doyoung and isla were sat in doyoungs car in the front of iseuls house. isla still couldn't decide on if showing up unannounced was crossing the line, but she couldn't help but be genuinely worried about her best friend. seeing as she was already there, she didn't want the fact that she'd asked her boyfriend to come all the way there to go to waste.

"alright, enough stalling," she sighed, unbuckling the seatbelt.

"hey," doyoung called, isla turning to him, "you want me to go in with you?"

the girl quickly shook her head with a soft smile. "no, i'm good. i'll be back."

she opened the car door, but before she could step out, doyoung took the chance to gently grab her chin and pull her in for a quick kiss. she let out a small laugh and an eyeroll before finally getting out of his car, closing the door behind her.

pulling her sleeves over her hands, she approached the familiar front porch of her best friends home. she grew nervous for some reason, not wanting this to backfire as she wouldn't know what to do with herself if something was really wrong with iseul. pushing away the thoughts, not wanting to be pessimistic, she knocked on the door.

after just a few seconds of standing there, iseuls mom opened the door. she was pleasantly surprised to see the girl standing there.

"isla! it's good seeing you!" the woman exclaimed, pulling her into a hug. after working many hours at her job, and getting her own place, isla hardly had time to visit her friends mom, as she considered her a second mother.

"you too! uh, is iseul home?" isla asked hesitantly.

"yes, come on in, sweetheart," she moved to the side, inviting the younger girl in, "she's upstairs."

isla nodded before making her way to the staircase. she already knew the way to iseuls room, having spent so much time in this house anyways. the floor creaked slightly beneath her feet as she approached iseuls room, standing just behind the closed door and giving it three gentle knocks.

iseul hadn't thought anything of it, thinking it was just one of her parents, so she quickly said, "come in!"

isla twisted the doorknocb and pushed open the door, peaking her head in first to show that it was her. the other girl lifted her head as she heard the door open, her mouth slightly dropping at the sight of who was on the other side.

"hi.." isla greeted almost shyly, stepping in and shutting the door behind her. confused, but relieved, iseul stood up from her bed and went to engulf isla in a hug.

"what are you doing here?" she asked, pulling away.

"i was worried, i'm sorry. no one has heard from you in a few days, it felt right to come check up on you."

upon hearing that, iseuls face dropped. she realized now was the time to talk about what she'd been hiding, not wanting to cause anymore worry within the friend group. "right, yeah. i'm so sorry. i wanted to talk to you about something."

"of course," isla nodded in understanding, the two immediately going to sit on iseuls bed, facing each other.

the blonde pulled her bottom lip in between her lip, scratching her nape as she fought to find the right words to start off. "so... fuck. you know how i said please don't hate me?"

"yes."

she finally looked up at her friend, eyes glossy, hands trembling, a sigh escaped her mouth. "i need you to promise me right now... you won't hate me after this."

islas eyebrows gently squeezed together in both confusion and fear. the way she'd been wording it made it seem like isla may have to rethink their friendship after this. "iseul..."

"just promise me."

she reluctantly gave a small nod. "i promise."

"okay," iseul sighed again, "there's no easy way to say this. um, about two weeks ago, i went to a bar. alone. i was just drinking and minding my business, and then... there was this guy. he started paying me too much attention, complimenting me, buying me drinks."

she could hardly get the words out without her eyes filling with tears. "we talked for a while and... well, one thing lead to another."

isla knew there was only one way this conversation could possibly be going, and something in her absolutely couldn't believe it. no, the iseul she knew, could never do something like that. not after all the shit talking they did to people like that, not after completely and utterly falling head over heels for the boy they knew as na jaemin. she would never.

"we..." at this point tears were now streaming down her eyes, "shit. i'm so awful. i fucked up so bad, and i know it was so fucking wrong."

"iseul... tell me you didn't cheat on jaemin."

the words made iseuls head fall right into her hands. she'd avoided saying it straight up, because she felt so guilty and didn't want to believe it herself.

when she didn't say anything, just cried harder, isla took that as her answer. "what the fuck... what the fuck.."

"i'm sorry. i'm sorry, i know i fucked up, but please don't hate me. you promised—"

"don't... don't pull that shit. are you fucking serious, iseul? tell me right fucking now that this is some sick joke." the girl stood from iseuls bed, hovering over her intimidatingly, demanding answers.

iseul shook her head between the sobs that came from her mouth. "it's not. please, isla, i need you right now. i feel so fucking bad and—and i can't go to him yet. he's gonna hate me forever."

she could do nothing but stare at her in shock.

"we're best friends, aren't we?" the crying girl asked desperately.

"no, not right fucking now. what the fuck, dude. jaemin is gonna be so hurt..." isla sighed, feeling a headache form at the sound of iseuls sobs in front of her. "i actually can't fucking believe you would do that. that's so shitty, iseul, and to think i was so confident that you were perfect for him."

"listen, i know, but i genuinely feel so bad, and i don't want him to hate me. i really do love him—"

"you don't do that to someone you love!" isla shouted, running hands through her hair frantically before calming herself back down. "you have until tomorrow to tell jaemin, or i'm doing it myself. please never speak to me again."

iseul could hardly see through her teary eyes, her lips quivering and sniffling through her nose every five seconds. she watched as isla stormed out of her room, not even bothering going after her because she could hardly keep composure from the sobs. her parents didn't see isla walk out, but heard the door open and close, just looking at each other in confusion.

the girl stormed to doyoungs car, opening it and getting inside before she slammed the door shut. doyoung looked at her in shock at the slam, watching as she stared straight ahead of her with a cold look on her face, quite scared to even say anything. he just placed a delicate hand on her knee, giving it a comforting squeeze, and isla felt herself relax at his touch.

"everything okay?" he asked finally.

"...no. i'm so pissed right now." she sighed, leaning back in the seat.

"wanna talk about it?"

"not really. maybe later."

doyoung nodded and started his car, driving off while isla sat there in silence, thinking about the interaction that just went down. she felt like there was no way this was actually happening, but didn't look back.
