CHAPTER SIX
how to get the girl !

KINSLEY was currently losing her mind. she regrets ever telling stefani that she wanted to become friends with caitlin the second that stefani came back with noah, matt and madison and a large box.

"wait, are we trying to get them to be friends or get together?" madison asked watching as stefani was writing something on a white poster — the kinds of ones you use for a school project presentation — and with a bunch of colorful markers.

"friends?" stefani said in an unsure tone. she looked at kinsley who nodded her head but her eyes never leaving the tv in front of her. they were in oregon for three more days since on the twenty seven they go versus uconn. kinsley was excited for that one since she was going to see one of her good friends that's the photographer for their games.

"then why is it titled 'how to get the girl' with each letter forming a rainbow?" madison asked tilting her head to the side.

"um," stefani chocked with her own spit and glanced again at kinsley who wasn't paying attention. "i'm trying to get them out of their denial phase."

"you're doing gods work, stef." madison said patting stefani's shoulder. stefani got giddily and smiled at madison.

"seriously you are sis, it's getting pathetic watching them." matt said.

"pathetic watching who?" kinsley asked putting in netflix on the hotel tv and sliding even deeper into the comfortable bed. kinsley didn't receive an answer, instead she received five pair of looks. kinsley awkwardly looked away and continued searching for something to watch.

"why don't you invite caitlin over for movie night? and the other girls." madison said sitting at the edge of the bed that kinsley was on.

"why would i do that?" kinsley snickered putting on the category movies. madison rolled her eyes and snatched the controller away. "hey, mads!"

"do you or do you not want to be friends with caitlin." madison asked making kinsley roll her eyes.

"i really don't care." kinsley said reaching for the controller but madison backed up.

"come on, mads. aren't you tired of this stupid rivalry between you! we can't even hang out with them because someone you and caitlin always end up bickering!"

"you really want me to ask caitlin to come over?" kinsley asked squinting her eyes at madison who sighed deeply and nodded her head. kinsley stood up unplugging her phone from her night stand, "then go ask her yourself."

kinsley then walked out of the hotel room and made her way diane to the pool that was in the middle of all of the hotel rooms. kinsley knows she's overreacting about madison asking her to ask caitlin and the rest of the girls to come over, but she's not even ready for that.

she thought that they were going to take things slow. starting by pulling less pranks on her and actually cheering for her during the games since kinsley never cheers for her specifically. kinsley's just overwhelmed with her own feelings and it's not her friends fault. she just doesn't do well with new feeing and with changes around her.

"you're stalking me now?" her voice caught her off guard. kinsley's head snapped over to the jacuzzi where caitlin was at. it was dark outside and the only light illuminating them were the ones inside of the water.

"you must have low expectations for me then." kinsley said turning her head back around and drop her gaze back down to her feet that were dipped inside of the water. kinsley tilted her head to the side again and dropped her chin on her shoulder. from the corner of her eye she could see caitlin playing with the water but looking at her.

kinsley grinned and dropped her head. she picked up her phone and she had texts from the groupchat between the five of them. she needs a break. kinsley sighed turning off the phone and flipping it. she helped herself up by putting her palms down and tucking her knees underneath her body before standing up.

kinsley balled her fist up on the side of her body and threw her head back. can't believe i'm doing this. kinsley said to herself sighing roughly before turning around on her heel. her phone long forgotten.

caitlin tilted her head to the side and quirked her eyebrows up watching kinsley make her way to the jacuzzi. "kenny," caitlin breathed out as her eyes never left kinsley. not even when kinsley took off her oversized hoodie leaving her in black shorts and a black tanktop with a hot pink bra underneath. hot pink.

"what? it's a public jacuzzi," kinsley said snapping accidentally. she stepped inside of the jacuzzi and looked at caitlin who was eyeing her. "a picture will last longer, you know. for when you get lonely."

"and what makes you think that i cant visualize in my head?" caitlin shot back cockily. it surprised kinsley making her grin. kinsley shrugged her shoulders and dipped herself inside of the jacuzzi. caitlin kept her hands to herself even though her head was imaging what it would feel like if her hands touched her hips and brought her closer. the feeling is getting unbearable.

"yeah? and what exactly do you visualize." kinsley said not knowing the new dangerous game that she was playing with caitlin. she didn't even know what she was expecting for herself. it was as if her mouth was speaking fast enough that her brain wasn't comprehending and stoping her.

"well," caitlin's body had a mind of its own. she kept her body down into the water and the only thing out was half way of her shoulders and her head. her hair was in a lose ponytail with a bunch of strands everywhere lose or wet. she floated closer to kinsley until their bodies were only inches apart. "it's certainly not of you."

kinsley chuckled shaking her head and glanced down nervously. nervously. kinsley was going insane for feeling nervous underneath the piercing looks that caitlin clark was giving her. her breath was caught deep inside of her throat and chest as she felt her slim fingers reaching up to her arm.

push her. kinsley's mind screamed to her but she couldn't. her heart and her body were betraying her. her heart beating faster than it's ever has ever. her body being pulled to caitlin but she stayed in place. kinsley's eyes dragged over to caitlin's fingers.

caitlin hooked her fingers through the hot pink bra strap and put it back over her shoulder. by the time that caitlin realized what she did, the cheerleader and the basketball player faces were inches apart.

kinsley subconsciously pulled her legs apart and caitlin took one step forward and she was in between her. away, get her away kinsley. but her body kept on saying no. kinsley jumped a few stages in the friendzone and went straight to this. they aren't even friends. but this attraction that has only been growing through the years was getting harder to not act and to hide.

"kinsley! caitlin! we're going to the movie theather, let's go!" matt shouted shaking his car keys making a loud noise. kinsley and caitlin jumped apart — well caitlin jumped apart, kinsley stood up from her sitting position. kinsley got out of the jacuzzi and threw on her oversized hoodie and picked up her phone.

"you okay? you look like you've seen a ghost." matt said frowning his eyebrows and looking down worriedly at kinsley.

"um, yeah, im just," kinsley looked over her shoulder to see caitlin getting out of the jacuzzi. kinsley should've turned her head back around instead of continue on staring. can you blame her? the basketball player had muscles like no other woman she's known. the way she held herself up was just attractive as it is. "i'm going insane matthew put me inside of a mental institution right now."
