Bruises

"Mitchie!" I yelled, watching as he stopped and turned around and looked at me. "Hey!" He said as I caught up to him. "Am I coming over after school?" I asked him. "I actually have plans after school. You're welcome to come if you want to, I'd love for you to." He said. "Sure, I'll come." I said quickly. He smiled and looked at me. "It's a plan. I'll tell them later."

He stopped at his locker, opening the combination. I looked around, and I saw a group of guys staring at us. Well, staring at me. They looked disappointed that I was here. I looked back at Mitch, and noticed that he had a bruise on his arm. As he closed his locker, I grabbed his wrist and pulled him away, hoping that the boys wouldn't follow. "Scott, what are you-?" "Don't ask, just follow. I'll explain in a minute." I said quickly, trying to find somewhere that nobody could hear us. I found a secluded corner and stopped, pulling him into it.

"Where did you get that bruise? And don't lie to me, I saw a group of guys looking at you." I said. He looked at me, shocked. "I got the bruise from falling on the stairs. I don't know anything about those guys." He replied, clearly lying. "Mitch, I know how to tell when you're lying, and it's obvious right now. Tell me the truth, please." He sighed, and looked down. I spoke up. "Did they hurt you?" I asked. He looked up, and I immediately noticed the tears on his cheeks. I wrapped my arms around him. "It's okay. They can't hurt you anymore. I won't let them." I said. He cried a little more, before wiping his eyes and looking at me.

"Thank you." He said. I smiled sadly. "Anything for my Mitchie." I replied. He smiled, and I hugged him again before stepping away, him following behind me. I turned and put my arm around him. "Come on, slow poke." I exclaimed. "Well sorry that I don't have freakishly long legs like you do. Newsflash, I'm short." He shot back. "There's the Mitch that we all know and love." I said, earning a grin from him. "Do you have the same schedule? Or is it new?" He asked me. "It's different. Only 2 classes switched, though. I have math next, though! Isn't that what you have?" I said ecstatically.

"Yeah, and thank god. I hate that class." He said. "You've always hated that class, Mitch. I wouldn't expect anything less from you." He laughed. I love it when he laughs. Because I know that he's happy. And that makes me happy. "Good. Now let's go before we're late!" He said, grabbing my hand and running, pulling me along behind him. We got there as the first bell rang, and we watched people filing in as we took our seats. "So, does she know that you're back?" Mitch asked me.

You might be wondering who 'she' is. Well, her name is Jessie, and she was my girlfriend before I realized... You know. Anyway, I think that she might've known that I liked Mitch before I did, because all of a sudden she kept trying to drive us away from each other. She kept telling me bad things about him, all untrue of course. How could I ever give up my best friend? But in trying to keep us together, she just chased me away. I caught Mitch crying because of a rumor she spread about him. It nearly destroyed him. After he started to lose friends, he was afraid that I would abandon him like everyone else.

No matter how many times I told I'd always be there for him, he didn't believe me. It took a while, but eventually he believed me, and his reputation slowly started to build back. After that, I couldn't see her without wanting to punch her into next week. So I broke it off, making it very clear that I wouldn't forgive her for it, and that it was definitely her, not me. We wouldn't be friends, and she would never talk to either one of us again. She tried for the first week, but eventually she gave up. So yeah, she might know that I'm back, but it's not like it'll make a difference.

"I don't know, and I don't care. All I care about is you." I replied. "Aww, Hoying, you're too sweet."

A/N: So, yeah. This chapter might be 200 words longer than normal...
