"thank you! have a nice day!" loki cheered after the customer that had just left. he let out a sigh of relief seeing as the shop was now empty after the rush.

"it's beginning to get colder." jae muses. "yet business still hasn't slowed down." he begins to wipe down some tables, ridding of the sticky residue left behind by kids who spilled their frozen treat.

"well it's usually around this time of year that sis makes us her famous hot chocolate and she serves it to our regulars." loki added.

it was a late september evening, the sun was setting causing an orange red hue to illuminate in the small ice cream parlor. bittersweet creamery was launched shortly after the arrival of the twins, named after their personalities. it was always your fathers dream to run an ice cream shop and it was an immediate success in this small town where things such as fast food joints were limited.

jae wrung out the rag he was using, tossing it in a bucket full of other used rags. he turned to wash his hands, his eyes looking outside of the shop to as he people watched. a familiar face stood out amongst the crowd as they made their way into the shop.

"well if it isn't dumb and dumber!" the voice cheered. loki rolled his eyes, resting his elbow on the counter and placing his chin in the palm of his hand as he stared at the person.

"sorry olivia, we don't serve animals."

jae stifled a laugh as olivia scoffed. she turned to glare at the laughing boy which caused him to shrug and head to the back to put away some dirty dishes. the bell above the door chimed once more as another familiar face entered the shop.

"liv! you forgot your coat!" emi told her younger sister. the girl groaned, snatching the coat from her hands.

"what? did mom send you to spy on me?" she accused. loki watched the scene unfold with an amused glint. olivia was the younger sister of his sister's best friend, emi. she was about a year older than the twins, making her seventeen. despite their sisters being close, the twins and liv never saw eye to eye.

"mom's still at work. i just heard you leave and realized you forgot it. i tried calling out to you but you must not have heard me." emi tells her.

"did you think that maybe i was ignoring you? god! why can't you just leave me alone!" the younger stomped her foot before stalking towards the door. the bell rang once more as she exited the shop.

a deep sigh escaped emi's lips as rested her head in her hands. jae peeked hus head out of the back. "is she gone?"

loki turned to his twin and nodded before looking back to emi. "why do you let her to talk to you like that?"

"trust me, it's not like i enjoy it. it's taking a toll on me. she used to cling to me and now she wants nothing to do with me. i think it's due to the fact that i accepted our parent's divorce whereas she thinks we should've fought to keep them together." emi sighs, looking at both twins with a weak smile. "sorry for dumping that all on you. how are you guys?"

"busy with the shop and school. jae is studying like crazy so he can follow in y/n's step to marley." loki teased.

"you're one to talk. you didn't wanna play mario party the other night because you were studying too!"

emi laughed at the twins bickering. "how is y/n? i rarely hear from her nowadays."

"last i heard she's fine. we haven't really spoke in a week." jae nodded before a gasp left his lips. he slammed his closed fist into the palm of his hand before pointing at emi. "what do you know about her and kris' break up?!"

the girl purses her lips as she stands up straighter. "he said she cheated on him."

loki and jae's jaws dropped as a loud "HUH?!" left each of their mouths.

"i know. i didn't believe it one bit. considering he was the one who came to campus the next day with his neck littered in hickey's."

"that dirty little..." loki started.

"yeah, i didn't have the heart to tell her so i tried to distract her. i know if i kept the identity of my boyfriend a secret, it have her questioning who it is rather than focusing on kris who was hooking up every night."

"so sis knows nothing about this?" jae asked.

"nope. and please don't tell her you guys. you know how much she loved kris." emi begged. she was about to add something else before her phone dinged. "shoot! i gotta go! i'm almost late to meet up for my date with colt! i'll stop by again soon!"

emi ran out, quickly waving to the boys as they solemnly waved back. they then shared a glance with one another before the voice of their father rang through the shop.

"alright, you two head home. gramps and i are gonna close up shop. make sure you finish your homework before bed and all that stuff." your father told them.

"okay." the twins shouted in unison as they untied the aprons that were worn around their waist.

eren groaned in annoyance as the vibration of a his phone kept going off indicating that there was a incoming call. he sighed, face still down in the pillow on his couch as his arms blindly looked for the device. if he wasn't almost asleep, he wouldn't be so annoyed.

once his hands wrapped around the device, he flipped over to lay on his back and slide his finger across the screen to accept the call. before he could get a single syllable out, he was interrupted by two semi familiar voiced speaking in unison.

"y/n! did you know kris is telling everyone that you cheated on him?" the twins shouted before looking carefully at the screen and realizing that the person they were facetiming was not their sister. "wait, you're not y/n."

eren rubbed his eyes as he sat up and realized that his phone was not encased in the usual black matter case he had protecting it. instead, it was a clear case to showoff the rose gold color of the iphone. you must've accidentally left it behind when sasha quickly dragged you away to have lunch with her.

