Chapter 2
Towards the end of the day, (Y/n) cleaned up a bit with the conversation between the two women still on her mind as Daisy walks over to her, "Good job today, (N/n)!" She chirped with a smile, patting her back.
"Thanks." (Y/n) says with a small smile, she hesitates for a moment before asking, "Was there a girl who went missing yesterday?" She asked. Daisy looks at her with a small tilt of her head in slight confusion.
"Why do you ask?" She asks softly. (Y/n) shrugs a bit.
"I don't know. It's just that I heard from these two customers about it." She says as she walked to the register. Daisy hummed softly as she took off her apron and folded it up, placing it on the counter.
"Well, I don't know a whole lot about it. But she was a customer who came here frequently to get new things like face wash and such. Her name was Hailey Rockwell, pretty nice girl. But I heard other things about her that weren't very positive outside the shop among girls in her school and grade." Daisy sighed softly, "I don't like to judge people and I don't take part in rumors. From what I heard, she was last seen heading to school yesterday morning. She never arrived and was declared absent by her teachers."
"That's what I heard." (Y/n) says as she takes her apron off.
"Mhm, and she wasn't declared missing until after her parents waited for her to come home from school. They called the school and principal said that she hasn't come to school. Police searched last night and there wasn't a trace of her anywhere." (Y/n) nodded.
"That's strange." She says. Daisy nods.
"It is. And to think it was someone you talked to the day before they went missing is even weirder." She sighs, "I just hope she's okay. I pray for her safety and for her parents. They must be worried sick."
"It must be hard for them to sleep at night." (Y/n) says, "And was there a woman who went missing before her?"
"Yes," Daisy says with a nod, "She was a florist a few blocks from here. Her name was Jess O'Donell. Nice girl, quiet, has a husband and kids, two boys."
"They must be having it hard too." (Y/n) murmured.
"Yeah, a lot of people have been going missing for the past couple of years, mostly women. So don't be too offended if people are, like, really paranoid when talking to you. I try not to think about it and hope I'm not next." Daisy states as she headed to the back. (Y/n) followed as they get to the break room where their things stayed for the day while they worked.
"Have there been any possible leads?" (Y/n) asks as she slipped her coat on. Daisy shakes her head, with a small frown.
"None. The investigators are having a difficult time trying to find clues or anything to help them get close to finding the missing victims. The oldest ones that were the first ones to go missing are believed to be dead already but it isn't completely positive that they are." Daisy explains, slipping her coat on as well as she grabbed her purse. (Y/n) takes her satchel as they begin to head out after turning off all the lights.
"This town's strange." (Y/n) says softly as they walked out. Daisy hummed in response as she closed the door and locked it.
"It's weird, but it's still homey and nice. I've been here all my life. And to say that it used to be safe and quiet up until five years ago with all of this happening out of nowhere is kinda scary." Daisy claims with a small smile as she looked around. Cars drove by, it only being around eight at night. "Hungry?" She asks as she looked up at (Y/n), who looked down and she sheepishly rubbed the nape of her neck.
"A little." She admitted softly. Daisy nods with a smile, linking her arm with hers and started walking.
"I know a great place," She says with a hum, "Let's go stop by Eddie's shop and see if he wants to join us. Usually, he'll say no since he's busy with tailoring outfits for his clients or just tired."
(Y/n) nods, "Alright." She says as Daisy skipped down the street with her, mostly (Y/n) walking but trying to keep up since her arm was still linked with Daisy's. They soon reach a corner shop with beautiful gowns, dresses, and suits on the display windows. (Y/n) blinked as she stared at the clothing in awe, "Eddie made these?"
"Mhm!" Daisy says with a grin as the two admired the wedding gowns from outside, "Aren't they beautiful?"
"Most definitely." (Y/n) says.
"I've been wanting Eddie to tailor my dress for my future wedding sometime in the future." Daisy sighs dreamily, "I can just imagine myself in a wedding dress made by him!"
"That would be amazing." (Y/n) says.
"I know right?!" Daisy squeals with a grin, "C'mon, he should be done with his clients' appointments for today." She exclaimed as she pulled her inside the shop. The small entrance bell ringing as they opened the door and walked in. The shop was elegant in a way, more spaced out. "Eddie!" Daisy called as she walked to the back. (Y/n) walked around, her eyes examining the dresses and such as she felt the fabric of some. She looks over at Daisy and follows after her as they head to the back.
They get to a back room that was dimly lit with sketched out designs hanging up on walls. A mannequin wearing a half made wedding gown with pins and needles stuck into certain parts of it. Different fabrics laid across a table. (Y/n) looked around as she examined the designs.
"Hm, wonder where he is." Daisy says as she tapped her chin. A door from the back of the shop is heard opening and closing, soft whistling is heard along with footsteps towards the room. They both look at the doorway as the tall man himself is seen walking in. Eddie is caught by slight surprise seeing the two before sighing softly, measuring tape hung around his neck
"Hello, ladies." Eddie greeted as he walked over to the table, "Didn't hear you two come in." He said as he rolled up some fabric.
"Where were you?" Daisy asks with a small laugh.
"Out back having a smoke," He answered as he rolls out one fabric and picking up scissors, "Anything I can help you two with?" He asks as he starts to cut a specific length of fabric and walking over to the mannequin with the cut fabric.
"We were wondering if you wanted to get something to eat with us." Daisy chirps with a smile and (Y/n) nods a bit. Eddie held a few needles between his lips as he worked on the dress.
"I'm pretty busy." He murmured, "Maybe next time." Daisy sighs.
"I see. Sorry to bother you then." She says, smiling softly at (Y/n), "Let's go." She says as she starts to walk out. (Y/n) nods and follows, looking at Eddie, who was focused on making the dress, and walked out after a few seconds. Eddie stops working for a moment as he glanced back as they left the shop. He walks to the front window and watched them walk away while standing next to a mannequin in a wedding gown. His attention mainly on (Y/n) as there was a curious and very intrigued glint in his baby blue eyes.
"She's a quiet one..." He murmurs, continuing to watch them before getting back to work with a longing sigh. He grabs a orange prescription bottle that sat on his desk, opening it and popping a pill into his mouth. He closed his eyes as he let out a deep exhale through his nose while swallowing the pill.
They walked down the streets as various cars drove past them. "He always says 'next time' and it never happens. But it's fine since he's a busy person." Daisy says with a smile, linking arms with her again, "I'm starving though!" She sighs out in exasperation. (Y/n) laughs a bit as they walked.
"I am too." She murmured with a small smile and they continued their journey down to a small corner cafe.
