My children and I recently converted to Islam. My daughter is 12 and today she wore her hijab to school for the first time. I dropped her off this morning and some of my last words to her were "It helps if you talk to Allah a lot".

I have only recently begun wearing my hijab and it has been an amazing experience. I have learned that hijab is more than a scarf. It is your dignity, the way you speak, the way you behave, etc.

Though we have had some negative reactions, the positives of converting to Islam and wearing hijab far outweigh the negative. I am so very proud of my daughter. She is the only Muslim young lady wearing hijab in her school. It takes strength and courage to make this step and her faith truly does amaze me.

May Allah continue to give her this courage and increase her faith. Ameen.
