closer to Henry by the door.
"Stay." He whispered grabbing Henry's finger on his side and he didn't fight him off. Henry stares at the beautiful contrast of their skin. Alex's tanned with his pale one and when Henry looked up to meet Alex's gaze, he could see the hope in his eyes. But the truth is, he couldn't give that to Alex, not right now.
So instead, Henry leaned, pressing his lips over Alex's cheek with their hands still tangled in each other. "Happy birthday Alex." Henry whispered in his ear as their forehead pressed inhaling each other's scent. Their lips barely touches and Alex wished he could grabbed him by his neck again to kiss him.
Henry released his fingers slowly letting Alex stood there watching him opened the door and smiled at him before he left.
Alex couldn't finished his dinner after Henry's departure and decides to join Luke by the couch only to find him fast asleep on the floor in Henry's coat. He smiled turning the television off before he carried sleeping Luke on the couch.
He remembers the first night he brought Luke back in his apartment, he was paranoid being held in the hospital and Alex was there each day since they held him. He ran off each time from his foster parents and they all decides not to fosters him anymore if he's gonna end up running away from them so Alex placed his name as part legal and unsolicited guardian.
He wanted to remove Henry's coat but Luke looks so comfortable in it inhaling the scent over Henry's sleeves under his nose. So he grabbed the blanket from the closet and wrapped it over Luke's body. His shoes sat neatly on the side and Alex remembers not to move them since the first night he did, Alex moved them by the door and Luke woke up frantic and had panic attack from losing his stuffs. He didn't have much, Alex remembered he had his clothes, his shoes and his memory. Losing one of it would turned Luke into someone he didn't recognized.
Alex decides to go into his room trying to get himself some sleep dreaming about Henry's soft kisses over his lips and his cheek. He get to see him tomorrow again, and he is looking forward to it. For once, he had hope in seeing the day after instead of dreading to wake up in.
A/N: I'm don't know whether people still expecting me to continue writing this story but truthfully my laptop broke. People saying losing someone hurts but losing the one thing that I had since I created the account was worst. Eight years of Wattpad and eight years of my laptop working. More loyal than any of the relationship I ever had. I will continue this story best as I could but hopefully my laptop would survived that too.
