Chapter 2
A year had passed. Monsters were outcasts once again. Once again, the targets, the victims. They lived in run-down houses, they couldn't make money, they couldn't get/keep their jobs, nothing was working out for the group of outcasts.
It was an unusually warm day in autumn when the monsters were meeting in the abandoned town hall building on their side of the town. It was crowded by every monster that was once in the underground, as well as their human friend Frisk.
"Why don't we move away! We could start a new town, or be part of a different, more accepting town!" one monster shouted.
"No that won't teach them anything!" another retaliated.
Undyne spoke up now, "we can take the town by force! King Asgore, they can't be reasoned with! This is their fault! I personally volunteer to lead the rebellion!"
This stirred very mixed emotions from the monsters. They did not want to start another war, yet they felt that the only way to make any progress would be through violence.
Up until this point, king Asgore had said nothing. He finally broke his silence and took centre stage, immediately quieting the crowd of angry monsters. "As you all know, I don't like resorting to violence. I don't think that it is necessary..." his pause kept everyone on edge, "however, I can't deny that perhaps, this is an exception."
The crowd couldn't help but gasp. Never would they have guessed that their leader would suggest something like this. A hush fell over the entire room, not even the sound of movement penetrated the stale air.
"How could you?" a barely audible voice questioned. It was the unmistakeable voice of Toriel, in an unusually depressed and surprised tone. All eyes found her in the crowd. She was almost in tears, hands clasped over her mouth, shaking. "H-How could you say that? What happened to my Asgore? I thought you had matured, obviously, I was wrong."
"Honey, you must face facts. I'm sorry but... the humans cannot be swayed. We've tried, multiple times but we're in poverty. We're suffering and we need to stop it," Asgore stood his ground.
"You are a coward!" Toriel screamed before storming off, slamming the heavy doors behind her as she trotted out into the street.
The crowd slowly turned their faces back to their king, horrified at the events unfolding in front of them. He stood, still holding his ground, face stricken with grief and sadness and yet an unwavering determination. Frisk, the silent saviour stood up from her seat and hugged the kings' legs. He smiled and picked her up, hugging her back.
"Asgore, we are with you, no matter what you decide," Undyne stood, making her way to the front of the stage. She bowed to her king, "what ever you may have in mind, I am with you. We are with you."
The other monsters followed her lead, bowing to their king who was beginning to tear up. He bowed back to his kingdom and the rigorous planning began. The beginning of the monster mafia. The only two monsters who were absent were Toriel and Sans, who had slipped out during the commotion to find his dear friend Toriel.
As he ran down the road, he could have sworn he saw a flash of red and yellow between two building, but he was far too busy to care. However, the smell of flowers and death itself seemed to cross his path a few times.
