Chapter Six: Our Little Moment
Peach Pit - Peach Pit
Millie's P.O.V
"I'll come with you," he said as he started walking out his car while grabbing his backpack. My eyes widen at his actions.
"What, why?" I asked as I stand in front of him to stop his tracks.
"So you won't be alone," Finn stated as he walked passed me. I quickly get to the door of the shop trying to get out of the rain. I pull out my keys to the shop and unlock it. I push the door open and quickly get inside as Finn follows. I flick the lights on causing the shop to be more visible and flip the closed sign to open. I pulled my hood down shaking my head making the water in my short hair drip a little. I turn to Finn spotting his dripping wet hair start to roam around the shop.
"Since you're here, you wanna help me with my project now?" I asked while dropping my backpack on the counter and pulling out my yellow jacket shaking it, letting the water drip to the ground. The front entrance had a coat hanger where I placed my yellow rain jacket on. My backpack was soaked from the rain.
"Sure," He says while looking through all the vinyl. I walk up to the cash register and take a seat on the stool. Finn drops his backpack on the counter and hangs his wet jacket on the coat hanger. I open up my soaked backpack and pull out all my things.
"Shit!" I yelled seeing all my wet papers and pencils and my wet laptop. I quickly opened up my laptop pressing several buttons trying to turn it on.
"What?" Finn asks.
"All my things are wet," I said annoyed. I waited a minute until a bright screen popped up.
It works!!
I pulled out all my papers and lay them out letting them dry. Finn walks up to the counter and grabs a stool and takes a seat next to me.
"Damn, that's a lot of wet papers," he says while scanning all the papers.
"Thanks for pointing that out," I said sarcastically. He rolls his eyes and turns back to my laptop.
"Can we start now?" He asks.
"Yea," I opened up the music app and selected the piano section.
"Could you tell me exactly what your teacher assigned you to do?" Finn asks.
"He wants us to create our own song that can be any genre with the exception of classical which I'm not used to doing," I explained.
"What kind of genre are you planning on using?" He asks while spinning around the stool he was sitting on.
"Maybe, Alternative?" I said shrugging my shoulders. He nods his head.
"Good choice, does it have to be lyrical?" Finn asks while spinning his stool around.
"No, but I don't want to do lyrical" I stated with not a single hesitation. Finn grew shocked.
"Why not?" I jumped at his sudden tone.
"Because I suck at poetry and rhyming" I argued back.
"Okay fine, just let your inner creativity out," Finn says while spreading his arms out wide.
"Inner creativity? You sound like a hippy saying that." I said while raising an eyebrow.
"What's wrong with being a hippy?" He asks while crossing his arms defensively.
"Nothing lets just get back to work." Finn and I started our work. I pressed the piano keys, trying to make something pleasing to hear. Nothing seems to be working. Finn and I switch places. He continued pressing random keys trying to make something pleasing. We continued switching places several times for about an hour or two and we still haven't found the perfect sound.
A couple of customers came in while we were working on my project which only stopped me from doing my project for a couple of minutes. When I was on my laptop Finn would be roaming around the shop as he listens to me play and when he was on my laptop I would be roaming around the shop. Finn switched the instrument to a guitar and started playing trying to make something catchy.
"You can play the guitar?" I asked a bit shocked.
"Yeah, I've been playing for a while. I think since I was eight." He explained while playing around more on my laptop. We continued switching back and forth for another hour not even finding anything pleasing to listen to. I groan with frustration.
"Should I just take the F?" I asked Finn. I was on my laptop this time and Finn was looking through the pieces of vinyl. He gives me a look and only rolls his eyes.
"Come here," He says as he walks up to me pulling me out my seat and brings me to the front of the shop where there is more floor space. He pulls out a vinyl and places it on the record player and presses play. A soft guitar solo starts playing giving a slow tempo to dance to. The song "Peach Pit" by Peach-Pit was playing. Finn walks back to me and grabs both of my hands.
"What are you doing?" I asked pulling my arms away from him. He chuckles lightly at my nervousness.
"We are going to dance," He says while pulling my arms back to him.
"But I can't dance," I argued while pulling back my arms again.
