My Boys
Arvilla and Bo had a lovely talk.
The next morning Arvilla told Margene and Carol that he was in town, of course they had a little reunion and Margene invited him to her wedding.
A week later was Arvilla and Joe's wedding anniversary. Of course Arvilla was a mess!
Luckily her best friends were there for her. They took her out to get pampered, and to eat a delicious meal.
Arvilla sat back, her hands resting on her bump.
"Do you guys remember how fun our wedding was? Oh gosh, he made me feel like a Queen!"
"It was amazing! And you were a beautiful bride, Arvilla." Margene says making her smile.
"Thank you. Oh gosh." Arvilla nods and places her palm on her forehead. "She's not going to have him to walk her down the aisle. My Heidi won't have her Daddy to walk her down the aisle!" Arvilla says as tears roll down her cheeks.
"Oh honey.." Carol rubs her back.
"He'll be there right beside her in spirit! He'll kiss her cheek, and he'll go sit right beside you! I just know he will, Arvilla."
"I just.. I love them so much. I wish they had both parents. They don't have a Daddy, a Nana.. they have one Grandpa, but who knows if he'll be around them much. If my mom we're still alive.. heh!"
"She'd go crazy over them!" Margene smiles.
"Oh I know it!
I miss her.. I need her so much right now. I have never been so low in my life.. but also.. I've never been happier. It's so crazy and I can't explain it.
Why did the most amazing thing happen when the worst possible thing happened?"
"Because these babies were meant for that, Arvilla." Carol says. "They're special little angels that God sent you at the most perfect time. They were meant to be here for you when you needed someone the most."
Arvilla sniffles and softly rubs her bump.
"Joe and the babies are the most incredible things that have ever happened to me.. I just hate that I had to lose one to gain two."
"I know.. you're so strong, Arvilla."
Arvilla sighs and looks down to her belly.
"Thanks."

36 weeks pregnant.
Today Arvilla is meeting Alan and Miguel for lunch.
"Hi boys! So sorry I'm late! The babies decided to jump on mommy's bladder before leaving the house."
"Ouch! Don't worry, Mrs. Holden." Alan smiles and stands up to greet her with a hug.
"Still pregnant." Miguel shakes his head.
"Unfortunately." Arvilla sighs.
"I thought they'd be here for Margie's wedding!"
"Well me too but that's a week away, and I'm not too sure that'll happen. I even bought them both tiny little wedding outfits!"
"I guess they'll have to be Easter Sunday outfits." Miguel shrugs.
"Oh yeah! Hey, that's a good idea, Miguel!"
"Thanks! Hey can we go to church with you on Sunday?"
"Miguel, what did I tell you about saying Hey like that? It sounds disrespectful."
"Sorry Mrs. Holden." Miguel lowers his head.
"It's okay, sweetie! And yes you can come to church with me." She smiles.
"Yay! We can pick you up."
Arvilla chuckles.
"Well how about this.. since there's absolutely no way I'll be able to get myself into your brother's truck—"
"We can pick you up and put you in!"
"Sweetie, It's okay!" She giggles. "But thank you! You're so sweet!"
"Thanks." Miguel smiles.
"What I was going to say is that you guys can drive over to my house on Sunday morning and I'll let Alan drive us all in my husband's car."
"Woah! Alan we get to ride in Mr. Holden's cool car!"
"Mrs. Holden, are you sure you trust me to drive his car?"
Arvilla smiles. "Yes. Besides, I know Joe would say—" Arvilla then began speaking in a deep voice, mocking her husband. "If Villa drove it, Anyone can!"
The boys laugh.
"He called you Villa?" Miguel asks.
"He did." Arvilla smiles.
"Can I call you that?"
"Of course! Remember I told you boys that you didn't have to call me Mrs. Holden. We're closer than that!"
"Tia Villa?" Miguel smiles.
"Aww! That's what you call an aunt, right? Oh my gosh, Yes you can call me that!"
"Yay!"
"Oh boys! Before I forget! I scheduled an appointment for us today!"
"What for?" Alan asks.
"I want to buy you brand new suits for the wedding." Arvilla smiles.
"Mrs. Holden, you don't have to do that! That's too much!"
"Yeah, we we're gonna wear our old church clothes." Miguel adds.
