The Beach

"Your first time in the sand!  Are you two ready?"

Heidi laughs and blows spit bubbles while Joseph reaches towards his mother.

Arvilla grabs Joseph and stands him up in the sand.

Joe looks down and makes a face. "Eh!  Ahh!"

"It's okay, Joe!" Arvilla laughs and sits him in her lap.  She then lets Heidi try.

Heidi gives her mother a blank look as she lifts her feet in the air.

"Woah!  She laughs. "You don't like it either?  Well that's okay.  It's a little yucky anyway.  Let's go ahead and see how you like the water."

Arvilla took both babies to the very edge of the water.  She sat down and placed them right in front of her.

"Ah!" Heidi smiles and slaps her hands in the water.

"You like it, Princess?" Arvilla smiles.

"What about you, Joe?"

"Joseph lightly touches the water as he lays his head on Arvilla's stomach.

Arvilla smiles and rubs his back. "You little mama's boy."

**

Things at the beach were completely fine for a while, but when the twins were done, they were Done!

Arvilla packed up their things as the twins screamed and cried so hard their faces turned red.

Arvilla was out of breath from loading up the rental car, and dealing with the twins.

"Enough, you two.  You're just sleepy, so go to sleep!"

The twins were maaaad!  Arvilla didn't stop.  She drove to the hotel because she knew they would tire themselves out and eventually fall asleep.

**

The twins did exactly what Arvilla knew they would.  By the time they arrived at the hotel their piercing screams turned into a soft whine.  Arvilla drove around the hotel a few times just to make sure they were out.

Once there was complete silence Arvilla parked the car and let out a deep sigh as she rest her head back.

"That was intense." She whispers to herself.

About five minutes later  Arvilla's cellphone started ringing.

Arvilla jumped and quickly answered it.

"Hello?"

"Hey!  How's the trip going?  Why are you whispering?"

"The twins fell asleep in the car, and I don't want to wake them.  I need quiet after what they put me through at the beach and all the way home."

"Heh!  Arvilla, you are a super mom."

"Shut up." Arvilla chuckles with exhaustion.

"I'm serious.  Traveling just you and two seven month olds?  I would lose it instantly!"

Arvilla laughs. "So far it's been hard but.. I want to make as many memories with them as I can.  I had them later than the average mom has kids.. I just want them to experience as much as possible."

"I wish I had a mom like you.  That's awesome!"

"Thanks." Arvilla laughs.

Robert then pauses for a moment. "I miss you so much."

"I miss you too."

"I'm hoping I can visit soon.  I've just been so damn busy."

"I know.  You're a very hard worker.  It's okay." Arvilla smiles softly.

"Sometimes I think I work too hard." Robert chuckles.

"You need to take a nice long vacation."

"I do!  I don't even remember the last trip I booked that didn't involve work or coming to see you."

Arvilla scoffs. "Seeing me wasn't a vacation?"

"You know what I mean, you dork." He says making him laugh.

"I know, I know!  You know what?  One day I'm gonna take you somewhere."

"You'll show me a good time?"

"What?" Arvilla scrunches her nose and laughs.

"I'm joking!  But sure!  Take me somewhere!"

"I will."

"Promise?"

"Sure."

"I said, Promise!"

"And I said Sure!" Arvilla laughs. "I promise... Dweeb."
