Chapter 7 It's You Once More
A few days later, Adrien was shopping while the girls were in class. He saw someone who looked familiar to him. He could not believe it, was it her?
"Hi, sir, I am, sorry," she said. She felt embarrassed. She had stepped on his toes.
"It is quite alright, Miss," he said. He reached up to steady her when she looked like she might fall. "Marinette," He whispered her name. She blushed. "Yes," she said. He smiled. She backed away. She kept on shopping. He sighed remembering how nice it felt to have her in his arms again after all this time.
He finished shopping too. When he got done, he paid for his and hers. She was surprised when she was waved through. He helped her unload her groceries into her car. As he put his away, she came up and spoke to him.
"Nice car," Marinette said. It gives me plenty of room, for me and the girls. I adopted Alana and Bailey," He said. "Wow, so you're a father, fatherhood certainly looks good on you. I am sure you and your wife, are happy as ever." She said.
"My wife? Marinette, I am not married. The one girl I hoped to marry got away," He said. He leaned in close, kissing her when she did not protest. He felt her return the kiss slowly. He heard her sigh. "A-Adrien, I..." She muttered. "Marinette, It would be nice to have you over sometime for supper. Please, consider it," He said. She saw his pleading eyes and knew he would not take no for an answer, so she agreed to come over for supper.
Two days later, Marinette arrives in time for supper. The girls are reading some early readers. The bell rings while Adrien is in the kitchen, Alana rushes to answer the door, "I will get it she shouts." She opens it and smiles. "Hey, you must be our guest," Alana said. "Yes, that is me," She said. Bailey looked on not saying a word. "I am Marinette," She said.
"Hi, Marinette, I am Alana, and this is my sister, Bailey," She said.
Marinette nods her head. "Yes, Adrien told me." She said. "He did," Alana said. "Yes," Marinette remarked.
"You are pretty for a friend," Alana said. She stuck her tongue out at her father. Bailey laughed before she mimicked her sisters' actions. Marinette thought it fun to see what reaction she could get out of Adrien. She stood their hands on her hips and stuck her tongue out as well.
"Alright you three; you all decided to gang up on me." He said. He turned to Marinette, "I am surprised at you, Where is that girl who broke my heart the day she left me to keep us all safe?" He did air quotes as he spoke.
"You a-are his," Bailey said. Marinette blushed. Adrien did the same. Alana rolled her eyes.
"I am sorry, I never meant to hurt you. I could not let them do anything to you or the girls," Marinette said.
Adrien held her close. Alana cheered. Bailey smiled. He kissed her. The girls clapped. They were happy since their father was happy.
The dinner went well,l and so did dessert. Afterward, the girls watched TV while Adrien and Marinette did the dishes. Once those were done, Adrien held her hand taking her into the study where he shut the door. Before Marinette could react, he got on one knee as he wanted to years ago, and held out a ring, "Marinette, will you marry me? I love you, and the girls adore you. They did as babies once, and I am sure you will make me a fine wife, and a great mother for the twins." Marinette gasped, she did not know how to react. She was shocked he loved her. After all this time, he loved her. He wanted to marry her.
"Adrien, what about the girl, Who got away?" She asked. Her voice was low. "Silly, it's you once more," He said. "Y-yes," She muttered. He smiled, placing the ring on her finger. He kissed her. The girls came into the room. "Yeah!" Alana said.
"Go Daddy," Bailey cheered.
Adrienette and the girls watched a movie. Then the girls got ready for bed. Marinette read to the girls, then tucked them in, "Good night, Mom," Alana said. "Got night, Mom," Bailey slowly repeated. Marinette felt a tear form at their words. "Good night, girls," She said.
"What is it darling?" Adrien asked. "The girls called me, Mom," Marinette said.
"Oh, that is not so bad, soon you will be their mother, along with being my wife," He said. "Yes, that I will," She whispered. She kissed him. He kissed her. Marinette slept in the guest room.
Adrien slept better than he had in the last four years that night.
