“That’s the thing. I don’t just like you, Joan. I love you.”
I didn’t know what to say to Jungkook. “Oh.”
“Oh, indeed.”
“But you don’t know if I will start loving you later!” I protested.
“I don’t,” he agreed. “But I feel guilty.”
“Why?”
“Because Jin likes you and he’s known you for a long time. I don’t want to come in between.”
“How are you coming in between when I don’t even know if I like him?” I exhaled, exasperated.
“What if you do?”
“I like you now!”
He smiled. “I know you do.”
“Then what ails you, Jeon? Pray tell.”
“Yes, you like me. But I think you might like him too. And you’ve known each other since forever and I don’t want to take that away.”
“You’re not taking anything away.”
“Hm? Ever since you told Jin we’re dating, has he been the same? How’s your relationship with him? Is he avoiding you? Staring at you? Being angry?”
“He can be an angry young man. You don’t know.”
“I vividly remember you complaining to me that he was always too happy.”
I slumped against the wall, out of retorts. “So you want to give up on us based on your observations of a potential relationship?”
“I don’t want to get any deeper with you only to find out that you do like Jin after all.”
“And what if I don’t?”
“How about this,” he proposed, sliding his fingers under his chin thoughtfully. “The moment we break up, Jin is going to make a move on you. Once all of this is over, if you haven’t found out if you’re harbouring feelings for him, then we can get back together. But if you do like him, then well, that is the whole point of what I’m trying to achieve here.”
“Why are you so sweet?” I whispered.
He just smiled softly. “I’m learning from you.”
"Pizza is supposed to be cheesy. Not your words," I muttered and he laughed loudly. “So, we’re done?”
“Yeah,” he muttered, pulling me into his arms. “But we will always stay friends.”
“Always,” I mumbled into his neck, breathing in the smell of his cologne. “I want a goodbye kiss.”
He grinned. “As you wish, madam!”
I had just thrown my arms around his neck when a sudden voice came from the doorway. “We’re ordering pizza, do you have a-oh.”
I wanted to slam my head on the wall. How was it that Jin came every time I was doing something moderately romantic with Jungkook? We were always dripping in awkwardness.
“I have some leaflets from Pizza Palace, I think,” I said distractedly, disentangling myself from Jungkook’s biceps which were squishing me against the firm skin of his stomach. I glanced at back at him and he gestured to me to leave. I didn’t look back at him again.

“No pineapples.”
“But-,” Sara started.
“No pineapples,” I repeated harshly.
“I’m a guest here!” she whined. “Guests should be treated like God.”
“Lucky for me, I don’t know how to treat God seeing as he never came home.”
“You’re kidding! What am I? A porcupine?” Jin rolled his eyes from the bed.
“I was thinking you were more of a beaver, but porcupine works too,” I retorted mischievously and Yoongi thumped me on the back in appreciation, sending me spiralling into the bookcase. “You go gi- uh oh.”
I narrowly avoided breaking the bookshelf and my head in two by stumbling into Hoseok who was surprisingly strong and caught my arms with the gracefulness of a dancer. His shirt rode up his stomach revealing his perfect abs and I looked away, my ears flaming red. “Uh, thank you,” I said, blushing. “You are the only decent person withing miles.”
He grinned and clapped his hands together excitedly, his smile lighting up the room.
“Okay, so the conclusion is that we are having pineapple on the pizza. And roasted mango slices.”
Yoongi grabbed my cell phone from her. “Remind me to never let you be in charge of the food at my funeral.”
Sarah rolled her eyes. “What makes you think I’d distribute pizza in your funeral?”
Yoongi opened his mouth to be interrupted by Jin. “Yeah, why pizza? I was thinking we hire a street cart and start a fast food service next to your coffin. Pay and eat! Only two dollars.” He resumed talking dreamily into the silence. “My face would be on the posters everywhere- ‘Handsome young man takes over the food industry’ and people will be clamouring for my autog-”
“Yeah, stop Jin,” Jungkook groaned from the spindly armchair as he twirled round and round on it. “Whee! This is fun.”
“I’m ordering!” I yelled from the floor. I dialled the number, squinting to see in the bad lighting. I needed glasses.
“Hello?”
Immediately, several teasing high-pitched ‘hellos’ came from my group of irrepressible friends as they imitated me. I stuck my tongue out of them and placed my hand over the phone. “Shut up!”
