XX. Brittish Expressions
Brittish expressions to use for your Brit-characters:
•Ace= means that something is brilliant, excellent or awesome.
Example: "Are you coming with us tonight?"
"Yeah."
"Ace!"
•Blimey= expressing surprise, often more in an impressive way. Not in shock.
Example; "Blimey, that's a nice goal!"
•Bloke= a man, simply that.
Example: "Harry's a good looking bloke, don't you think?"
•Bloody= used as an expression if anger or emphasising.
Example: (insert Ronald Weasley voice) "Bloody hell!"
•Bollocks= used as a curse word or as emphasising such as Bloody, but also refers to a man's balls.
Example: "I got so hammered down at the pub yesterday, bollocks..." or "I kicked him in the bollocks, hard."
•Brilliant= doesn't need an explanation but use it.
•Cheers= beyond the use of the world while celebrating its also used as "thank you."
Example: "Cheers for driving me home last night, mate."
•Chuffed= it is an expression of pride at your own actions or achievements.
Example: "I'm feeling pretty chuffed over all these likes on my latest Instagram post."
•Cock up= a fuck up, a mistake.
Example: "You really cocked up cheating on him."
•Dodgy= refers to something wrong, illegal, or just plain 'off', in one way or another.
Example: "I just get this dodgy feeling about this place."
•Gutted= To be 'gutted' about a situation means to be devastated and saddened.
Example: "I feel absolutely gutted I failed that test."
•Knackered= describes tiredness or exhaustion.
Example: "I'm totally knackered tonight."
•Mate= buddy, pal, dude.
Example: "You alright there, mate?"
•Nice one= sed almost always sarcastically in common British lexicon, although it can be used sincerely depending on the context.
Example: "You threw up on the carpet last night? Nice one, Lily."
•Posh= Generally, 'posh' denotes the English upper classes. However, it can be used to describe anything flashy or needlessly classy or expensive.
Example: "Going to a posh restaurant tonight, what should I wear?"
•Proper= used instead of very or really.
Example: "I'm proper confused right now."
•Rubbish= used to mean both general waste and trash, and to also express disbelief in something to the point of ridicule.
Example: "Oh, that's complete and utter RUBBISH!"
•Taking the piss= To 'take the piss' means to mock something, parody something, or generally be sarcastic and derisive towards something.
Example: "He's just taking a piss, don't bother to get angry."
•Wanker= 'Wanker' fits the closest fit by 'jerk' or 'asshole', but to a slightly higher value.
Example: "Piers Morgan is such a wanker!"
•Tad= a little bit
Example: "I'm just a tad irritated."
•Nutter= crazy person
Example: "She's a nutter, that one."
•Fit bloke= attractive man
Example: "He's a fit bloke, no?"
