[Chapter 9: Psycho]

"Shit, shit, shit." You freaked out, turning towards Chris and looking him straight in the eyes. "What the hell are we going to do?"

"Fuck, I don't know!" He retorted in frustration - clutching his head with both hands and gritting his teeth.

"Oh no...please! This can't be happening...! Oh god oh god oh god...! This isn't right..." Ashley sobbed helplessly, watching the saw start to descend from the ceiling.

"Shit... shit... no! Okay...okay...okay...okay, this is gonna be okay..." Josh tried to calm himself down, though you could see the panic swirling around in his emerald-coloured eyes.

"Oh Crap. Oh Crap. Oh Crap. Oh Crap. Oh Crap." Chris groaned.

"Don't worry you guys, we'll um..." You held the side of your arms and trembled uncontrollably, "We'll save you both, I...I promise! Just give us a moment."

"Dude...buddy... Let's just think about this for a minute..." Josh decided to reach out to Chris and get him to rescue him instead - making Ash grow even more alarmed.

"Oh my god! CHRIS! You CAN'T LET ME DIE!" Ashley screeched.

"Just, just, just... Gimme a second... I, I- can't think straight...shit...!" Chris shook his head, trying to figure out a plan.

"Why are you doing this!?" You snapped towards the Psycho's voice in distress, not knowing what in God's name to do.

"Ashley I'll get you out of this, I won't let you die!" Chris informed her before pulling the lever, shock filling your mind.

"What!? Chris!" You shrieked in complete and utter betrayal, tears dripping down your face whilst you couldn't contain your feelings.

"Oh God...thank god! Oh thank you...thank you!" Ashley whimpered in relief, "This is insane...This is nuts. This isn't happening. Chris. Please tell me this isn't happening."

"Bro! Bro, we've been through so much, come on... I don't wanna go out like this...!" Josh complained unhappily, your heart breaking at the sight of his hurt gaze.

"Chris please! I'm so scared! Please don't let them kill us!" Ashley reverted back to begging and couldn't think straight, the upset girl losing her mind due to panic and hysteria.

"I know... I know we haven't been the best of friends lately...and I've been kinda messed up and everything...but I'm getting better, man... I swear!" Josh spoke dejectedly.

"CHRIS!!" You screamed in emotional pain, falling to your knees and crying while you couldn't bear to watch this horrifying scene.

"AAHHH!!! NO CHRIS!" Josh shouted as you banged your fists on the floor and tried your best to pretend that none of this was real.

"Ah...I see. You have chosen...to save Ashley." The Psycho concluded, forcing the saw to change direction and cut through Josh.

"OH NO! MY GOD, OH MY GOD, OH GOD, CHRIS! GET US OUT OF HERE!" Ashley resorted back to screaming as she flicked her head to the side and hung it slightly.

"Oh Josh... Josh, no..." You sobbed heartbrokenly, his screams stopping whilst the lower-severed part of his body fell to the ground. "This...This can't be happening!"

"No no no. D- Don't look, Ashley, don't look!"
"Why can't I look, Chris? Please tell me he's okay, please...!"
"Ohh..."
"No... argh!"

"I'm coming Ash, I'm gonna get you. I'm letting you down. Shhh - stop, please- Come on, come on, let's get you down... come on... we're gonna get you out of here..."

"No! No! NOOOO!"

"Shhh, we gotta go, okay?" Chris wrapped his arm around Ashley and supported her towards the shed door, waiting for you due to him not wanting to leave you behind.

Staying silent and stifling your sobs, you followed behind and re-entered the lodge; the three of you standing in front of the front door. "Chris..." Ashley turned towards him and clasped both hands to her chest, the two of them barely noticing how devastated you were.

"What?" He quietly responded, his gaze filled with both guilt and grief while he wondered what she wanted to say.

"Chris I just want to say...what happened back there in the shed... I know how hard that was... Josh was your friend..."

"Ashley, stop..."

"No, I want to say— I mean, thank you— Thank you for saving my life—"

"Ash...what was I gonna do? I...I couldn't let anything happen to you...I couldn't..."

"I can't take this!" You pushed past the two of them and gritted your teeth, your hatred and anger for Ashley and Chris rising by the second. "You let Josh DIE without a second thought! You didn't even think TWICE about saving him or not! Neither of you could've given a flying FUCK about Josh - and that was proven by the stupid spirit board bullshit you bullied him with earlier!"

"(Y/n), w...we didn't..."

"It wasn't what it looked like, (Y/n)." Chris sided with Ashley and grasped your shoulder - trying to reason with you.

"Oh yeah?" You whirled around, shoved him away from your shoulder and spoke in a challenging tone of voice. "Prove it then! Go on! Prove it! Bet you can't."

"W...We only did the spirit board thingy because Josh wanted us to, (Y/n)." Ashley stammered, reaching one hand out to hold yours. "I swear we didn't try something underhanded or anything like that!"

"Whatever." You tugged your hand away from hers and decided to head upstairs, "I'm going to find Sam. I have to make sure she's safe."

"(Y/n), stop!" Chris tried to stop you from leaving, "We should all stick together! It's not safe! I mean, look what just happened in the shed—"

"I'm surprised that you care about me, considering what you let happen to Josh." You coldly retorted, ignoring his concern and leaving them behind.

"(Y/n)!"
"(Y/n), wait!"

Hmm... Sam... Where would Sam be...? Oh wait, didn't she plan to take a bath once the hot water had been turned on? Yeah, she did. In that case, the fastest place to check would be the bathroom, right? So you hurried towards there and knocked on the door - not wanting to disturb her if she actually was inside. Silence was your only answer, so you attempted to try a couple more times before slowly opening the bathroom's door; biting your lip and feeling frightened when you saw no Sam. Now usually this wouldn't be so unnerving, but your friend wouldn't just leave the hot water in the bathtub like this. No... Something wasn't right.

Leaving the bathroom, you stepped back into the hallway and looked both ways; not knowing what to do. "Saaaaaam!" You called your best friend's name with your hands cupped around your mouth, worry washing through your veins while your anxiety increased.

"Seriously, Sam, this isn't cool!" Your voice echoed down the hallway as a clock suddenly chimed - causing you to grow scared.

"Ugh. Stupid clock." You muttered, wandering around the lodge and checking the place out one place at a time. You had no clue where Chris and Ashley had disappeared to, but honestly, you couldn't care less right now.

Checking the kitchen, you glanced around and sighed in disappointment - feeling very alone. "You in the kitchen?... "Cooking" something up? ...Hehheh." You joked to yourself before leaving the room, your fear rising.

"Where the hell are you, Sam!?" You yelled with desperation, walking inside the cinema room as it was the only room left that you hadn't checked. "Where did you go!?"

The cinema room doors closed suddenly, which made you yelp in alarm and look around frantically. "Hello, (Y/n). Looking for me? I don't think you'll have much luck by looking."

"Y-You-!" You recognised the Psycho's voice and panicked, shaking a tiny bit as you tried your best to stay strong. "What the...What the hell...!?"

"I have something to show you~" His sinister words unnerved you quite a bit, freaking you out whilst your eyes fluttered shut.

"What...What is going on...!?" You tried one last time to find out the truth; but you only got a dark laugh in response.

"Open your eyes." Nervously following the Psycho's advice, you opened your eyes and looked at the cinema screen - now stunned.

And why were you so shocked? Because the screen showed you sleeping on top of your bed in the Guest Room. "Oh my god." You whispered in complete and utter horror, unable to stop staring at the screen.
