-Hinata-

"Thank you so much for helping me with the move, Neji."

That should be the last box. I don't own much since all my belongings fit in a small little dorm for almost three years of my life. Nonetheless, it was such a hassle to move everything. I didn't have my license let alone a car to transfer anything from the university dorms to my new studio. It was still five heavy boxes I had to move and it would've been a nightmare taking a whole bunch of bus trips to and from.

Luckily, my cousin was around to help. He was the one that got me such a good deal on rent in this little studio just a couple doors away from him. And to top things off, he had a car. It took one trip and everything was inside.

"Not a problem." He smiled. "You sure you have everything?"

I nodded. "Should be."

"I can help you unpack." My cousin offered.

I shook my head. I already bothered him enough and he's already done more than enough to help little old me. I can't ask for more than that. "N-no. Go on home. You have the night shift tonight at the hospital. I don't want to keep you up too long."

"Hinata, it's 2pm." chuckled Neji. "I don't usually sleep until like 5pm anyways."

"You're a resident in the ER." I argued. "You need to still rest and relax. They make you do anything and everything..."

Neji sighed. "Alright, alright. When do you start your new job anyways?"

"Bright and early tomorrow morning." My heart skipped a beat at the mere mention of it. "I'm so ready for this."

"I know you are. You haven't stopped talking about since you got your acceptance letter after graduation."

I blushed and muttered an apology. I can't help it! I've always wanted to work with anything that's related to coding and technology. I even walked out of my luxurious home life to get the bachelor's in computer science. My father wanted me to become a doctor, just like my entire family was but...

I wanted to be different.

"Nothing to be sorry about." Neji patted my head. "Just unpack and rest up. I'll bring you some dinner a little later since you don't have any groceries yet. Knock if you need anything."

"Thanks."

Neji slipped his slippers on and closed the door behind him.

I wanted to prove that I can do different and still be happy without the money and the pride that came with being a doctor. I even graduated a year early!

Of course, that would be asking too much from such an old-fashioned man.

I clenched my fists in frustration.

It sucks I don't have my father or a majority of the Hyuga family supporting me but that isn't going to stop me from doing what I love.

And that was coding; creating technological tools and games for everybody to enjoy. I remembered playing the first Game Boy color game ever. It was nothing special, just Pokemon but I was always so curious on what was needed to make all the interactions happen. How the little character can walk back and forth the way it does.

Everything about that fascinated me.

I knew what I wanted to do from that moment on. However, my father never saw a good career coming from it. He only sees it as a hobby, as nothing more.

I sighed and shook my head. There's no use dwelling in the past now. I already left the strict lifestyle my father and all my grandparents had laid out for me to do what I want. I'll just bring myself down.

It took me about two hours to unpack my things. The studio came with a desk where I could set up my computer at and it had a perfect view of downtown Tokyo. I can only imagine how beautiful the lights would be at night. Not that I would time to be mesmerized by it. There was a tournament I had going on tonight with my little team online in about an hour. I snuck in a shower and ran down to Neji's apartment for the promised dinner.

His girlfriend gave me a plate to go and I rushed back to my apartment in the nick of time.

Perfect.

No more homework or exams to stress about.

No more distractions.

I stole one glance outside at the beautiful setting sun and took a breath as if absorbing the energy it was giving me.

This is my life now.

I slid my headset on and powered up my PC.

And I'm ready to enjoy every part of it.

-Naruto-

Something isn't right about this sequence of coding. The bug keeps affecting the players and the amount of complaints from the players are starting to pile up. Just what is wrong with the sequence. A quick glance over is easy to see that everything looks perfect.

Almost perfect.

Ah.

There it is.

"Shikamaru." I started. "Change this for me real quick and let Choji test it tomorrow and see."

Shikamaru, one of the greatest minds I hired, immediately caught what I was saying. His fingers nimbly typed the additional lines of coding.

"As always. You have a sharp eye, boss. It's quite troublesome." Shikamaru sighed as he finished up.

I chuckled. "How is it troublesome?"

"Just gives me more work to do. Better give me the overtime pay I get for doing this."

"Yeah yeah." I waved him off with a chuckle. "I'll pay the max overtime just so you can perfect that bug."

Shikamaru's eyes gleamed for a brief second before he returned his word without another word.

I wandered back to my office, sighing loudly. The clock on the wall ticked eight times. Looks like it's going to be another long night for me. I still have piles of paperwork to do and on top of all of that, I need to figure out a few other fixes in our biggest game in order to keep the player base happy.

A sheer drop of dread filled my stomach as I opened the first file right in front of me. Oh that's right. We have a new employee coming in tomorrow. Our human resource director, Tsunade, really liked her for some unknown reason but I haven't had a chance to look at anything from her profile. All I know is she's well...a she.

Thank Kami for that. Our male to female ratio is literally 90 to 10. It'd be nice to have some more female employees.

When I opened the file, the first thing I saw was a sample of her coding. I skimmed through it quickly.

Wow.

Everything is so neat and well put together. It's nice to have a neat freak once in a while. Besides Shikamaru, everybody else's codes always gives me a migraine when I have to look it over before releasing a patch on the game.

That's a plus right away.

The next is her resume.

Hm.

