Chapter Twenty-Eight: Levitating

*April 2026*

Kacy arrived in South Carolina to spend a few days with her friend. She was going to the store and grabbed healthy food and snacks, all in the same bag. She picked up the heavy bag, put it on the front seat because she was too strong to hold it, and got back in the car to drive away.

*Kacy appears*

Kacy: *drives to Lori's house, parks in the car, gets out of the car, walks to the porch carrying the bag until she knocks on the door*

Lori: *gets up from the couch and goes to the door; while opened and sees her* Well, well, well, look who's back home to Kacy! *smiles and hugs her*

Kacy: Hi! *doing the same*

Lori: It's been waiting for each other for years.

Kacy: I know we've been missing face-to-face communication a lot. There are some reasons I can go down to see what's going on in SC, and it feels different.

Lori: Yeah, everything is still gonna be the same.

Kacy: You know, but you're right. It makes me a little bit happier, and also, it gets to die for.

Lori: I've gotta pay on my own again for two weeks.

Kacy: It's been past by yesterday.

Lori: *hearing*

Kacy: So I'm back for a couple of days. Trust me. *caresses her face*

Lori: Kacy. You're my best friend, and I'm glad you came.

Later, Jamie was driving the car with Mona, and he parked anywhere in the parking lot as long as he took a break from driving to chill out in the spot.

Mona: Jamie... we gotta put the money with each other's mouth.

Jamie: Why are you saying that?

Mona: If Rachael or Greg gets involved again, or they'll be surprised to see you alive, it's on your victim. We've gotta find a way to sneak out.

Jamie: Mona, it's been going on for a week.

Mona: I know. My mom is alright; I had to stay in touch with her without getting shot again.

Jamie: *looking at the window*

Mona: What are you being afraid of?

Jamie: Missing my friends; they would like an OG like we used to.

Mona: Me too.

Jamie: *hearing*

Mona: I miss my OG friends, too.

Jamie: We were hanging out for a moment, not a lot; if I see them reuniting, we would hang out often.

Mona: There are two of us on the campus now; we don't have any allies left.

Jamie: Angel can handle us.

Mona: How would you do that?

Jamie: He's gonna bring more backup against these two.

Mona: Barely he can do this shit every day; he busts his ass off if he prefers to us.

Jamie: *hearing and rolling down the window while looking at the sky*

Mona: *whistle quietly*

Jamie: You want to go see your mom?

Mona: *nods*

Jamie: *starts driving*

Later that night, Terry and Salim walked around the city while chilling for half an hour when the weather turned nice again. Terry looked at the apartment while Salim texted on the phone.

Terry: Look at this.

Salim: *looks at the apartment* This one disgusts me. Why do you always choose this? They have bedbugs or roaches for a reason, but it means nothing. You cannot live over there for rental.

Terry: *hearing*

Salim: Interesting to me; you have to find a better one. You still ain't got no money enough for you.

Terry: Get the fuck out of here; I'm in all with that.

Salim: You're weird, you know that?

Terry: OK, OK.

Salim: Drop dead gorgeous.

Terry: What?

Salim: I'm saying as long as I'm free out here. Oh yeah, I ain't gonna stuck with my grades, no way.

Terry: *on his phone while talking too much*

Lori, Casey, and Kacy play Scrabble on the table with wine and a drink. They play for almost two hours, and Casey wins twice, except for the girls.

Lori: You know what? Let me take a break for a second.

Casey: I'm not kidding; I know you've been trying, and you did well, Kacy.

Kacy: I was hitting so close to defeating both of you. I would not be kidding. I should snooping you around for once.

Lori: Casey, don't encourage her.

Kacy: Come on, Lori. *smiles and almost laugh*

Lori: *hearing knocking and opening the door while seeing Irwin and Elena* It looks like we have more party...

Elena: Party? What party are you talking about? *comes in with Irwin*

Irwin: I just saw two of them by the table. Jesus.

Lori: Not bad at all.

Elena and Irwin: *goes to the table*

Irwin: Playing Scrabble, how long do you guys play it?

Casey: Two hours straight.

Elena: Damn.

Lori: Guys, this is Kacy. Kacy, this is Elena and Irwin; they're both in college and have not graduated yet.

Elena: It's been a long journey since community college. I met her while she was in regular college and while I was in community one.

Kacy: How very, what did I surprise? Do you guys wanna continue?

Lori: I brought these. *shows them with The Game of Life board game*

Elena: Bring it over here.

Casey: I guess it's time for me to lose it.

Irwin: I got you, man, don't worry.

Casey: I think I need a moment. *watching them*

At the hospital, Mona looks at Janie chilling on the bed. She heard that Janie was good to go in the next few days as long as she recovered from a gunshot wound. Janie is focused on TV before turning off the TV, and Mona looks at her for a second.

 Mona: What's wrong?

Janie: I remember a thing.

Mona: What thing?

Janie: Ana came to my class. I thought she could talk to me for a second, but I didn't expect to see a gun in her hand. I felt I didn't feel sorry for her after she betrayed me.

Mona: That is not your thing; her whole situation is terrible; she set me the fucked up a while ago. I think she's gonna come after me too.

Janie: *sighs quietly*

Mona: After everything that I've been through with her, I don't feel regret; that's her regretting. She helped me through the bad things that happened on my own; she would take a risk on my grades; she knew that she had tricked me after we took the tutor; it was because my grade was torn down. She kept saying it was tough on me; she had the same score as me.

Janie: *hearing*

Mona: I don't know what I'm supposed to do next, but I'll try to do my best.

Janie: When I get out of there, I'll help you out. First...revenge.

Mona: *hearing*
