Falling in Love
~Flashback~
One week into treatment
"So then. Where would be THE place?" Anti cooed.
"That's kind of dark." The voice echoed from the vent. It was followed by a small giggle, making Antis heart tingle with joy.
"Aren't we all?" He said, smiling slyly. He hadn't know this mysterious woman for long, but he had grown to know her over his first week of painful treatment.
"I guess." She giggled once more. "I'm not sure where I'd like to end it all. It's a big thing to do. And I'm not so sure killing yourself is a planned thing. It's more of a spur of the moment kind of thing." She said.
Anti smiled. "But the perfect place. Just choose anywhere."
She sighed. "Really?" She asked. He awaited her reply from the other end of the vent. "Well ok. I'd jump off a big cliff by the coast. I actually know a spot, I used to go there all the time. The air is sweet and there's always a slight breeze. It never rains there, it only drizzles. The grass is constantly covered in glistening dew and the soil's always soft underneath your feet. There's this one tree there with low hanging branches you can climb up on. And uh, this rock is right under it too and..." she trailed off. "Sorry. I'm rambling again."
Anti was hypnotized behind the vent. "I think I'm falling in love." He breathed, staring at the vent. He heard her rustling uncomfortably.
"Don't say what you don't mean."
"But I-"
"No, Anti!" She cut him off. "If I'm in love with you, I'll tell you. And if you reply, I'll know you'll feel the same. Got it?" She waited patiently for his reply.
"Anti?" He questioned. "No one has called me anything here besides my real name."
"Well, you haven't been quite like yourself lately, have you? And I thought it suited you."
"I do like it." Anti said, deviously smiling behind the vent. "In fact, I LOVE it." Anti could tell she was biting her lip through the vent.
"Where would YOU jump?" She whispered through the vent.
"Wherever you were. So I could see you one last time before I left this fucked up world."
He heard her steady breathing. Her pounding heart. He could practically feel her warmth radiating from her skin. It was both a curse and a blessing being trapped behind this wall.
He could get to know how she breathed and talked better than if he saw her. He got to know her quirks and her perfect flaws. He got to experience her without having to see her or touch her. It was sort of magical.
On the other hand, he just wanted to be with her. To have her in his arms. To feel her heart beating. To see her quirks and know what her flaws looked like. Getting to never touch her killed him inside. And even though he only knew her for a week, he knew he loved her. And if he ever hesitated before he responded that he loved her back, he may as well be dead.
At the bottom of a rocky cliff leading to a shore.
"I don't think you'll be waiting long."
She said sweetly, pulling him from his thoughts.
"For what?" He said breathlessly, lost in her voice.
"For me to tell you I love you."
