INSANITY [complete]

She danced with Insanity:

**

She saw things that only appeared in people's dreams. Heard things that made people think she was crazy. She did things that a normal person would think twice before doing. But she wasn't crazy...she wasn't mental as most people liked to say.

'Don't talk to her, she is weird.' they would whisper loudly everytime she passed by.

'She is a loony!' the girls would scream when she attended her daily sessions with the school counsellor.

But no one dared to help her...no one dared to befriend her and share her troubles. They were all afraid, all afraid to risk finding out the truth behind her secrets.

It wasn't like she had any choice between choosing a normal life or the freaky one. She hated the way she was but her mother had thought differently.

'You are special', she used to say.

Even on her deathbed when her young daughter could clearly see the soul living her body, yet she encouraged her to believe in the things she saw, things she heard.

Her mother visited frequently even after the unfortunate accident. Sometimes in the form of a soft whisper or a cold touch on the shoulder. It was her way of showing her that she wasn't alone. Her daughter was always timid and now she was being forced to become brave, forced to accept the harsh reality that was her life.

She always walked home alone since noone bothered to offer a ride. She ran away from the aged as she could see the translucent bodies of the slayers hanging over them. It terrified her to no end making her think about the time they would come for her. When they would stretch their skeleton hands grabbing her neck, sucking the life out of her.

Her body quaked at nights from the horrid thoughts that plagued her mind. She couldn't do anything about it, she couldn't get rid of them no matter how much she wished for it.

She had even tried to end her life twice in the hopes that the visions, the ghosts of past would leave her alone. But her mother's wish would stop her. She had wanted her baby to live on, to taste the wonders of the world even though it sounded almost impossible to her.

Her ignorant neighbours had taken it upon themselves to send her to the best mental hospital as they felt pity for her. It had been the most awful experience of her life.

The doctors had smiled at her saying it was going to be alright when actually it was going to be ten times worse. The continuous shocks to her brain, the repeated questions asking if she thought she was crazy and being tied to the iron bed all night long, everything had taken a toll on her.

At the end of the last session she had finally managed to convince the doctors that she was stable now and had escaped the hell hole as soon as she could.

They could never understand her plight or the fears that grind against her skull. They would never notice the terrified looks in her eyes when she saw their deaths floating so close to them.

If only they knew about it...if only they knew the pains she took to walk that thin line between her nightmares and reality.

The pains she took to stay strong, then they would have seen with their own eyes her fateful dance with Insanity.
