Chapter 34: Secrets Revealed

Kyla

I couldn't believe what I heard this ugly creature saying as I was running through the woods. What I want to know is how my mother, once a witch turned vampire, could be the cruelest being alive? It's confusing to say the least. Everyone sits down for the long hall. The witches stand side by side, two of them crossing their arms over their chests, and the third glaring at us.

"I'd prefer not to sit. I need you to just tell us what you mean by saying my mother is the cruelest being alive here today." I copy their stance and glare right back at the blonde in the middle.

I don't give a flying fuck how powerful these three are. It doesn't matter one bit to me, I'll run over there faster than they can see and break all their necks.

The blonde in the middle, smiles a cruel smile. Leading me to believe she can hear what I'm thinking. "Yes, I most definitely can. Your hair matches your temper. I like it." She walks a bit closer to me, once standing in front of me only a foot away, she reaches her hand out to me.

"Allow me to show you what I am talking about." I know what she wants. For me to hold her hand, so she can take me back. Show me exactly what happened back then, but I find I'm a little hesitant.

If I do this, it'll become too real. I won't be able to hide from the truth any longer. I will have to face it head on, and to be honest even though we came charging here for that purpose, I'm not sure I'm ready for it.

"I'm right here baby girl." I must have been so enamored in my own thoughts, as Diedrek says directly in my ear. I hadn't heard him approach me.

Bringing a hand to my face, he places it along my cheek. Rubbing my skin with his thumb, calming my fast-paced beating heart. He looks deep into my eyes, letting me know he won't move from this spot. He plans on standing here beside me the entire time.

I give him a smile in gratitude, as I turn to face Bunny, stepping up I place my hand inside of hers. She smiles at me and places her other hand out as well. I take it, and within seconds the room is spinning, around and around. Until our surroundings change to a field being all around us.

It's nighttime and I see a handful of figures talking ahead. I look at her in confusion, but she doesn't say a word. She only nods her head in the direction of the people. I can feel the heat from her body, letting me know she isn't far behind. When I can see the faces of the people ahead, I stop dead in my tracks. Looking back at her, I am suspicious of what she's showing me.

"This cannot be right. It must be a trick you are playing on my mind." She simply shakes her head in the negative and points her finger behind me.

"Listen." That's all she says. One word, and I know it's going to be the most important in my life. Changing it completely.

Closing my eyes, I follow her direction, turning my body around I walk a little closer to the group. On one side stands Mortis, Diedrek's father, standing beside him is my father Tristan and another tall figure I do not recognize.

Standing opposite them are two older people, who must be witches. I can feel the power radiating off of each of them. They don't look familiar, but the two people standing right behind them I know. One is my mother and the other my uncle.

"I have heard about the humans fearing your kind." Mortis says with a cruel smile. He has something up his sleeve.

"Yes, they killed more than half of our coven. I wish to pay them back tenfold. Hurt them even more than they did us." The older gentleman answers him. My eyes make their way to my uncle and mother.

Shockingly, my uncle has his head down hiding the sorrow in his eyes. What really has my mouth falling open is the look on my mother's face. She has her own cruel smile, as she looks Tristan up and down like he's a piece of meat. I watch as he winks at her, and she licks her lips. What the hell?

"I believe we can help one another." Mortis smiles and holds out his hand. The older man takes it, and within the next minute a dark cloud grows over each of them, before everything calms once more, and the creatures of the night join Mortis, Tristan, and the other man I do not recognize. There are so many of them already, but more continue coming. As far as the eye can see across the field, they appear as if out of nowhere.

"My children of the night, let us feast on the true monsters of this world. Once we have had our fill, we will now rule this world, and take only those that will follow us. Kill everyone else." Within seconds I watch as everyone's fangs grow and they take off, my hair blowing in their wake.

"Our family, and people will be protected." The old man says to him, as though that was a part of the agreement.

Mortis bows his head slightly, "You have my word. You made it so we can walk in the daylight, making us the most powerful beings there are in this world. We will allow what little of your coven and your sister coven remains to live." The old man nods his head in thanks before turning to walk away.

My uncle steps up, "Father, wait we cannot allow this to happen." He begs the older man, who I now know is my grandfather.

"It's too late son. They needed to pay." He walks away as we hear the people's screams in the distance. I close my eyes, not wanting to see this anymore.

"I've seen enough." I cover my ears trying to drown out the horror going on around me. It doesn't work.

"Not quite yet. Take my hand." She holds out her own at my side.

I dread what else she must show me, but I want to leave this place so badly that I do. Once again, the world spins, and I recognize my surroundings all too well. It's the caves held within the mountains that we used for shelter. My uncle and mother stand before me. Both shouting at one another.

"Do not do this!" My uncle pleads with his sister.

"I must go; I do not agree with what you are doing. They were given their gifts from our father. To rid of the evil humans that wish us all dead." She places one last article of clothing in her bag. She tightens the knot and places it along her shoulder. When she faces her brother, he has both hands along her arms.

"Sister, this isn't right. You cannot become one of their minions. They will use your power for evil. You will make them that much more powerful." She flings his arms away,

"I hope I do." With those words she storms off, leaving my uncle with tears in his eyes.

"Where is she going?" My words come in a low whisper. I'm afraid of what the answer will be.

"I will show you." Within minutes, we are surrounded by four walls. They look familiar but different. Once I see who lays in the bed I know why. My mother is under the blanket, I can only imagine naked as the day she was born since all her clothes are on the floor.

Lying beside her is Tristan, and they are rubbing each other while they talk. "You know what you must do. Your brother and everyone must believe that I hurt you. Forced you for months as my slave, and that made you have a change of heart on things." He lightly draws his fingers down her arm.

She smiles, "Of course. I will tell my brother you have beaten me and had your way with me. That I support his cause now more than ever. I will get the information Mortis needs."

She looks up at him with adoration in her eyes. He pushes her hair behind her ear, "Good, that ought to work wonderfully. When you have what we need I will turn you. Once you are by my side, the three of us will rule this world once and for all." They both laugh cruelly as she climbs on top of his body once more. I close my eyes, not wanting to see their sexual time together.

"I will be queen, and you two my kings. We will rule among the vampires, the humans, and the witches. It will all be ours." After her final word is spoken, we are back in the old run-down house. The blonde witch and I standing in the middle of the room, our hands together.

"What did you see?" Lucas asks from behind me.

I can feel the tears welling in my eyes. I do not want them to fall, to show weakness, but I have a feeling I don't have much control over them right now.

"She was a part of it from the very beginning." My words are low, but I know Diedrek heard me. He has a confused look on his face as I look up at him.

"Who was?" He asks with his arms open wide.

I walk into his embrace, burying my face in his chest. Breathing him in, to calm down. "My mother."
