I'm not prepared

The next morning Alan came over with Miguel.  Arvilla made the two boys a big breakfast, and they all sat down together to enjoy it.

"How are the babies today, Mrs. Holden?" Miguel asks.

"They're doing really well today!  Heidi is being her usual wild self, and Joe is just relaxing with his little feet in my ribs." She chuckles.

"Oh my gosh, what?  How does he get his feet in your ribs?"

Arvilla laughs and says, "They're tiny so he just slips them right on in there!  I guess it's comfortable to him.  I have no idea how but.. I guess he likes it!" She shrugs her shoulders.

"That is so weird!  Can.. can I feel the babies move?"

"Miguel." Alan says.

"I don't mind." Arvilla smiles.
"It's nice, when other people besides me play with them." She giggles.
Arvilla then leans back and says, "Go ahead.  Feel."

Miguel places his hand on her big round belly, and a handsome smile spreads across his face.

"You feel it?"

"Yeah.."

"It's kinda weird, isn't it?"

"Very!  They do that all the time?  Even when you're sleeping?"

"Yep!  There are times I think they're napping." Arvilla giggles. "But then one baby will kick the other, and start a fight between the two."

"Woah, really?!"

"Mhm!  And during the night they start kicking like crazy!  Like they're saying, Mommy get up!  We don't like this position!" She laughs. " They do not like it when mommy lays down!"

"How do you sleep?"

"I have to sit up a little.  Then they calm down a bit."

"Wow.. I always wanted a baby brother or sister.." Miguel looks down as he continues to softly stroke her belly.

Arvilla's heart hurt for Miguel.
She placed her hand on his back and gently rubbed it up and down as a sign of comfort.

"But these babies will kinda be like my brother and sister!  Right?  We'll all be friends!" He smiles.

"Definitely!  Oh Miguel, they're going to love you!  I can already tell be the way they're kicking you!  They're playing games already!" Arvilla giggles.

"They are!  Alan, you need to feel them!"

Arvilla turns to Alan and smiles.

Alan looks to Jessica and she nods to give him the OK.
"Go ahead."

Alan then places his hand on her bump. "Wow.. They're wild!"

"They sure are!"

"I remember feeling Miguel kick like this.. Boy does time fly."

Arvilla gives Alan a soft smile.

"Was I this crazy?" Miguel asks.

"You were!"
Alan then clears his throat and stands. "I can take everyone's dishes."

"No honey, I'll get that.  Don't you worry about it."

"Alan's got it, Mrs. Holden." Miguel says, his hands still glued to her belly.

Arvilla laughs.

"You've done more than enough, Mrs. Holden.  You just relax."

"Well thank you, sweetie.  I appreciate it."

"No problem!"

Arvilla then looks down when she feels Miguel rest his head on her bump.
"This feels weird." Miguel says.

"They're kicking you in the head!" She laughs.

"So silly!" He laughs and places a soft kiss on her stomach.

"Aww.. That's sweet."

"I'm a really sweet little boy, Mrs. Holden."

Arvilla laughs and places her palm on his cheek. "Yes you are, Miguel.
.. You certainly are." She smiles.

Later that day Margene, Carol, and Robert came over to help organize the babies things Arvilla received at her baby shower.

Alan had just finished in the garden, and now him and Miguel were helping out as well.

"I just cannot believe they'll be here so soon!  I'm not prepared at all!" Arvilla says with a look of fear in her eyes.

"What do you mean?  Look at all of this stuff you have!" Margene said. "You've got everything ready for them!"

"No I mean mentally.  I'm not ready!" Arvilla nods.

"I understand, Arvilla.  I felt the same when I was pregnant." Carol said.

"You did?" Arvilla nervously rubs her belly.

"Absolutely!  It's normal for every mother to feel unprepared.  No one is ever truly ready for the birth of their child."

"Really?"

"Of course!  You know what you should do to help ease your fears?"

"What?  Have a glass of wine?" Arvilla says with a worried look on her face.

"No!  Arvilla!  You bad woman!" Carol playfully taps her arm.
"I was going to suggest you take a lamaze class."

"Oh I don't know about that!"

"Why not, Arvilla?  It might help you!" Margene says.

"It will for sure help you!  They'll teach you how to breathe during labor-"

"How to breathe?" Miguel makes a face making Arvilla chuckle.

"They'll teach you different positions to help bring the babies down into your pelvis."

"Woah!  I think I should leave the room now." Alan says as Arvilla once again laughs.

"Sorry, honey!"

"It's okay.  Miguel, let's give them some privacy."

"No, I wanna know these things!"

Arvilla giggles then turns to Carol. "I can't go!
Who am I gonna go with?  Joe isn't here, I'll be the only one alone!"

"I'll go with you, Mrs. Holden." Miguel kindly offers with a smile.

Arvilla smiles. "That is very very sweet of you, but I don't think this is a class you'd enjoy." She chuckles. "Thank you so much for offering though!"

"Carol and I can go with you!" Margene smiles.

"What?!  No!" Arvila nods.

"Arvilla, it would be good for you to go to at least one class.  Maybe it'll calm your nerves a bit." Robert says.

"You think so?"

"Absolutely!" He smiles.

"Alright.. I'll go."

"Really, Arvilla?  You kept denying Carol, but Robert says it's a good idea and you're already in the car!"

"Margene!" Arvilla laughs.

"I guess I'm special." Robert smiles.

"Oooooh!" Miguel smiles.

"Stop it." Arvilla looks at Miguel, her cheeks turning pink.

"She's blushing, guys!" Miguel points to her.

"You go out with your brother!" Arvilla says making Miguel laugh hysterically.
