Chapter 15: Planning
Kyla
I am not too happy with everything I just heard. Once Satine and I finished our breakfast, we decided to come to the office to talk with the guys.' We stupidly thought they would want our input on the situation, but here they our discussing me like I'm not important enough to have a say in what happens.
Here's the thing, I understand what they are trying to do. They want me to be safe. I'm grateful for that, to be honest the thought of being under the same roof as his father scares me to my core. On the other hand, we are strongest together.
He pinches the bridge of his nose, "You're not going to make this easy, are you?" He asks already knowing my anser.
"Not in the slightest." I tell him honestly.
I watch as he takes a deep breath in, his chest moving with his actions. Once he releases it, he opens his eyes, lifts his head and he looks right at me. "I need to know you are safe. Safe from here. The only way to do that is to send you to be with your family for a few days." His eyes are begging me to listen to reason, but I'm too stubborn for that.
I can see agony grow within his eyes as we both stand here looking at one another. I know he doesn't like it any more than I do. He doesn't want to be away from me anymore than I want to be away from him. That's at least a good sign from my end.
"I understand that." I hold up my hand to stop whatever was about to come out of his mouth as an argument.
"Believe me I do." I say as I walk towards him. Once I'm standing in front of him, I reach my hand out and rub his cheek with my thumb and fingers.
"But we cannot be apart. It won't work, have you stopped to think that is part of his plan all along?" I beg him with my eyes in return to listen to my reasoning.
Diedrek's brows pinch together. I see the power of my words swirling around in his thoughts. Trying to work it all out. I'm so wrapped up in him I almost forgot there were others in the room with us until I hear Darius's voice.
"She has a point. That could be one thing your father wants. We both know how him, and your brothers operate. They could see it as an opportunity to frighten you. So, you will send her away and be at your weakest without her. Which will bode well for them in the end."
Diedrek's eyes shoot open, and he looks past my shoulders to his best friend, my brother. He pulls my hand down off his face and holds it within his. His eyes make their way back to me. He is looking between mine, trying to work this all out.
Finally, he stands at his full height, without releasing me he walks behind his desk. He sits down, pulling me onto his lap. He moves my hair off my face, so it's behind my ears once more.
Studying me with his eyes he asks, "What do you suggest baby girl? I'm listening carefully."
I look from his eyes, to Darius, and Satine, then back to him once more. My lips breaking into a smile. "I suggest, we contact my uncle and cousins. Tell them to come closer to just outside of the gate in case they are needed." My hand makes its way back to his face.
I cannot help myself. Diedrek is my anchor. I need his strength. "And we face your father and brothers together. When they come, we stand tall, tell them everything, and figure out a way to defeat them." My tone holds conviction, as I spout out the words.
Everyone is quiet for a while in the room. We can practically hear Satine gnawing on her lips. Diedrek sits back in his chair, pulling me to his chest. He closes his eyes and plays with my hair.
"What if he strikes you. I cannot take that chance. Don't you understand?" He whispers atop my head.
"Yes, I do." I tell him truthfully, closing my eyes as well. I can feel tears growing behind my eye lids, but I refuse to allow them to fall.
I pick myself up off his chest and glare up at him. "I will not leave you. We need to stay together. Once your father sees just who I am to you, he will know he cannot hurt me right away. He will have to produce another plan."
My voice grows louder with each word I speak. My annoyance at the situation apparent. He can fight me tooth and nail, in the end I will win either way. Either he will respect my wishes, allow me to stay here with him when his father returns, or I will escape from beneath my uncle's clutches and make my way back here to him.
He must see everything I am thinking in my eyes. His lips crack into a devilish smile. He brings his head closer to mine, kisses me on the forehead, and brings his to mine. He stares dangerously into my eyes. Making a mess between my legs yet again.
His smile turns feral, showing his perfect white teeth. He's enjoying what he's doing to me. Our heads snap up and we look at Satine and Darius once we hear him groan aloud.
"Seriously, come on. We may have just figured out you're my little sister, but seriously." His head is tilted back, with his hand over his mouth and nose. Trying to diminish the smell of what his best friend is doing to me.
"Sorry." I flinch with remorse.
"I'm not." Diedrek says at the same time.
I hear a slight laugh from Satine, as we sit up in his chair. Giving them our full attention. "Okay, let's say I allow you to stay." Diedrek begins.
I go to cut in, but he continues, "Are you so sure that he won't strike right away. That he will only meet you, and convene to his quarters and produce another plan of attack?" He asks.
I nod my head, looking him dead in the eyes. "I do."
I hold my breath for a moment, waiting to see what he will say at my conviction. He must produce his final decision, he nods his head and begins with, "Fine. I don't like it, but I know you feel strongly about this. Therefore, you can stay."
I go to celebrate my little victory, but he cuts me off with, "on one condition."
My eyebrows raise, with question. "That is?"
"Your uncle and cousins agree to be close in case we need them in a matter of seconds. I will not put you into the clutches of evil without having back up close by."
"I agree. I will reach out to them immediately."
"No, I want you to stay here in my wing. I will ride out to them at once and tell them what we need. Once I return, we will prepare for his arrival." His words leave no room for argument.
Which is fine with me. If I get to stay with him, I'm happy. Then, something enters my thoughts. "What happens if they arrive while you're away?"
"I won't be away. I'll be here in the castle, but I will be projecting out there."
"You can do that?" My mouth drops in awe.
"Yes, it's part of having witches blood coursing through my veins. I have special powers just as Satine does." He almost seems offended that I doubted his ability.
"I," I'm not sure what to say. I'm so surprised. I had no idea he was just like me.
He kisses my lips and smiles down at me. "We will discuss everything when I get back." He stands from the chair, setting me down on my feet.
"Get back? I thought you were staying here?"
"I must go to another part of the castle to do this. Don't worry, Darius will be here with you the entire time I'm gone. Satine will be going with me; it'll work better with the two of us."
Darius smiles at me. "Great, we can finally talk brother and sister."
His words bring my own smile to my face. "Yes, I would like that."
I give Diedrek a kiss, tell him to hurry back. Showing him through my eyes what I'm thinking we can do together once he returns. Walking them out to the living quarters he bends down close to my ear.
"Be a good girl for me until I get back..." Leaving what he will do to me once he is with me as a delicious threat.
Biting my bottom lip I watch as my mate and Satine walk out the door. I'm lost in my sexual thoughts for a moment, it takes me a second to turn around. When I do I see Darius is sitting once again in his chair, smiling at me. He shakes his hand towards the couch, "Shall we sis?"
"Absolutely." I have so many questions, I cannot wait for this time alone with him.
