"I'm pretty sure she's not a rapist, Sips..."

"She could well be!"He retorted.

"I-I'm really n-not, just a little t-tipsy."I brace myself on the counter of the small brewery in Jaffahampton.

"I think we're done here, Reni. And, it's getting dark so the monsters will attack soon. I think you should go home. You're living with Duncan, right?"Sjin gave me a small smile as Sips just scowled at me. I don't know if he likes me much...

I nod before I get out my jet-pack and go outside. I close my eyes and balance myself before I launch in the air, enough to escape the pollution and fly with the burning sky. I'm a still a little drunk so I fly clumsily. Everything was so blurry... Going left, right, up, down... Eventually I land at Duncan's castle, and again I land on my face. It hurt quite a bit, but I manage to knock on the gigantic doors.

The doors open to Duncan, in all his blonde haired glory.

"Sodium chloride."I say without thinking.

"Salt, right? I was cooking-ish... How could you tell?"Duncan asks, a bit of suspicion filling his voice.

"Instinct."I smile creepily."And it's telling me to kill you!"

Duncan looks really scared, he is even shaking a little. I burst into laughter and pat his shoulder.

"You should of seen your face! It was hilarious!"

"Yeah... Right..."Duncan muses uneasily.

"So, Green Eyes, whatcha cookin'?"

"Green Eyes?"

"Just roll with it."

"I was cooking some flux crystals,"He holds one up proudly. It glows an eerie purple and it has a node like thingy inside it. It's really pretty...

"Why do you need to cook it if it's not food? With salt?"I don't take my eyes off the crystal.

"Purification. This is pure flux. Anyway, come in before the monsters get you."Duncan grabs my arm and gently tugs me into the castle, briskly shutting the gate behind us.

I'm taken to the kitchen, where Duncan has two piles of crystals: one pile of dirty and unstable, and another of clean and controlled.

"Don't touch them okay-I'm erm, just going to check something."

He's lying. I knew that much. Why would he go? He knows I like them, because they're pretty... It's kinda obvious he's spying on me. I can feel his eyes on my skin, making me shiver.

My eyes widen. There are... Voices.

I feel my body get drawn to the crystals, and I feel Duncan tense. Wait, Duncan! If I join them, I won't see Duncan... Wait. I never wanted to join them anyway... So no! I won't join you!

The voices silence and Duncan walks into the room, a look of disappointment on his face and covers the crystals with a cloth."You're not human, aren't you?"

"What?! That's madness! I'm very clearly human!"I say, exasperated.

"Humans have a 100% chance rate of getting taken by the flux! You, are not human, Reni."He spits.

Duncan grabs me by my shoulder and takes me outside roughly. Pulling off my Jet-Pack, he tosses me off the edge.

I feel wind whistle against my face a I do the inevitable. Betrayal pierced my heart, why?

I fly. I grit my teeth as I soar up to Duncan. What will he say? I'm sure he'll forgive me, right?

I see his expression, and my heart sinks. He's pissed.

"Why did you not tell me, Serenity?"I flinch at his tone of voice.

"Duncan I-"I started.

"JUST LEAVE. If you're going to keep secrets, just leave! I bet you're related to that Dog, huh! I hate this-why do you conceal yourself from those you trust?! GO. You're not welcome here."He roars.

"I didn't do anything wrong, so get off my case! I don't have to tell you every single detail about me, Duncan! Fine! I'll leave! Go f*ck yourself!"I growl back as I fly away from the castle I used to call home. I head towards the black basalt fortress, Duncan told me that they were his enemies.

I land in the forest before the fort and run like the wind. I thought that I could trust him...

I guess not.
