Chapter Five: Sanity

When questioned about my relationship with my fans, my answer is always repetitive and replicated. I love my fans. They will fight with you to defend me. They are my world. Black, white, Asian, Latino, there are as much apart of my music as I am. It actually sends me into a state of bewilderment when I reminisce on where I come from, and how far I have came.

A little boy from Gary, Indiana of Chicago. "Born with a small head and long arms" My mother would tell me. I came from being that young boy with only dream, transforming into a pop star who is some how capable of changing the someone's life with the simple gift of music.

Upon stepping out of the limo, my eyes set on my other family, my fans. Waving to their elated faces, I mouth "I love you more", while Bill desperately pushes me onward. I wished he wouldn't be so uptight sometimes. He knows how much my fans mean to me, they love me enough to not want to hurt me.

Continuing my route into the bookstore, I only pause to check if Jesse is still trailing behind me.

Surely she is, looking as gorgeous as ever. Her hair is set up in a high messy bun, giving her face an oval shape. her attire is simple; smokey grey turtle neck, midnight, high-waists jeans, and smokey grey canvas, sneakers. Even in her everyday clothing, she is still absolutely breath taking.

I mouth "I love you" to her, just before Bill turns to me, giving me further instruction.

"Alright Michael, now there is a line of fans already pre-picked for you to interact with. We've already informed them on the rules. a one minute of talk time, one autograph, and one picture" Bill tries to explain over the roaring fans.

I give him a quick nod, dodging a couple of claws.

As much as I wanted to protest the rules, because I know my fans love to hug, I figured, after one look at this crowd, that the rules were just fine.

All the while, I wave and smile to each fan as I pass, my mind travels on the subject of Jesse's feelings. She is so cooperative when it comes to my outings. I know it hurts her as much as it hurts me that we can't walk hand in hand wherever I go. She's my girlfriend behind closed doors, and it shouldn't be that way.

I've tried stressing this to Bill, but he would only roll his eyes and change the subject, or guilt trip me implying that my fans wouldn't like "sharing" me with Jesse, which makes no sense to me what so ever. My fans are compassionate people. They will understand that I can love them, while still loving Jesse a bit more. But, of course what ever Bill says, goes.

"I love you Michael!" A willowy blonde, squeals as she approaches me.

I have already been set and ready to begin the meet and greet session. I still can't believe these people are here for me. Once, a line like those was meant for five young boys from Indiana, now this line is for that one of the five boys, me.

"I love you more" I reply, reaching for her mini Thriller poster.

She cries hysterically as I carefully scribble my signature onto the poster, adding a small message before returning it to her. With clammy hands, she holds the poster to her heart and desperately tries to make out a sentence.

"M-Michael I love you... I love you more than I love myself. I-"

"Times up... Come on, move along please ma'am" Bill interrupts.

I watch as the girl cries out for me to help her as Scotty and Rafael escort her out.

"Bill, that wasn't right..." I scold.

He sighs and returns to his standing position beside me.

I really wished he wouldn't act the way he's been acting lately. Everything changed when Jesse came into my life, but things went downhill when I announced that Jesse was my girlfriend. Everyone was happy, everyone except Bill.

"I'm nervous Bill... I'm really nervous" I pace the living room of HaveynHurst, my hands clamming and my heart pounding out of my chest.

Rising from the mint recliner, Bill sighs heavily.

"I don't why you're so nervous. It's just that girl Jesse..." He nearly grumbles.

Ignoring his tone, I shake my head in disagreement.

"She's not just a girl Bill, she's THE girl. The girl that makes me pace a room, with fifty-million scenarios of how I'm going to tell her something, running in my mind. She's the girl..." I explain, plopping onto the love seat.

Bill frowns, furrowing his eyebrows in confusion.

"What are you talking about Michael?"

"I'm going to ask Jesse to be my girl. You know, my girlfriend"

Pinching the bridge of his nose, he mumbles something inaudible beneath his breath.

"Michael you're in to deep. She's just a fan. You have already filled her head making her think you two are friends. Don't do this Michael" He warns.

