"We suck at this," said Flora, sinking into the chair. "I thought the interrogations were easier. Clio is the only decent one, at least she knows how to look mean."

Lorcan finished drinking his tea and set the cup down on the round table. "I don't care too much what that demon has to say." He got up from his seat and walked over to the window that led into the next room. "The only thing that matters is drawing Zagar to us."

"Yeah, and then what?" Flora asked. "We fight against him and kill him? How is that going to help us get to Agatha?"

"This time I think she's right," Demir joined the conversation. "We have a better chance of this demon giving us Agatha's location than Zagar will. It never hurts to have a contingency plan."

The room fell silent, contrasting with Lorcan's noisy mind. He couldn't take his eyes off the demon on the other side of the window. Even though his body was chained to a chair, he looked like he was comfortable. No matter how many questions they asked, he always answered with a joke or said nonsense, it was clear that he had no plans to give them the information they were looking for anytime soon.

"How do you scare off a monster?" He asked more for himself than for his two friends.

"I would say get down to his level, he's never going to see us as a threat if we continue to be so compassionate." Flora rested her head on the table and closed her eyes. "I'm too exhausted for that right now."

She was right, the demon must be seeing their threats as false. They could say so many things but if they didn't show him in actions that he was in danger it was useless. Even at that moment while Clio approached him with her knives to appear more intimidating, the demon didn't stop smirking.

Was he willing to cross the line? That was a question that had been running through Lorcan's mind ever since Agatha's disappearance. Before they took her away he avoided being the one to give the last blow, a part of him feared that if he acted like the demons did then he would become one of them. He saw how much crossing the line had affected Momotaro and he didn't want to become the same.

He was terrified that his family and Agatha would see him turn into a monster, but was that his biggest fear?

The image of Agatha invaded his thoughts, he saw her smile when she talked about what she loved and her beautiful look that never failed to leave him speechless.

No, that was not his biggest fear. There was nothing he feared more than never seeing Agatha smile again.

"I'm going in," he announced to his friends and walked to the door that separated him from the demon.

Lorcan was determined, even if that meant that he'll lose himself he'll bring Agatha back to her home.

"You can take a break," he told Clio. "I take care of him."

The young woman brought her face closer to the blue demon and hit him in the stomach. "You'd better start talking before he runs out of patience," she said before walking in the direction of the exit.

Lorcan waited until he heard the door close before taking his first steps toward the prisoner. He didn't get very close, just close enough to see the demon's face clearly.

"You've got an attitude this time, it looks like you're finally getting serious," the man said as he raised his head.

"I know you know who we're talking about when we ask about Agatha. You suck at playing dumb and something tells me Zagar is the type who enjoys bragging about his achievements. So start talking."

The demon laughed. "And what are you going to do to me if I don't tell you what you want? You've already shown me that your threats are pure facade. A couple of punches aren't going to do anything, I've faced much worse situations with Cadoc and Borbala."

"So you do know who she is."

"Of course I do, every single demon heard her name. It's not every day that we see a human in our territory, especially one that Zagar has brought along. He likes to play with humans but usually kills them after a week or two. Your little friend set a new record, she must be special or a really fun toy."

"I'm going to ask one last time." Lorcan took a hair band out of his pocket and tied up his hair. "Where is Agatha?"

"In Zagar's playground." The demon smiled.

That was the signal, it was time to leave behind his hesitations. Lorcan took another two steps and materialized a gun.

"You're not going to scare me with that boy," the demon sneered.

"This time it's for real." Lorcan aimed at the man's right foot and fired.

"Fucking human," the demon yelled. "You could have started with something less extreme."

"I've already lost my temper and pulling out a couple of your nails isn't going to make you talk. Have you remembered the answer to my question yet?"

"I have a very bad memory."

The next target was the left hand, with a shot Lorcan blew off three fingers.

"What about now?" The voice of the young man got deeper.

"You're going to make me bleed to death before I say anything."

