Do You Ever Think About It?

Do you ever think about it?

Think it through until you shout it?

The words you yell

Kill life and raise hell.

Violence and profanity echo through my mind

Grasping for love but hate is what I find.

Search for truth in the midst of lies,

that I believe, though love denies.

Tell me to do as you say not as you do;

but how can I when the voices ring through

the barrier of what is and what seems;

Your words begin to bleed into my dreams.

Just as I begin building myself up inside,

Your words will rise up, rise

above all else, drowning out the good.

Burn out my fire like water on wood.

Don't you get it by now, understand?

The damage you do by mouth, not hand?

The words you say, what's the plan?

To pain me as you break my hopeful land?

What is it you want, anyway?

The words are wearing me away.

You don't notice, though, I don't matter.

Whip me verbally like batter.

Watch me dissolve, light fading.

Slowly now, feel myself breaking.

Holding on, this is taking

all of me and I'm hating me.

Scream louder until I decide

That no more is my time.

Like sand in an hourglass

Any day might be my last.

I hope I can speak life

And stop my child's strife,

instead of leading them into the night,

show them a loving light.

So, as you shout louder than thunder

Breaking my hope of life under

my skin, just remember, when I'm gone and dead,

"A daughter I didn't raise, I'm not proud of," that's what you said.

Those are the words that echo in the canyons of my mind.

I don't like letting people in now because what they'll find.

No, my emotions don't matter, don't worry

I cry myself to sleep and whisper a broken sorry.

Do you ever think about it?

Think it through until you shout it?

Because if you don't, please start now

To think it through before they're six feet underground.

(Okay, that's all? Did you guess what it was about? If you guessed stuff around the lines of verbal abuse, you're correct. Okay have a great day/life❤It's Election Day now so I'm slightly concerned but uh yeah that's all, bye for now,  flames!)
