EPILOGUE
"Are you ready?" León asked Violetta. Violetta glanced around their empty apartment that they've lived in for the past four years, moving in together a couple months before Mateo was born. Mateo was now almost four, Gabriella was one and a half, and Violetta was four months pregnant.
"I think so," Violetta told her husband. León set their set of keys on the kitchen counter. He glanced back at Violetta who was walking slowly around the empty apartment.
"What are you thinking about?" León asked his wife.
"It feels weird moving out of here," Violetta answered. "It feels like yesterday we moved in and slept on the air mattress for a couple weeks."
"That's because you wanted to sleep on an air mattress," León responded. Violetta smiled. "But it does feel weird. We've lived here for four years, we've brought Mateo and Gabby home here. We've had so many memories here, but we're going to make so many more at our new home." León held his hand out, and Violetta grabbed it.
"Wait," Violetta stopped León from walking out of the apartment. "Do you remember how we walked in for the first time after we signed the lease?" Violetta asked.
"You want me to carry you out?" León questioned. Violetta nodded. "You're serious?"
"Of course I'm being serious, León!" Violetta responded. "Now c'mon, Fede and Ludmi are already at our new place with Mateo and Gabby." Violetta smiled.
León put an arm behind Violetta's back, and under her knees and lifted her up with ease. Violetta wrapped her arms around his shoulders, and laid her head near the crook of his neck.
"Are you going to fall asleep?" León asked, jokingly, when he walked out of the apartment, for a final time.
"Not this time," Violetta told him. "But your arms are really comfy," Violetta added, faking a yawn.
"You can walk now," León said, dropping his arm, but Violetta was hanging from his neck, eventually wrapping her legs around his torso. "You're being difficult," León joked. Violetta smiled, but held him tighter.
"But you still love me," Violetta responded.
"That I will always do," León replied. "Now let's go see our kids at our new home." Violetta nodded, feeling butterflies in her tummy, but it was most likely the baby moving.
—
León parked in front of their new house. It was in a cul-de-sac in Buenos Aires. Their new house was right beside Federico and Ludmila's house.
"Hold on," León called out before Violetta opened the door.
"You don't need to do this," Violetta said.
"You wanted to be carried out of our apartment, but you don't want to be carried through the door of our new house?" León questioned. Violetta sighed, but let León pick her up.
"Ludmila and Fede are already inside," Violetta said, reaching for the doorknob to help León. León lightly kicked the door open.
"Are you guys serious?" Ludmila asked, looking at the couple walking in. "She's four months pregnant, she doesn't have broken legs."
León set Violetta down, but she didn't move her arms. They stayed close together. "Where's the kids at?"
"They're taking a nap," Ludmila responded. "Gabby was yawning, making Enrique yawn so I laid them in your bedroom, and I found Mateo laying on the floor in his toy room sleeping, so Fede just laid him on his bed."
"Thank you," León told Ludmila. She smiled in response. "For helping us move in."
"You don't need to thank me. I'm so glad you two moved in here, because I couldn't deal with having to be nice with new neighbors," Ludmila replied, making Violetta and León laugh.
"Vilu! León!" Federico shouted, and pulling the couple into a group hug. Ludmila stayed behind, shaking her head at her husband.
"Fede, you just saw us an hour ago," Violetta told Federico.
"But I was surrounded by kids, and your kids are little monsters," Federico replied. "I dropped my phone and Mateo kicked it under the couch, and when I went to pick it up, both of them jumped on my back."
"Enrique was the first one to climb on you," Ludmila corrected her husband.
"Then our child is a monster."
"Our child is not a monster."
"Then let me call their kids monsters."
"My children are not monsters!"
"All toddlers are monsters."
"Fran!" Violetta turned around seeing the Italian standing by the door, Diego was holding Karla. "I didn't expect you guys to come over."
"Fede called everyone for a house warming party," Francesca explained. "We brought— actually, I brought you a fruit tray. Pineapple and grapes only!"
"I love you," Violetta hugged her best friend. "Sorry, León."
"He's not even paying attention," Francesca pointed out. He, Diego and Federico got into a small conversation. "You guys did this all day yesterday?" Francesca asked, looking around the decorated house.
"Yeah, our parents came and helped, while Ludmila and Federico babysat for us. And we did this all yesterday," Violetta responded.
"Isn't it nice to have a place near family?" Francesca asked. "Diego and I are looking to move out of the apartment once we're ready for a second child."
"Ooh! One of the neighbors are getting ready to retire and move into one of those retirement homes," Ludmila added. "They're the ones right across from Fede and I."
"You want us to move closer to you guys?" Francesca asked.
"I've always wanted all you guys to do that. Our kids are going to grow up together anyways, might as well move into this cul-de-sac together."
"She says that now, until Fran, Vilu and Fede are over and don't leave until three in the morning," Camila interrupted. "Wow, this house is absolutely beautiful."
"Vilu is already moved in. And next door to us," Ludmila responded. "Fede is going to be over here and bugging you and León a lot more often."
"I don't bug Vilu!" Federico shouted across the room. "They love my company!"
"Anyways. Broduey insisted we had to get you guys a housewarming present, but I told him it was too late. So, we just got you a gift card, for Mateo," Camila paused. "Actually, it's just for Mateo. He told Broduey he wanted Spiderman."
"You guys need to stop spoiling my children."
"Only if you stop spoiling Isabel," Camila retorted.
"And Karla," Francesca added.
"And Quique," Ludmila said.
"That's not going to happen," Violetta responded.
"Then I'm not going to stop spoiling them."
"Who's spoiling who?" Maxi added when he and Naty walked in, carrying Alba.
"We spoil each other's kids," Francesca explained. "And there's no stopping it."
"Oh, okay," Naty replied. "Where are the kids?"
Violetta shrugged, turning around. The guys were sitting on the couch, watching their children playing in the middle of the living room.
"When did they wake up?" Ludmila asked.
"When you ladies were chatting," Federico answered, earning a small glare from his wife. "I love you," Federico said before giving a cheeky smile.
"You're so annoying," Ludmila told Federico before she went to sit by him. Everyone laughed, before finding spots to sit down. Violetta had chosen to sit in León's lap. Mateo was running around, being energized from his nap, Alba and Karla were chasing him. Isabel, Gabby and Enrique were sitting on a blanket playing with giant blocks, and other toys.
Violetta glanced around, seeing her friends, and their little families, and smiled. This was her family.