"It's a risk I'm willing to take, you're no use to me if you're going to keep quiet."

Another shot hit one of the shoulders.

"Where is Agatha?" Lorcan yelled filled with rage as he approached the demon. He lowered the gun aiming at the demon's crotch. "The next ones are your balls, you have until the count of three. One, two—"

"I'll tell you, I'll tell you, just put that gun away," the demon pleaded.

"It's good to see you finally understand," Lorcan put the weapon away. "Start talking before I change my mind."

Boom!

A loud explosion ripped into the room.

"What was that?" Lorcan yelled at his friends.

"I think we have company, I can hear footsteps." Clio's voice came from the other side of the wall.

"It must be him," Lorcan said, walking toward the door. "Watch out that he doesn't run away, I'll take care of Zagar."

He exchanged positions with Clio and Flora. The young man trusted that the two of them would make sure to guard the prisoner, after all he was going to need him if his plan worked out.

"Are you sure you don't need help?" Demir asked as the footfall noises grew louder.

"This is my fight, but thanks, I appreciate the intention."

Lorcan entered the next room, closing the door behind him. He began to debate whether he should continue walking to intercept the demon as far away from the others as possible, though he didn't come to a conclusion before a portion of the wall was blown away.

A gigantic black wolf stepped through the hole, its red eyes fixing on Lorcan's figure.

"There you are, little human." Zagar's voice sounded in Lorcan's mind. "I think it's time for me to finish you off once and for all."

"That's exactly what I was going to say."

The wolf lunged at Lorcan with its mouth open. The young man rolled to the side, dodging the attack, not without taking two cuts on his arm as a souvenir.

Lorcan backed away from the beast, still watching it. He stopped in front of the entrance, it was more a message to his enemy than an attempt to slow him down, after all he didn't even need to use the door.

He materialized a long sword, almost as tall as he was. With a weapon like that his movements were limited but it was the only option he had considering the size of the beast.

Zagar jumped on Lorcan. The young man dropped to the ground to avoid the attack, ending under the wolf. Before he could crush him, Lorcan rolled to the right and scrambled to his feet. They were side to side, an opportunity that the young man used to brandish his sword against one of the legs of his enemy.

"I see you've been practicing with a new toy, but it's not enough," Zagar said.

The wolf turned around and with a claw blow sent Lorcan flying, causing him to crash into the wall. The pain that spread through his back prevented Lorcan from getting up immediately. He leaned his body on the sword to get back up.

Lorcan looked up, searching for the wolf, however what he found was a bear whose head almost reached the ceiling.

"Do you like my new form?"

The bear stretched out its arm in the young man's direction, it was so long that the claws made contact with the wall, sending the bricks flying. Lorcan leaned against the door behind him, a futile attempt as the claws slammed into his chest.

Lorcan fell to the ground, his shirt began to fill with his blood. The beast closed in on him, soon he'll be trapped between the ground and the massive body.

In a last attempt he made a gun appear in his hand and pointed at the bear.

"That's not going to work on me," Zagar sneered, already facing his prey. "Do you want me to give Agatha one last message?"

"You know, my friend taught me that there's no point in playing fair when you're fighting a demon."

Lorcan fired the gun.

Zagar raised his arm to finish off the young man.

Before he could hit the target he collapsed to the ground.

"Sedative, enough to put a beast like you to sleep," Lorcan explained as he rose to his feet.

He stood in front of the demon. Looking down at him, he waited for him to return to his original form and raised his sword. "Any last words for Agatha?"

And without waiting for an answer, he cut off Zagar's head.

He watched with a smile as the head rolled through the ground before turning to ashes.

Lorcan made the weapons disappear, then scooped up some of the ashes.

With one hand resting against the wounds on his chest and the other clutching Zagar's remains he made his way to the room where the prisoner was kept.

He approached the demon, ignoring the stares of his friends.

"This is what's left of Zagar," he said, scattering the ashes on the prisoner's lap. "Unless you want to end up like him, you're going to lead us to Agatha."
