Day 4: Ashes
A small, timid sound squeaked out of the unused dishwasher. A little creak seemed to shake my glass of milk, causing me to lift my head. Ever since, I've been staring it down. I knew that it was just my childish imagination that told me a monster was hidden there
Big, and mean, four arms with sharp poison laced claws, teeth that flash with an orange-ish tinge, a tail, two long horns, two slits for a nose, and red eyes.
I shook my head and decided to do my homework elsewhere. 'Just a child, I'm just being silly'. Did I believe myself? No. I made a mistake and I knew it; my small intestine and the lump in my esophagus told me so. But an empty promise was enough to send me to sleep.
I woke up much later to the smell of freshly made dinner.
Ahhh yes this smells like the cooking of my mom. My mom can't cook. She burns everything. Right now, the smell of her signature flambe was getting rather strong. I heard the crackling of a campfire, but it was too loud and too close. But hey, a campfire's a campfire. am I right?
No, I was wrong, there was smoke coming from underneath the door. No longer okay.
So I decided to take a few off of my bucket list.
Scream a swear word as loud as I can? Check.
Throw a chair at my bedroom window to break it? done and done.
Jump out of the window? Yep.
As soon as I got down, I made out a figure that was burning my home to ashes. Two arms, no tails, no teeth were visible, but I swear. When it stared right at me, I felt cold. Whether it was the flame or just my childish imagination, it's eyes were bloody red.