“Hello? Yes sorry. I would like to order…”
“I WOULD LIKE TO ORDER,” annoying singsong voices hooted around the room and Jin, Jungkook and Sarah grinned wickedly at me.
“Si no te callas- If you don’t shut up, I’ll make sure you starve for the next three weeks!”
Silence.
Deep welcoming peaceful silence.
“I’m so sorry,” I apologetically told the poor worker at the other end of the line.
His deep rumbling laugh echoed over the phone. “It’s okay,” his low soothing voice hummed. “I have a crazy friend too. You were saying your order?”
“Um…yes. Six vegetable pizzas with extra cheese.” I ignored the groans that came at my words. “Oh and if possible, pineapple slices on one of them.”
“The pineapple here costs five dollars more and it sucks. Like really sucks. Tastes like gasoline,” the boy at the other end informed me. I laughed loudly up to the point where my small dimple appeared in my right cheek.
“Should I be concerned that you know what gasoline tastes like?"
"A story for another day."
"And you are sure you work for them?”
“Quiet sure,” the deep voice giggled.
“Okay, no pineapple,” I smiled.
“No pineapple it is. Thank you for shopping with us! Your order will be delivered in uh…Jimin, how much longer?” I heard another male voice reply something and he came back. “-in twenty minutes. If you could give me your address, I’ll have it delivered.”

“I’m not sleeping on the floor,” Yoongi complained. “I’ve been on the run for the last three years, if I see a bed, I’m collapsing on it.”
“Fine," I sighed. “I’m going on the floor anyways.”
“Why?” Hoseok asked.
“The lovely cons of being a host.”
“Somehow the cons didn’t go as far as to get me one measly pineapple pizza but whatever.”
“Sarah,” I groaned. “Shut up and lie down next to Yoongi.”
I had the satisfaction of seeing her turn beet red before clambering under the covers.
“I don’t mind taking the floor,” Hoseok kindly offered. I shook my head at him.
“You’re the only one here that deserves a bed and if they get to be on one, you definitely do. Besides, I don’t think you have had decent housing either.”
Hoseok hugged me tightly. “You’re so sweet!” he gushed.
I smiled and snapped my fingers at Jin who was watching me. “You’re sleeping down with me.” He grinned. I turned to Jungkook but he was asleep on the chair that he was playing with earlier.
“Can you grab me another blanket?”
Jin nodded and stretched his long legs before disappearing around the corner to the storage cupboard where most of my items were stuffed.
“Here,” he handed me a midnight blue coloured sheet.
“Thank you.” I carefully wrapped it around a sleeping Jungkook and tucked him in it until he looked like a big cute mummified doll. “Crap.”
“What?”
“He’s holding my fingers,” I whispered. I looked down in time to see him drag my thumb over to his mouth and suck contently on it with little sighs. “I can’t pull it away when he looks so happy! Plus his teeth are strong. Like little rocks. Does he eat calcium containing foods daily? I should ask for his usual-”
“Do you still have that doll I gave you when you were six?” Jin asked suddenly, interrupting me.
“Yeah, he is in the cupboard. Bottom right corner,” I answered slowly, confused at the change in the topic.
Jin came back a few minutes later and leaned over Jungkook. “If you leave her fingers, I’ll give you something nice to cuddle with," he whispered in Jungkook’s ear, who flinched like a little baby. Actually he looked more like a cat. A baby cat. A rabbit. A-
"Joan stop fantasising about animals," Jin grumbled and pushed the toy into Jungkook’s arm who left my thumb and drooled all over the blanket.
“That was surprisingly easy,” I muttered, switching off the light. I had barely gotten into bed before Jin turned to me hesitantly.
“Can I ask you something?” His face looked unearthly and beautiful in the moonlight.
“Sure.”
“Why are you dating him?”
“I’m not.”
“Huh?”
“We broke up.”
“Oh,” Jin replied with badly supressed glee. “Why?”
“Because he felt I might have feelings for someone else.”
“Oh. Do you?”
“I don’t know, Seokjin,” I hummed as I pushed his hair off his forehead.
Jin wiggled forward until our lips were brushing with every movement we made. “Would you like to find out?
I closed my eyes and sighed. “I really would.”
Jin’s plump limps enveloped mine softly as he kissed me.
