Chapter 45: Taking Them Down
Diedrek
I watch him like the hunter I am. His eyes look back and forth between mine. Suddenly, he takes a step back, his mouth falls open, eyes wide with utter shock. I lift one brow at him, nodding my head slightly. That's right fucker I know your deepest, darkest secret. I, your oldest son, figured it all out.
Shaking his head, he tries to replace the look of horror on his face. Taking a step closer to me he shoves me backwards slightly. "You think you know everything? Huh!" His eyes are blood red now. Looking behind me, I nod at Constance and Darius.
They let me know they get the message loud and clear, as they turn to walk closer to the trees. "What don't they want to watch you die?" My father spats. Causing a humorless laugh to fall from my lips. Turning around I stomp closer to him, my arms at my sides. "What I can't have a plan that outwits you mother fucker!" I fling the words at him with so much hatred. He has to take a step away from me.
After I spout the words at the asshole, the cavalry arrives. Hundreds, upon hundreds, of other vampires that follow Constance walk out from the darkness of the trees. Each one has their teeth elongated, their claws out, and their eyes are blood red. These are the vampires that have been outsiders, remaining in hiding all these years because of my father and his idiotic views of this world. How he and his followers have been controlling this world.
I watch my father like the predator I am, as his eyes bounce from one vampire to another. The red draining from his eyes, as he takes another step back. Worry lining his face. I never asked Constance how many vampires she was recruiting, but judging by the way Aurora is clutching the book to her chest, and the fact Tristan unsheathes his swords tells me all I need to know.
His oldest child did something he never thought was possible. She grew our numbers exponentially, something my father and hers never thought would be possible. The worry dissipates from my fathers face, as he stands straighter, squinting his eyes at me. Turning around, he whispers into Aurora's ear, and we watch as she opens the book.
Closing her eyes, she slants her head toward the sky, mouthing some Latin words below her breath. Before I can say anything, I hear Constance holler "I don't think so bitch!" She charges at Aurora within the next second. Without another word, all hell breaks loose.
Without breaking eye contact with the monster standing before me, I hear loud shouts and growls of the vampires behind me. They are jumping over me, and all around me, attacking every one of my father's followers. I stand here and watch as he looks at us all before, he finally looks right at me. Staring the devil in the face, a devilish smirk forms on the corner of my lips, as I nod my chin. Causing him to lose all of his patients.
He bends down at the waist, growling like a beast, as he comes charging at me. That's right fucker play right into my hands. I count to five inside my head, before I jump high in the air, flipping twice, as I land on my knees behind him. I don't wait another second before turning around and pulling the pen Constance gave me on the way here.
He looks from my hand to my eyes, laughing hysterically at me. His hand along his chest, before he charges at me once more. That's when I click the top of the device, causing the sword it really is to barrel out. With one swipe I cut his arm, practically slicing the ligament clear off.
I watch as he falls onto the ground, his hand holding the bone of his arm that is now visible to the naked eye. "You son of a bitch! I should have destroyed you the moment I ripped you from your mothers womb!" His words bring that much more hatred into my heart. This fucker has done everything within his power to hurt those around him.
A piercing scream cuts through the night sky, causing my eyes to follow the sound. Approximately five feet away from me, I watch as Constance has her one arm wrapped around Aurora's neck, her pocketknife embedded within her back. "No, you cannot do this to me." Whether those words are a simple cry or a plea coming from her lips I do not know, nor do I give a fuck.
Constance doesn't seem to care in the least either. I watch as she bends her face closer to Aurora's. A cruel smile upon her lips, "You know what would make this moment better?" She asks Aurora. Who stands there, agony clouding her eyes as they widen with fear. "Is if your family could watch you die. Never being able to hurt a single one of them ever again in this world."
"Like they didn't hurt me in return." I briefly hear Aurora say. I know Constance has had enough when she bares her teeth. "None of them ever gave up their soul for a soulless vampire," she bends that much closer to her face, so they are only an inch apart. "One that never cared about you to begin with. He used you to get what he wanted. Your offspring."
Aurora's mouth falls open, as her head turns towards us. She's looking through the crowd of fighting vampires. Through the blood, curdling screams, and chaos. When she finds my father, on the ground, his hand at his arm, as blood comes gushing from his body.
I look between the two of them, smiling all the more as he looks away from her. Looking at her out of the corner of my eye, I see devastation cloud her eyes, before a lone tear falls. Any fight that she may have had, vanquished, as she closes her eyes. Knowing what is to come.
Without mercy, Constance pulls the knife from her chest, lifts her hand in the air, and in one smooth stroke slices the blade through her neck. I watch, feeling glorious for the first time in years, as Aurora's head falls to the ground and rolls closer to my feet.
I stop the movement with my foot. Looking down for a moment, I move my leg as it's on top of the decapitated head. My father's eyes widen in shock for once in his life. Kneeling down in front of him, I look from the head that lays under my foot to my father's face.
"Looks as though you should have taught your little bitch how to fight, instead of just relying on her vampire abilities and that book that is now once again in Constance's hands." I lift one eyebrow, waiting to see what he'll do. As his head rises up, his eyes meeting mine, I flash him a conniving smile full of my pearly white teeth and promise of what's to come.