"i think she left her phone here." eren grumbled as he sat back on his couch. he began to rub the sleep put of his eyes as he looked at the two identical faces staring back at him. "why are there two of you?"

the twins scoffed. "we're y/n's twin brothers. i'm jae and the one glaring harshly at you is loki."

"sick names." eren mumbled, nodding his head. he let out a yawn as he got more comfortable on his couch. "so the prick is telling everyone she cheated on him?"

"it seems so." jae sighed. "but i know sis wouldn't do that. even though we don't share the same mother, she still grew up with us in a home where our parents stuck together. she always said she wanted a love my mom and our dad."

"i never trusted kris. i'm not sure i can trust you considering you didn't even bother to tell us your name." loki seethed.

eren nodded, reaching for his tv remote to put on a show for background noise. "i'm eren. i share classes with your sister and we're good friends."

"we've seen the instagram posts and you call that 'just friends'?" jae teased.

eren let out a chuckle. "yeah, i like her. she likes me. we aren't a thing yet considering the prick dumped her only a couple weeks ago. don't wanna move too fast."

loki gaped at the bluntness of eren, shocked he would reveal information so easily. jae just nodded at eren's words. although neither of the twins liked kris nor any guy their sister was close to, jae seemed to favor eren. he was honest from what he could tell.

"i was there when they broke up. did you two know he blocked her for a week and then facetimed her to break up and basically said he was breaking up because she didn't want to sleep with him? what a fucking loser." eren scoffed as he tossed his remote on the other cushion after putting on a random movie. he then looked back at his phone where the twins shared a shocked expression.

"i'm going to kick that guys ass." loki muttered.

"wow, wow. you're kicking whose ass now?" a new voice asked on their end as they entered the room.

"uh, no one dad!" jae said as he spun around.

"your mom wants you two to take the trash cans out to the street for tomorrow morning." their father looks over their shoulder to the small device. "who are you talking to?"

"dad! this is eren. he's y/n's friend." jae told him with a grin. loki just rolled his eyes at his twin. although loki often came off as finding his sister annoying, he was always the one who was more protective over her than jae. he didn't trust eren. at least, not yet anyway.

"here, you talk to him. jae, let's go." he said, tossing his father his phone.

their father fumbled the device in his hand as the exited their room before looking down. "i'll be damned. jaeger's boy, huh?"

eren just hummed in response.

"i knew that your father relocated to marley after your mother's passing. didn't think my daughter would find ya and befriend ya." your father said as he rubbed his chin with a small smile.

"i'm sorry, sir. i'm not really familiar with you or how you know me." eren admitted.

"your father helped me through a rough patch, especially with levi. i only saw you about once or twice."

"levi?"

"my nephew. when his mom and dad died, poor boy went through a rough patch but thanks to your father and i, we helped steer on a better path. marley university is only striving because of him which is why i let y/n study there." your father explained.

"ah, so you're kenny. he mentioned you the other day."

"that would be me."

eren furrowed his eyebrows together. "wait, so you're mikasa's uncle too?"

kenny sighed. "mikasa's adopted. i never really saw much of her."

this was newfound information to eren. he had never known one of his best friend's was adopted. she never mentioned it. did she know? eren's thoughts were interrupted as kenny began to speak again.

"you know, i really owe you a huge thanks."

"what for?" eren wondered.

"levi told me what happened to my girl at some party. it took everything in me to not go up there and beat the boy to a pulp before bringing her back home. but i knew she'd resent me for taking her away from her dream school. levi also shared how you were there to prevent him from goin any further as well as being an advocate to get the boy out of school. i'm grateful, jaeger." kenny spoke, eyes glossy over slightly.

"yeah, i'd do anything for her." eren mumbled.

"dad! mom says it's time for dinner." loki shouted as he stomped back into his room.

kenny nodded, tossing the phone back to the boy. "say goodbye to eren."

"bye." loki said and hung up. eren just stared at the phone blankly before laughing a bit. loki was definitely someone who needed to be warmed up to. he sighed, placing your phone down by the remote and laying back down to try and take the nap he was aiming to take before. a content sigh escaped his lips as he got comfortable and closed his eyes. he was almost asleep until he heard the turning of the lock of the front door and it's opening.

"i knew i left my phone here." you grumbled after shutting the door behind you and tiptoeing over to the couch.

you were unaware that the boy on the couch was painfully awake as you picked up the device. an arm wrapped around your waist pulling down onto the couch beside him. a surprised squeal left your mouth as eren laid you next to him and nuzzled his face into the crook of your neck.

"i thought you were asleep!" you spoke.

"now that you're here next to me, i think i can." he sighed in content.

um this is definitely more of a filler. im sorry i keep posting abt deleting this story but i have spurts of moments where i think it's not good enough to keep and it sucks and is cringey but i rly do have ideas for this story as well as wanting to publish other stories i just have my days and im sorry that updates arent as frequent as they could be. but i will be publishing again soon because i rly want to get this story moving more bc i feel as tho it is dragging a lot :(
