One Last Confrontation
Less than two seconds later, Flash was at the Central City Football Field. It was completely empty. Wally looked around and said aloud, "okay Thawne, I'm sure you know I'm here. Come on out!" There was silence. But then five seconds later, Zoom came rushing over to the football field, red sparks emitting over his body. "You wanted me? Here I am," he said in his sinister voice, "come for another ass beating?" Wally took off his mask and said, "I'm not here to fight. I want to talk."
The red sparks stopped emitting and Thawne asked, "why? What do you want to talk about?" He took off his mask, eyes glaring. "I spoke to Uncle Barry recently," said Wally, "more like I spoke to his Speed Force Spirit." Eobard crossed his arms and arrogantly asked, "let me guess, he told you to not give up despite the fact that I told you that you're not good enough?"
"More than that," corrected Wally, "he told me about the Time Wraiths that are coming for you. And that your days are basically numbered." Thawne looked down and said, "not even days..." Wally looked at Eobard and said, "Thawne, you're from the future. You know everything about me and Uncle Barry. Did you know how Uncle Barry was going to die in Metropolis?" Eobard nodded and said, "I did."
"If you did, why didn't you stop him from being killed? Is it because it was a locked point in time?" Wally asked. "Barry's demise was a locked point in time," said Eobard, "locked points in time never stopped me before, but I still hated your uncle, which is why I refused to save him. Would you have done it?" Wally nodded and said, "if I'd known, I would've used my speed to save Uncle Barry and Dick." Eobard chuckled humorlessly, "that's why they say the road to Hell is paved with good intentions." Wally frowned and said, "Eobard, instead of causing misery to all of us, why don't you surrender to the Time Wraiths? I'm sure it'll be a lot easier than trying in vain to postpone your eventual demise. Sometimes it's best to let go of the anger and hate." Thawne looked at Wally and asked, "why do you want to be kind to me? I've caused untold misery to Barry, you and all of your family... I practically allowed my obsession with Barry to rule my life, and where has it gotten me? Practically nowhere, and here I am, about to die when I could have gotten the honor of killing the real Flash myself. Why are you being kind to me? You could kill me right now if you wanted, and kick me when I'm down."
"If I did that, I'd be no better than Clark when he killed Joker in revenge," said Wally, "Thawne, if you surrender to the Time Wraiths, maybe that can help you atone for your sins." Eobard sighed in defeat. "Perhaps you're right," said Eobard as he looked at Wally one last time, "you truly are worthy to carry on The Flash's legacy, Wally West." Two dark spirits that looked like twisted versions of the Grim Reaper approached Eobard. These were the Time Wraiths, ready to capture Thawne and put him into a speed prison, a living death cell not unlike The Phantom Zone. "Don't do anything I would do, Flash." Eobard said. The Time Wraiths grabbed Reverse Flash, and he surrendered to them, and the three disappeared from this realm. It was like seeing someone being dragged to Hell in a horror film. And that was the end of Eobard Thawne, the Reverse Flash. Wally let out a sigh of relief. Nora Allen was avenged. No more tormenting. At last, Wally felt a great sense of closure.
