"Home"

The island was small, with around four thousand inhabitants only, and one of many little ones forming an archipelago. Two days a week, a little plane would connect them to the nearest big island, the mainland, and a merchant ship once a month. In other words, they were pretty much isolated from the rest of the world.

There weren't many schools, and the kids had to leave for the mainland to go to high school, and then to the big continent to further their studies beyond. They were many to leave, but very few returned. That would probably explain why they weren't too many.

The Celenis lived in a big two-storey house, built by themselves, with plans that mom drew for their big family. It was certainly busy and always noisy, but nonetheless, it was cozy, and a happy home.

To little Cassidy, it would always be her home, not only for her beloved family, but also, that was where her heart would lie in wait for her return. Because, she knew her time to leave was near, as she was growing fast.

Mommy wanted to keep them home, but daddy wanted a better life for them all. He would always push them hard, inciting them to study more seriously in showing them the hard daily grind of the island life.

At the end of each day, he would assemble all of them, to preach about family, religion and life.
He would tell them, wherever the God may send them, to always remember how they came to be, to share and help each other, for the older ones to guide and protect, for the smaller ones to listen and respect, and for them all to love and support each over.
Then they would disscuss everything and anything, sharing their opinions and the learnings of each day.

"The ocean is large, you can't even see the end. Go explore the world and pick up knowledge in your boat, for when you'll return, they will be your tool to build your future," daddy would say, as he smiled patiently at them.

And so, one by one, the children would leave the house, to go and get some knowledge, and find their place in the world.

Eventually, the time would come for obedient little Cassidy too. She never protested and never dared to argue with daddy and mommy.

Cassidy was timid and shy, with her avarage appearance. She was less tanned than her siblings due to secluding herself reading in her room, rather than running outside with the others. She had hazel eyes with long dark hair and she was quite skinny. She was so small, even her little sister Lilly was fast catching up to her height.

Cassidy was a little different from her siblings, often lost in her little world and going at her own pace. Everyone looked out for her, as she was easily intimidated and could be targetted by bullies.

She didn't talk much with others, but Cassidy could happily babble away with her mommy about anything. Appart from reading books for hours, what she loved the most, was listening to mommy telling tales about the time when she was younger still.

She liked to try and please everyone, but especially mommy and daddy.
And so, Cassidy vowed to herself that when it was her turn to go, even if she didn't want to, she would make them proud.

A/N: Hello there! Hope you're doing fine.🙂 Well, I'm still stuck on naming places (🙄again!). So while playing/searching/reading/waiting on their coming out, I'll just let little Cassy go on with her telling. Oh and I ask you for some patience, I don't know how it's done, I'm on pure instinct, guts and feelings here, lol.😅 Don't slaughter me please, but I'll gladly accept your opinions, so don't hesitate to point out errors and whatnot. Thank you and take care of yourselves!
