New Rules Regarding Review Requests

After some discussion, we've decided to try some new changes to our rules regarding reviews. In the interest of showing off more of the great work that we do here as well as posting more regularly and giving all of our followers more reviews to read, we're going to start posting some reviews written by individual club members.

Please note that this will not in any way conflict with our normal schedule of group book reviews. We won't be taking any time away from that to work on these reviews. Instead, we'll simply be showcasing more of the work that our members are already doing.

Here at the GRA, we have a long tradition of offering private reviews to anyone who requests one. Traditionally, this is done by one member through PM, meaning that the review is given directly to the person who asked for it. We will still be offering private reviews and following the exact same rules (including the rule that states that they will only be offered if members have time for them and are not busy with other GRA projects that take priority). The change is that we may sometimes ask the author's permission to publish the review publicly in our review book as well as receiving it privately.

This will give the author a chance to read the full text of the review before making the decision, which should help to ensure that we never publish anything that they wouldn't want to be made public for whatever reason. Any author who came to the GRA specifically looking for his or her review to be private does not need to worry about a thing.

On a similar note, we may sometimes be publishing reviews that were requested of one of our members on an individual basis. Some of our members have their own private review books where they might review Pokémon fanfic according to their own rules. Since we respect the quality of work done by all of our critics and have an interest in promoting as many works of Pokémon fanfic as we possibly can, you might find some reviews posted in the GRA book as well as in the review book of one of our individual critics.

As previously stated, these reviews will follow the rules, structure, and format of the critic in question. They may look a bit different from a typical GRA review as a result, but they will be clearly labelled with the name of the critic who has written them.

Again, this will be done only with the permission of the author who requested the original review. We hope that these reviews will be helpful to the authors of the books being reviewed as well by giving them more exposure and a chance to reach a greater audience who might be interested in reading their work after seeing the reviews.

If anyone has questions or concerns regarding any part of this change, feel free to leave a comment below.
