3. the morning regret
CHAPTER THREE
the morning regret !
"DID you know that a shrimps heart is in it's head, crazy." kinsley slurred throwing her head back. caitlin tried to keep her head up as she walked up the stairs to get to kinsley's apartment. "and it's physically imposible for a pig to look at the sky. can you believe it!"
kinsley brought her head back up. she put her hands on caitlin's shoulder. she couldn't really look at caitlin due to her eyelids feelings heavy. kinsley's eyes shot open as she felt something hard at the bottom of her hand.
"oh! well would you look at that," kinsley said very fast. she smiled — which didn't really look like a smile from caitlin's perspective — and lifted up her short sleeve showing her muscles. "i'm sure you drink steroids in a glass, huh?"
kinsley patted caitlin's muscles and wiggled her eyebrows. caitlin squinted her eyes glancing down at the girl who was heavily drunk. "do you know glass is a liquid? a liquid containing a liquid," kinsley said throwing her arm around caitlin and then throwing her head back. "nice, isn't it?"
kinsley passed out in her arms. caitlin shook her head as she was already starting to miss her voice. even if she was spitting random facts and practically flirting with her. caitlin opened up the door and closed it.
caitlin walked to kinsley's room. "mhm," kinsley hummed missing the warmth of whoever was holding her. kinsley turned to her back and reached out. caitlin put the blanket over her body before disappearing. "hello? he-hello?!" kinsley called out as much as she can.
"jesus kenny, you scream like someone was murdering you." caitlin said coming back inside of the room with a bottle of aspirin and a cup of water. kinsley smiled at the voice before frowning her eyebrows. only one person in her entire life had called her kenny. but she hates that person.
kinsley went quiet again and smacked her lips together turning to her side. "i'm going to go now." caitlin said turning off the light. but she never left. she stayed in her spot her eyes never leaving kinsley.
"can you stay?" kinsley asked scooting herself back. "just in case i puke." she whispered burying her head on her pillow.
"you're going to regret this in the morning."

"hey tell me why i saw caitlin walk out of that door this morning." stefani said as she placed a pancake on a plate. kinsley frowned her eyebrows and gave stefani a confused look.
"what? stef, don't be ridiculous she was never here." kinsley said letting out a humorous laugh and going over to the kitchen island. "hey do you know how i came back home?"
stefani put her lips in a tight line. she turned off the stove, patted her hands on her apron and took out her phone. kinsley shoved a piece of pancake inside of her mouth. stefani then slid her phone down to kinsley who picked it up while still eating.

"oh god," kinsley whispered giving stefani back her phone. "oh god! no! no, no, no!" kinsley groaned dropping her head down to the counter. "did i do something embarrassing? oh my gosh i hope i didn't or she wont let it go."
"you're worried about that? kin, she could've just left you there but she didn't. she brought you back home and stayed here because you probably asked her to stay. she deserves a thank you." stefani said grinning at kinsley.
"yeah why don't i give her a thank you basket as well?" kinsley said sarcastically but stefani shrugged her shoulders.
"it would help."