Graduated with a BS in computer science at Tokyo Institute of Technology in the top 3. She was a part of the computer club where she helped build PCs on her down time. Graduated top of her class in high school as well. Fluent in Japanese, English and Spanish which is pretty random but hey: credits to that.

Well then.

We have a child genius in our hands. She's only maybe two years younger than me at the most.

I glanced through the rest of the resume. When I was pleased with the information I absorbed, I continued to the application...

Woah.

I gawked at her picture. She had a small smile, her hands behind her back...but oh my.

She.

Is.

Beautiful.

Her eyes are what captured me the most. They're a unique pearl and only a few hundred people in the world has them. I think there were two families who have a straight genetic chain of them. Let's see here...

Yep.

Hyuga Hinata.

The Hyuga family.

But I thought the Hyugas all became doctors. They're well known for their hospitals that scatter the globes. So is she an exception.

Well. Well. Well.

I guess Konoha is lucky enough to actually hook one of those famous Hyugas as our own. I'm surprised she even applied with us when there are dozens of other gaming companies that are more well-known.

I'm not going to question her decision at all though. The honor that I feel about being the chosen company by one of these Hyugas is actually very warming. And on top of that, she is definitely going to turn heads wherever she goes.

I flipped the application to the back to see the notes Tsunade wrote down when she during the interview.

Very soft-spoken but passionate.

going to be living alone in a studio about a mile away

Wait.

I thought the Hyugas were loaded. She should have some sort of mansion ready for her when she graduates. Huh. I guess not becoming a doctor got her cut off of the inheritance.

very polite

definitely going to attract male attention

Ouch.

What the hell was that?

I'm known to be somewhat level headed with a very optimistic mindset. I try to be because if I basically rain down negative energy, it's only going to mess up my employees' work with pressure. I ensure pressure, of course, but not the extent of having to fire anyone. Almost everybody here is handpicked but with the new game launch, I left Tsunade in charge of the hiring.

And this is what I get for it.

That feeling though.

I don't like it one bit.

a fucking perfect fit

Tsunade never likes many of the employees or people in general. She's very...judgmental when it comes to who works in this building but at the same time, she's caring enough to give them what they need and when they need it.

It's rare she gives me an HR interview report with only compliments.

This woman...

How did you -

"Dinner's here, idiot."

I jumped a bit at the sound of my annoying best friend. He was standing at the doorway with a bag and held it up to me.

"You scared the shits out of me, Sasuke." I sighed, leaning back in my chair.

He just shrugged it off. "Thought you'd be hungry and Sakura kept pestering me to bring you food since you have the tendency to skip meals when you decide to work late."

"Sakura is always the better friend, isn't she?"

"Shut the fuck up. You want your take-out ramen or not?"

I stood up so fast, Hinata's profile almost flew everywhere. "Put it down here, now."

"I'm clocked out already." Sasuke gave me a smirk that made my skin crawl. "You're not my boss anymore."

I narrowed my eyes but he just chuckled his way over to my desk. He pulled the chair out in front and set the bag down.

"Whatcha looking at?" He pointed.

"Oh, uh...y'know..." I closed the folder as quickly as I could. Why though? No, he can sneak a glance at Hinata. Sasuke is apparently the hottest guy in the company. All the women always try to run after him but he could care less that they want him.

Hinata might be the same...

Wait.

Why is that relevant?

What the fuck is wrong with me?

"Just the profile of our newest employee in the coding department." I answered.

Sasuke blinked. "Ah, Hinata?"

I gawked. "How did you..."

"I walked in on her interview with the old lady." Sasuke started digging through the bag. "She seemed nice."

Uh oh.

First Tsunade giving an entire page of compliments but now even The Sasuke Uchiha is giving her compliments?

I think this woman just broke my company and it hasn't even been her first day yet.

"Where you starting her?" my best friend continued, not even caring for my reaction to his statement.

"Of course on the 2nd floor." I replied. "All employees start there."

"Really?" Sasuke raised an eyebrow. "Have you even seen her answer to the complicated virus you coded and how she handled it?"

I blinked once. "How'd she do?"

"Let's just say it was flawless. No mistakes, not even a period out of place. 100% fixed."

Oh my Kami.

In the years of this company's success, I made all the potential hirees take a complicated test. The highest one was, in fact, Shikamaru's but he was only able to debug like 85% of it.

"She did it in record time, too." Sasuke continued. "Only needed exactly 12 minutes and 22 seconds."

Uh.

"I think you should just move her to the top floor already. We could use someone like that up here."

Can I?

"No." I sighed. "That would be playing favorites."

Sasuke looked at me as if I was stupid. "How so? Just because she's hot as fuck?"

I stiffened at his statement.

That's two compliments now...

"So what if she is. She's got a brain and an eye for tiny details. Trust me, it'd be best to just start her off up here and see if she can survive. If not, just move her down."

There's only a total of fifteen employees up here. They're all leaders in their department, too. Sasuke runs the cyber security section, Choji the tester and Shikamaru runs the coding. I wonder if Shikamaru is willing to share the seat with someone like Hinata. Judging by everything I've heard about her up until this point, I'm pretty sure he won't.

Hopefully.

"We will just have to see." I opened her file one more time, looking down at her application portrait. Again, my heart did a weird spaz.

This time.

I don't know.

I kinda...liked it.

Hyuga Hinata.

Well.

This company just got more interesting, y'know?
