i look back up to him, seeing his eyes narrow when meeting mine. "i-i don't know anymore." i push myself to say and i look away again since it feels like i'm straining my eyes.

i'm so so so sorry for all of the sadness, but that is basically what this book is based off of. sadness. and it's not because i want to make it sad, it's just what the characters have developed to feel. jack has been exposed to sadness for so long, which means he will feel mostly sadness. mark, from what we can see, is a happy and joyful person. he is now being exposed to jack's sadness, which challenges him mentally and emotionally. sooner or later, you will learn and hopefully piece together what both of them combined feel.