With a beautiful bright smile Arvilla says, "Everyone is getting a new dress or a new suit. I want you guys to have something new as well. Don't worry about the price, it's okay!"
"Maybe you can also wear it to impress Christiiiineeee." Miguel sings that last part as he moves his hips in the chair.
"Shut up." Alan gives his little brother a look.
"Who's Christine?" Arvilla smirks.
"She's just a friend."
"Oh, I see." She giggles.
"Mhm! A friend." Miguel also gives him a smirk.
"Miguel!"
"You guys are too much!" Arvilla laughs.
**
"You boys look so handsome! How do they feel? Do you like them? Because you can try on others if you'd like."
"No this is perfect! Thank you!"
"You're welcome!"
"I look Cuuute!" Miguel checks himself out in the mirror.
Arvilla laughs. "You look very cute! All the girls at the wedding are gonna ask you to dance, I bet!"
Miguel's face turns red. "Oh no!" He covers his face with his hands to hide the fact that he's blushing.
Of course that makes Arvilla laugh even harder.
"Oh gosh, I have to pee! Excuse me, sir. We'll take these, boys you can go change."
"I wanna stay in mine!" Miguel says.
Alan roughly turns him around. "Come on!"
Arvilla giggles and nods her head. She then looks to the salesman and says, "Brotherly love."
"Gotta love it! Are these your sons?"
Arvilla's smile grows.
"They're my boys."
Arvilla always had so much fun spending time with "Her boys".
When Sunday came around, she wore a beautiful dress and flats.
The boys came over and they all drove to church together. Afterwards Arvilla and the boys went to eat with Margene, Carol, Arlo, and Emmet.
Arvilla sat back in her seat after she ate. The babies kicking like crazy! Arvilla just wanted to lay down and go to sleep since she suddenly didn't feel too well.
"Are you okay, Mrs. Holden?" Alan places his hand on her shoulder.
"I'm okay. One of the babies must have not liked what I ate because my stomach hurts a little bit. But I'm okay."
"Would you like for me to take you home?"
"No honey, I'm okay. Thank you though."
Alan smiles and softly kisses her cheek.
Arvilla smiles and softly pats his arm.
They had a great time chatting but once everyone was ready to head out, Arvilla was relieved. She felt nauseous and absolutely exhausted.
"Thanks for trusting me to drive Mr. Holden's car, Mrs. Holden."
"You're welcome!" She smiles.
Alan then gets out of the drivers seat. Miguel opens Arvilla's door, and moves to the side so his brother can come help Arvilla out.
"Oh!" She groans. "Man getting out of that car didn't used to be so difficult!" She laughs.
Alan chuckles. "Here are the keys. Call us if you need anything."
"I will. Thanks, boys."
"Thank YOU! It was awesome driving this car, and really nice going back to church. We haven't been since mom passed."
"Aw.. well I'm glad you two enjoyed it."
Arvilla's heart felt so full when she was around Alan and Miguel. She couldn't wait for the twins to arrive. She knew they'd just love them!
***
It is now February 9th. and Arvilla is 37 weeks pregnant.
"WOOHOO! Are we getting wild tonight, ladies?" Margene asks. Tonight is her bachelorette party.
"Wild? With Sister Brimm over there? Oh of course not!" Arvilla giggled.
"Oh yeah? And what about you, Ms. Preggers? You little waddler!"
"Hey I can still get down with the best of them!"
"Yeah until your water breaks and we have to rush you to the hospital!"
"No, no, no! I'm convinced these two are staying in me forever so there's nothing to worry about!"
"Forever?" Margene laughs and rubs her bump.
"Forever! They love the belly and won't leave!"
"Oh they'll pick the most perfect time to come!" Carol says.
"Yeah like right at the moment I walk down the aisle!"
"Oh gosh, I apologize if that happens!"
"It's okay, honey!" Margene laughs and rubs Arvilla's back.
**
"Will somebody come to the bathroom with me?" Arvilla whines.
"Arvilla, we've spent more time in the bathroom with you than we have anywhere else tonight!"
Arvilla pouts. "Fine! I'll just go by myself! Some strange man will see me and want to take advantage of the heavily pregnant woman he sees walking alone!"
"Oh Margene, don't make her feel bad! I'm coming, sweetie." Carol says.
"I'm going too, I don't want to get taken!"
