Chapter XL
Angelica looked around her room with a smile. After meeting with Lunafreya, she had immediately went to the hotel to rent a room. Except she knew she was going to need some extra gil in order to make it until her friends arrived. She was certain she could find some work in the morning. After a small supper, she took a soothing bath to relax.
Once done, she tiredly climbed into bed. Her phone suddenly vibrated, signaling that she got a message. She reached over, taking her phone from the table next to the bed. Looking at the screen, it was a text from Ignis.
"Hope I didn't wake you," it read. "But I just wanted to know how you're doing."
Angelica smiled to herself. It seemed like he was always thinking of her. She typed a reply. "You didn't wake me. And I met with the Oracle! She healed me!" She sent the message, almost immediately getting a response.
"Excellent news! So, everything went well on your end?"
"Yeah. Speaking of which, how are you guys doing?"
"We acquired two more royal arms," he replied, "and are currently camping out. Anyway, I'll let you get some rest. Sweet dreams, darling."
"You too, Iggy. See you soon."

Ignis smiled, reading the girl's last message. "Texting Angel?" Gladio asked.
Ignis put his phone away and looked over at the shield in the seat next to him. "As a matter of fact, yes."
"How's she doing?" Noctis inquired.
"She said that she met with Lady Lunafreya, and that she was healed by her."
Prompto let out a sigh of relief. "What a load off! That's one less thing to worry about!"
"When we get to Altissia, you're gonna have to take her out," Gladio suggested to the advisor.
"Yeah," Noctis agreed. "I bet she'd really like that."
Ignis nodded. "Not a bad idea."
Prompto hummed and dreamily gazed at the night sky. "Just imagine walking the streets under the stars and doing a little fine dining. What could be a more romantic way to confess your feelings to someone?"
"Actually..." Ignis adjusted his glasses. "Angel and I are already past confessions."
Noctis nearly choked on his drink. "What?! When did that happen?!"
"During our time in the assassin village," Ignis answered. "Let's simply say, we had a moment alone."
Gladio smirked. "Iggy, you sly devil."
"Woohoo! Way to go, Ignis!" the gunman cheered.
"Yes, well, now everything's out in the open," the advisor said, rising from his seat. "I suggest we get some sleep. The sooner we claim the royal arms, the sooner we can depart for Altissia once the ship repairs are complete."
~~~~~
Angelica was sitting at the bar in front of Weskham. Right after breakfast, she went down to Maagho's looking for work. Fortunately, Weskham had several hunts for daemons popping up in the city. Angelica took several, but seeing as how daemons only come out at night, she had all day to wait. She decided to do a little clothes shopping in the meantime.
She figured it would be a nice way to both fit into Altissia's classy atmosphere, and surprise the boys, namely Ignis, with something befitting a day, or night, out. She searched several clothing stores, but everything was extremely pricey. Unable to find anything that wouldn't take all her gil, Angelica decided to sew together her own outfit. She hadn't sewn anything together since Insomnia's fall, so it would definitely be nice to return to her favorite pastime.
She bought the materials she needed and went straight back to the hotel. She sketched out the design for an elegant dress, and got to work. She spent hours getting her outfit started. But once the sun began to set, she left for the hunts she took on. Once she took care of them, she reported to Weskham and received her reward. She then went back to her room, sewed a bit more, then went to bed.
A couple of days passed by and she was still following the same routine. She was actually a bit surprised by the people she had been helping in between her sewing and hunting. She had reunited a lost boy with his mother, helped an elderly woman with a bad back return home, even befriended a cat in one of the neighborhood streets. It was a new thing for her to help strangers, she used to never care unless they were close friends or family. After the events in Secreta, she had begun to change for the better.
It was a drastic change from how she used to act towards people she didn't know. Angelica understood now that she had been living with a darkened heart ever since she was little. As time went on, that darkness grew and began to change her, clouding her mind and motivating her actions. Her poor choices back in Secreta were proof of how blind she was. But because her friends never lost hope in her, her darkness was erased and she managed to break away from her inner daemons. She felt so much more free.
Angelica was currently in her room, working on her dress. It was coming along perfectly. Her phone vibrated, causing her to put her work on pause to check it. It was a text from Ignis. The bespectacled man had made it a habit to call or text her at least briefly everyday. Angelica smiled, reading his message.
"One last royal arm, then we're off to Altissia."
Angelica began typing her reply, "Great! I can't wait to see you."
"Nor can I."
The girl's mind began to wander back to Ignis's confrontation back in Secreta. The way he had approached her, unafraid of her hollow threats. It was like he could always see right through her. And then the way he kissed her and told her he loved her made her heart melt. She hadn't even realized just how much she loved Ignis until that moment. In the past days, she had definitely missed the feeling of being wrapped in his arms.
While Ignis was hoping to take her out once they met back up, Angelica was already planning for an evening with him. It wouldn't be long now. The girl would need to speed up her sewing if she wanted her dress done in time. But the anticipation of seeing her friends was steadily building. Though the time to herself had been enjoyable, she was eager to see the guys again.
A/N: Kind of a short filler chapter, I know.