Rolling my eyes again, I hop up from my spot on the love seat.

"Bill she is my friend. But, I want to be more than just friends with her. I really like her...maybe even lo-"

"Don't you dare say it Michael. Look, I love you enough to give you a warning. Be careful Mike. Please." He stresses.

I nod, knowing he wasn't changing his mind.

"Michael... Hello! Earth to Michael..." Bill calls, snapping his fingers in my face.

I blink a few times, before remembering where I am.

"Sorry, I guess I was day dreaming a bit" I blush.

He nods, giving me a gentle smile.

"Do you want a break?"

Smiling to myself, it hit me that this means I can spend a little time with Jesse. I can't abandon my girl.

I turn towards the sun kissed woman in front of me.

"Do you mind waiting, while I go on a quick break?" I ask sweetly.

She blushes a deep red, nodding.

"Okay. I can break" I finally reply, standing up from my chair.

The line instantly flukes up and octave with roars of "I love you" and "You're the best".

I sweetly return their gracious calls, proceeding out of the main front of the store.

"Is Jesse still here?" I ask Bill as we turn into a new hallway.

He silently nods.

A smile spreads my lips, just the thought of seeing Jesse after being apart from her for so long, brings flutters to my stomach and heat to my cheeks.

"She's in here..." Rafael directs me into the lounge of the book store.

Sure enough, there she was. Her legs crossed and her gaze focused on the magazine in front of her. The lounge isn't as private as I like, but it has a door, which means Bill and "the boys" will stand outside while I spend fifteen minutes with Jesse.

"Hey babygirl" I smile, carefully closing the door behind me.

Quickly glancing from the magazine, she hops up from her chair and charges for me. I giggle as she wraps herself around my neck and waist. I happily oblige to her hug, wrapping my arms around her waist.

"God I missed you Michael. It's boring as hell, just sitting here" She complains, breaking our embrace.

"Babygirl, we've got to fix that mouth of yours. But, I'm sure it isn't that bad" I chuckle.

She steps back, placing both of her hands on her hips.

"You try sitting in a small lounge for over and hour with nothing to do, while your boyfriend is out taking pictures and giving autographs"

"Okay... you've got me there, but I'm sure Bill told them to give you a tour or something" I suggest.

She shakes her head, no.

"Not that I know of. Scotty just told me to come in here and sit tight 'Until Mister Jackson is finished'." She rolls her eyes.

I furrow my eyes in disbelief. I told Bill to make sure that Jesse would be okay while she waits for me. Instead of following my orders, he throws her into a room with nothing to do. I'm definitely going to have a talk with him.

"I'll talk to him...God that man"

"Michael, baby I'm fine. I can hold tight. I at least get to see you now. That's all that matters" She smiles, reaching for my hands.

"That's my girl, thinking positive" I smile, leaning into her face for a kiss.

She giggles just before out lips touch.

Sliding her hands into my hair, she deepens the kiss, backing up a bit. I follow her lead, asking for a tongue entrance. She happily obliges, allowing our tongues to become well acquainted. With each roll of her tongue around mine, I feel my body falling into her possession.

God what this woman does to me.

"Mmm. I don't think I'll be able to let you go so easily" She whispers, in a near moan, breaking our kiss to come up for air.

"I don't think I'll be able to go so easily either"

Before we could resume our steamy session, the door swings open, revealing no other than my guard Bill Bray.

"Mike Lets...um. Let's go" He breaths, pausing at the door.

I slowly detach myself from Jesse.

"I'll be back babygirl, just one more hour. Okay?"

She nods, her eyes glued on Bills direction,

"Michael..." Bill calls.

I sigh heavily, pecking Jesse's forehead before turning towards Bill.

Just before slipping out of the lounge, I glance back at Jesse, flashing her an encouraging smile. Though he expression was mostly disappointment, she still forced a smile.

I return my focus on my mission ahead.

No one ever said my relationship with Jesse would be easy, but then again no relationship really is. I know the waters are a bit rough for us, because we have to hide. But, I know things will get better, I at least hope so...

To Be Cotinued...