"Well, then I'll teach you," He says while pulling my arms toward him again. He makes me place one hand on his shoulder and the other holding his hand. He places a hand around my waist while the other is connecting mine and sways with the beat of the music. I flinch a little from the feeling of his hand on my waist. I try to follow his footsteps until I stepped on his foot making his eyes squint a little from the pain. I quickly stop what I was doing.
"I'm sorry Finn, I told you can't-"
"It's okay Mills, just follow my lead," He says while cutting me off. My cheeks warm up from hearing my nickname run through his lips. I placed my hand back on his shoulder and my other connecting his hand with mine. He places his hand around my waist as I follow his lead.
As the music went on I felt his breath tickle my cheeks making them warm up again. He takes a few steps closer slowly closing the gap between us. He pulls my hand that's connected to his and placed it around his neck as he places his free hand around my waist. I look at him seeing a smirk placed on his lips. He spins me around unexpectedly making me lose my balance but quickly catches me.
I began laughing nervously at my clumsiness causing him to chuckle. His smile fades as his eyes were wandering down to my lips. I watched him begin to bite his lower lip. He leans in closely with his face only an inch away from mine. He slowly tilts his head to the side bringing his lips close to mine.
What is he doing? What did I do?
The sound of bells suddenly rings through the shop signaling a customer has walked in. I quickly let go of Finn taking a large step away from him and quickly look away from him.
"Welcome to 'Hall of Sound'," I said to the customer with my voice shaking. The customer only nods and starts to walk through the shop. I sighed with relief from not seeing the customer giving me dirty looks.
I really hope they didn't see what Finn and I were doing.
"So umm, you wanna get back to work?" Finn asks awkwardly. Tension was quickly building up between us.
"S-sure," I stuttered awkwardly while walking back to the counter and went back to work.

It was still pouring outside with the sun long gone and a full moon shining brightly. It's around six right now and Finn and I actually got some work done. Finn stayed with me until I closed up shop. I grabbed all my things and stuffed them in my bag while Finn grabs his backpack waiting for me at the door. I flipped the open sign to closed and pulling out my keys to the shop.
"Do you need a ride." He asks while glancing in the rain.
"No, I'm fi-"
"You're getting a ride." He says cutting me off while walking out of the door. I shut off all the lights as I walk out of the shop and locked the door seeing the shop pitch black. Finn was already inside his car with the engine on. I quickly run to his car door as the cold rain hit my face and get inside. I dropped my backpack on my feet and buckled my seat belt.
"So where do you live?" Finn asks while backing out of his parking spot.
"At Oakpoint," I said while pulling out my phone. No miss calls from my dad, thank God! The drive to my house from the shop is around 15 minutes which isn't too long.
"Can I turn on the radio?" I asked.
"Sure," He has a pretty old car so the radio wasn't too complicated to use. The first station that popped up was an alternative channel, I'm not surprised. It was playing "Sweet to Me" by Summer Salt.
Such a lovely song.
I continued singing the lyrics to the song. Finn started laughing at my singing skills and started singing out loud too. Finn turned it up the radio louder making me put my arms up high, dancing to the song and singing even louder. I suddenly feel a pair of eyes on me. I stopped dancing and looked at Finn. He had a wide smile placed on his lips.
"What?" I asked placing my hands down.
"You're cute when you're excited," He says with a smirk on his lips. I bite my lip trying my best to not smile at his comment as I feel my cheeks flush.
A couple of minutes later we finally made it to the front of my house. The pouring rain finally turned into tinny raindrops.
"So this is your house?" He asks while looking through the window at my side.
"Yup," I said while looking at my house. I sat in his car for a couple of minutes while looking at the road.
"Thanks for helping me with my project and for giving me a ride," I said while looking at him.
"No problem," He was quiet for a minute. I grabbed my backpack and opened the car door.
"Millie" I stopped in my tracks and turned back to him.
"Yeah?"
"I'm sorry about what happened at the shop, I-I got carried away," Finn says with a worried expression.
"Don't worry about it Finn, I really enjoyed hanging out with you," I said while smiling at him.
"Me too" I got out of his car and shut his door. He rolls the window of his car down once I got to the front door of my house.
"Later Mills!" He yells
"Bye Finn!" I yell back as he drives off.
