Chapter Six --Flair

As the battle raged on I could feel Icy growing weaker, and slowly the green that had once filled her eyes fadded to the light blue that was known for it's warm heartedness.

It took all six of us to stop her, but now, she lay on the cave floor; her cold body slowly seeping Ink over the ground.

All of us were covered in the dreaded Ink, and had we been mortal, we would have been writhing in the pain that it caused. At first we all just stood watching her, she had saved our pack-mates lives and done this to her-self... If only it had been me...

The sighlence was broken by Sun as he came to look at the body, Ivy matching his stride step for step.

Sun's face held no emotion as he looked at her and asked, "Is she dead?"

"No," I replied "She's just stunned, but she shouldn't get up again until tomorrow night."

I expected Sun to reply to me but instead Ivy did, "How do you kill and Ink?" She snarled, "If I knew I would kill her now!" Ivy's eyes blazed with hatred as she spat her response. But before she could continue Sun shot her a disaproveing glance, the turned his gaze to me once more.

"We must take her to the Rogue Forest and leave her there." he said in a quavering tone as he attempted to hide his anger. At first a guessed it was pointed at Ivy but as I watched I noticed that his eyes were no-longer on me, but on Icy. I had never before herd a father speak of his own daughter is such a disgusted manner.

And though my spirit longed to spit a distasteful reply, all I could do was bow my head and do as he had asked of me.

Before I could leave with Icy's ink covered body, a she-fox walked over to stand by my side, her white coat gently dappled with thin purple stripes and a single purple spot covering her left eye.

"Let me help," she muttered with a sad gleam in her maroon colored eyes.

"You can come, but you still can't help carry her, if you tried to help you might swallow some of the ink while carrying her." I replied gently as I lifted Icy onto my back.

The walk to the Rogue Forest seamed long and dark, even as the sun rose.

A trail of ink let out as we walked, and every now and then Icy's eyes would flicker open and closed, causing the she-fox to jump for she thought that Icy might be awakening.

When the forest finally came into view I began to worry about the loners and rogues that used the forest as a home. If they knew that we were here, they would attack in order to keep us from their territory. Once we reached the border I looked over to the fox who had come with me.

"You can go back now," I murmured "If they find us here they wont let us leave without a fight."

"No," she grunted "I need to see that she is rested in peace. You see I was her trainer when she was young, I was also one over only friends. So I feel responsible for her, after all, she only wanted to have her father care for her, even I can see that he will never do that though..."

"Why? She is his kin, he can't just say that she's not."

The she-fox shook her head sadly "our pack laws are different then yours and the other packs. Our law states that the leader can only have one true kin, if any. It makes it so the leader doesn't have a hard choice when the time comes. Anyway at their birth, Sun chose the one he thought was beautiful, but I know that on the inside she is evil and when she becomes alpha we will all die under her rule."

"How?" I gasped "She couldn't do that, how do you even know all this? I know she's ambitious but a killer!"

"Chai had a dream, a Purifier met her and spoke of how she would cause suffering. Chai has never lied, I trust her so I went with her to speak with Sun... She told him and he wouldn't stand for her words, he simply flicked his tail and sent us away! So Chai, Icy, and I all planned on leaving, on fleeing to the Northern pack because I have kin there, but then with what happened to Icy and all, I guess we just lost track until now."

"What about the others? Did you warn them?"

"Yes, the spirits plan to stop her ,but, the others say they would always stand by their alphas side no-matter what happens."

All of what the she-fox had told me hit me like a wave, war was soon to come and perhaps nothing could stop it but for now, we would need to try, "I will talk to the spirits I know, I'm sure that they will help stand against her at all costs."

After I spoke there was a few minutes of utter sighlence before we started to walk passed the border into the forest, soon that walk turned to a run, then a sprint. With the forest flying past me I didn't realize how far we had traveled until I herd the she-foxes even breathing become labored panting so I slowed to a stop.

The forest was cold even with the heat of summer that blazed everywhere else. I planned on leaving Icy in the lake, she wouldn't drowned but with the water around her she would be stuck, from what I knew of her I knew that she could not swim at all.

"Lets break here." I said as I glanced at the she-fox. But before she could respond, leaves crackled behind us, signaling the presence of other foxes. The she-fox's ears pricked as she also sensed their arrival.

It wasn't long before they revealed them selves. There was seven of them, each one holding at least one battle scar.

A strong looking male stepped forward, his pitch black fur separated strait down the middle of his body by a neon blue stripe. His eyes met mine as he lifted his bold head, one of them shown with hatred were as the other starred blankly at me, a scar seaming to cross it out.

"I am Blin," he snarled "Your pelt reeks of the packs and because of that you are our sworn enemy! Leave us at once or we will kill you."

Though this battle was obvious I knew I couldn't let them fight us near Icy's body, the ink would reach them and the she-fox.

"We only wish to leave her in the lake," I said calmly as I flicked my tail in the direction of Icy's body. "She will bring no harm there and we will leave."

"That THING will poison the water my foxes drink! And how dare you declare that thing as a SHE! Beasts like that thing are demons, they hold no gender!" he snarled as he dug his claws into the ground.

"I will not call my mate a THING or a BEAST," I grunted lowly as I slowly lost my patience "But I understand what you say about the water and such we will leave her here and go, we do not need to fight today. After all, anyone wounded near her will become an Ink as well, or do you know that already?"

Blin thought this over in his head as he looked to Icy then back at me, "Fine," he muttered "But if you are found her once more, we will not stop to think before killing you." he slashed his claws through the ground, leaving a long jagged stroke behind.

The black fox snapped his whole body around quickly and led his patrol deeper into the dark woods.

"Come..." I whispered to the she-fox as I turned to leave in the other way. She followed without even a nod to she she had herd.

I looked back to see the sun setting between the trees, the Sun's rays reflecting off of Icy's ink turning it blood red. Forcing myself to look away I led our was out of the dark woods.