kinsley and madison were on their way to chick fil a. the groupchat between the cheerleaders and the basketball players kept on saying how bored they were. their next game was in one week and the girls have been practicing non-stop and they've decided to use one wednesday as a mental break and go eat as a group to chick fil a.
kinsley has been able to successfully ignore caitlin after that night at the party along with what she commented underneath her recent post. she doesn't really member what she said to caitlin other than spiting random facts since it's what she is known for when she is drunk.
kinsley did text caitlin a thank you but once caitlin texted back she never opened it up. kinsley hates her, there's no reason to try and make a friendship with her after years of nothing but bickering between them. she knows that caitlin wants the same thing. right?
"hey!" madison greeted spotting the bunch of girls sitting on the table further inside of the place. kinsley laughed as she saw that they had to join together two tables into one to be able to fit everyone.
kinsley went around madison as the girls all stood up to greet them. kinsley ignored caitlins way and went to sit down next to monika and madison. the girls said that they've already ordered for them since madison send a text message on what they wanted.
"wait wait, they drop you? ha!" monika laughed as madison was telling the story of just two days ago when they were doing a new trick and matt accidentally dropped his sister on the ground. madison glared at monika.
"it's not funny, i could've died." madison said which only made monika laugh even harder.
kinsley let out a laugh as she grabbed two sauce and opened them up. kinsley could feel someone looking at her. practically piercing a hole on the side of her head. kinsley caved in and glanced up at her. caitlin send her a grin but kinsley only rolled her eyes at her.
caitlin loves that. she doesn't care if kinsley is only rolling her eyes at her, calling her names, purposely leaving her name out whenever they chant their names at games, or flipping her off, caitlin's loves that she's the only one that gets the reaction out of kinsley. no one else.
"keep on looking at me and you just might have to start paying me for the second." kinsley said dipping her chicken nuggets inside of the chick fil a sauce and inside of her mouth. she didn't even glance at caitlin.
"don't flatter yourself." caitlin said scoffing and then nodding her head. kinsley squinted her eyes grabbing another nugget and eating it before glancing behind her. there was a girl, most likely their age, standing behind her ordering food.
kinsley laughed looking away from the girl and back at caitlin. "you don't have a chance with someone like her." kinsley said making caitlin's eyebrows shot up and lean forward.
"oh yeah? says who?" caitlin asked tilting her head to the side.
"you're that confident?" kinsley said and caitlin only grinned at her. kinsley knows that caitlin is competitive, about everything, but she never thought she would see the day where she sees it in person. "okay, the first one to get five phone numbers, boys or girls and not from the cheerleaders or basketball, before we leave wins."
"wins what?" caitlin asked intrigued by her offer.
"a dare." monika said as the entire team of both sides were listening to the two girls. kinsley and caitlin snapped their heads over towards monika who shrugged her shoulders.
"are you down clark or are you too scared to lose?" kinsley asked smirking. she's completely forgotten about her mind begging her to continue ignoring caitlin, to not talk to her. that's she's been doing good for the past week that she didn't have regain her voice from a dare. but this is how it goes between them. can't stay apart for too long no matter how much either of them try to deny it.
"are you going to keep talking or are you going to start asking?" caitlin said shooting up from her seat. kinsleys eyes widen as she stood up as well shoving another nugget quickly inside of her mouth before heading to the girl that caitlin was eyeing. caitlin's pushed kinsley but the smaller girl managed to slip between the girl and caitlin.
the girl smiled at kinsley and gave her her phone number and social media while she just gave caitlin her social media. when caitlin turned around to look at kinsley, the cheerleader brought up her fingers to crest an L and stuck out her tongue. caitlin rolled her eyes until she spotted a guy. kinsley was too busy bragging that she didn't catch when caitlin left to the guy.
"shit." kinsley muttered until her eyes landed on a group of boys and girls. kinsley giggled to herself and she made her way over to them.
the cheerleaders and basketball players all watched in amusement as the two girls went around the entire restaurant. they grew tired of watching them and went back into eating and back into their conversations.
by the time that they planned to leave kinsley was back in her seat calmly while caitlin kept on looking around. she wasn't going to let kinsley win, she doesnt let anyone win, it's part of who she is. kinsley smirked and held her head high as they walked outside.
"okay! it's the time that we've all been waiting for!" monika said with a speaker voice. everyone made drumming effects by clapping their hands on thighs. "kinsley, go first."
kinsley pulled up to her no number contact list which is of all the new ones. she counted them all and in the end had fifteen new numbers. kinsley was proud of herself, over something so little but she was proud. she doesn't care if no one is proud, she's proud. maybe that's why caitlin smiled.
"cait, you next."
caitlin took out her phone and started counting. her mind never letting go of the way that kinsley's eyes lit up when she counted her last number. the way that she was smiling to herself proudly. the way that she was holding herself up. caitlin pouted her lip and looked up.
"look like you won, kenny."