Arvilla rolls her eyes. "Thanks. I just can't help it, you guys. Carrying two babies is hard on your bladder." She pouts and runs her hand down her bump.
"I know, honey. Just ignore her, she's had too much to drink!" Carol gives Margene a disapproving look.
"Oh please!" Margene rolls her eyes. "I'm not gonna go to hell for drinking a little at my bachelorette party!"
"Maybe not for that, but possibly for giving that man a lap dance!"
"Stop! I said we'd never speak of it! It was one last hurrah!"
"Pregnant woman dying over here!" Arvilla shouts as she bounces up and down, squeezing her legs together.
"Oops Sorry!"
The night ended up being a lot of fun. Arvilla was totally exhausted and crashed as soon as she got home.
It is now February 14th. Margene's wedding day!
The girls slept over at Margene's and all shared a bed.
They watched movie after movie, and talked about old times. Every once in a while Arvilla would take their attention.
"Arvilla, are you okay?" Margene asked.
"I'm fine, it's just a contraction."
"Just a contraction? Do we need to take you to the hospital!" She panicked.
"No! Just watch the movie, I'm fine, it'll pass!"
Of course both women were on edge, but just like Arvilla said; it past. Throughout the night she had some pains here and there, but nothing to alarm anyone with.
The next morning the two woman woke up and saw Arvilla walking out of the bathroom in her baby blue nightgown.
"Hey! Happy Wedding Day!" Arvilla smiles.
"YAY! Thank you!
Hey, did you get any sleep, honey?"
"Yeah, when I fell asleep you were walking to the bathroom!" Carol sits up.
Arvilla chuckles with exhaustion. "I got a little sleep. I swear one day I'm just gonna camp out in the bathroom! I go so much! How is there even that much pee in my body?" Arvilla places her hand on the top of her stomach.
"I don't know! But look at your belly!" Margene chuckles.
Arvilla laughs and lifts her nightgown revealing her bare bump.
"You guys, I can't possibly grow anymore! I mean I stretch another inch and I'll explode!"
"Goodness your skin is so tight!" Margene makes a painful face as she gently presses into her stomach.
"I know! It hurst, it itches! Ugh I'm so uncomfortable!" She cries.
"Aw but you're still so beautiful!" Carol says making Arvilla cry even more.
"Stop it, I look horrible!"
"You don't! You're so so gorgeous!"
Arvilla looks at her then buries her face in her hands and sobs.
"Aw.." Margene rubs her back.
"I'm so hungry!" Arvilla cries.
"Carol will make us something, don't you worry!"
"Oh yes, little mama Carol will cook everyone a nice big breakfast!" Carol gets out of bed and stretches out.
"Well it's my wedding day! Ah! My wedding day! I'm marrying Emmett today!" It was like the thought had just hit Margene.
"Yaaaaay.." Arvilla giggles softly through her tears.
Arvilla looks at her friend's happiness and her heart breaks. She is so happy for Margene, but it makes her miss Joe even more.
**
"Margene! You look beautiful!" Arvilla smiles.
"Thanks! Emmett won't be able to keep his hands off me, huh?"
"Definitely not!"
"You girls look beautiful in your dresses!"
"They had to let mine out!" Arvilla pouts.
"It's okay! You look so beautiful! You're glowing, Arvilla. You really are."
"Aw.. thank you.." She smiles and looks down, softly brushing her fingers over her belly.
Just then the wedding coordinator walks in.
"Arvilla, you have someone out there asking for you. His name is Robert."
Arvilla gasps. "Bobby's here?!"
"Ooh! Your date!" Margene smiles.
"Stop it, Margene he is not my date! We're just really close! Ah I'm so excited he's here! I'm gonna go say hi!"
Arvilla leaves and Carol turns to Margene.
"I think she likes him but just doesn't want to hurt Joe."
"Oh she definitely feels that way! I haven't seen her run that fast, or run period in ages!"
Carol laughs.
"I hope she let's him in and opens her heart to him. Joe would want her to be happy."
"He would. She's still young too. I think it'll eventually happen."
"Yeah."
"But right now it's all about me!" Margene smiles. "It's my day! Carol Brimm, you're allowed to get drunk tonight."
"Oh Margene!"
"God told me."
"Oh you better stop!"
