Chapter Twenty-Seven: I Know
Later that night, Jason, Chloe, Oscar, Lili, and Lydia leave the Broadway show from A Beautiful Noise. Oscar and Chloe head to the car on the way back to the campus. Oscar takes a couple of stops; instead, Chloe is with him, and she doesn't mind.
Oscar: *driving on the road, taking a shortcut*
Chloe: *looking at the phone while looking at the window* Oscar, I thought you said you would make a couple of stops anywhere in Atlanta.
Oscar: I am. But I'm taking a shortcut; it's not even that far.
Chloe: *hearing*
Oscar: *hearing phone call and answers* What up? Yeah, yeah. I got her. She's in the front. What do you want me to do with her? I'm dealing with the other. Okay. You got it, partner. *hangs up*
Chloe: *looks at her*
Oscar: *still driving*
The next day, Jason, Tabby, Blue, Simon, Lili, Sam, and Kacy hung around in the same room at the dorm, playing board games on the floor; they had enough room to sit on to play against each other.
Chloe has been waking up slowly since she returned from the campus last night. She has been beaten down before and doesn't remember many things; she knows the truth only because that happened to Oscar. She didn't reach the call while getting a rest after she returned. She looked in the mirror to see that her face was bruised. She was still fine on her face so that everyone would see her face because she would have to fight back sooner rather than later. She goes to Jason's room and knocks on the door while hearing the group chilling until Kacy opens the door and sees her in the face.
Kacy: Oh my god, Chloe? Come in!
Chloe: *comes in and sees them*
All: *chattering about Chloe's face while getting up on the floor*
Kacy: *shuts the door and locked*
Tabby: What the hell happened?
Sam: Who did this to you? Where's Oscar?
Chloe: Oscar went rogue; he joined with these dirty bitch cops. I'm doomed.
Jason: *sighs*
Lili: *banging on the dresser with her fist while feeling angry about Oscar's betrayal*
Jason: Blue, you come with me.
Blue: *hearing*
Jason and Blue begin to search for Sandra and Titus when Jason drives around the town in Atlanta. They decide to go to a different city to continue searching. It's hard to find them after they are ready to payback and rescue Oscar; he travels to Covington with Blue to look around on each street.
*Gas station*
Jason: *puts the pump into his car and waits*
Blue: *chilling in the car*
Jason: *gets the message from Lydia and reads it*
Lydia: *text* You gotta switch it up. Meet KJ, he's a friend of mine in Covington.
Jason: *texts* Pretty sure we're already in Covington, stopping by the gas station.
Jason and Blue went to KJ's house and had a conversation. When the boys exited the car, KJ opened the door, letting them in until he poured some coffee from two cups on the table, went to the living room, and sat on the couch waiting.
KJ: Lydia just called; she wanted me to meet with you. I've heard about her friend's brother. I know! I know the cops who've been snitched and sneaking upon each other every time. They are not real cops.
Jason and Blue: What?
Jason: What are you talking about?
KJ: *grabs the laptop, opens it, and shows them with cam feed for Sandra and Titus to expose*
Blue: They are so done. They're criminals.
KJ: They are a fraud, too.
Blue: Damn.
KJ: And you are?
Jason: I'm Jason, and this is my friend, Blue.
Blue: What's good?
KJ: I sometimes work with Lydia, Sandra, and Titus McMann.
Jason: Siblings?
KJ: Brother and Sister. They kept jealous of you both and came up to us.
Jason: Same energy; that's what these guys wanted to tell the threat.
KJ: *hearing*
*Atlanta, GA*
Luke and Chloe: *walking together around the corner outside of Georgia State Station*
Chloe: Luke, remember when we kissed for the first time but never connected enough for our relationship?
Luke: I remembered. We're working our crew together from being friendly.
Chloe: Yeah, we have never kissed again. We were getting together as a team after what happened to Renee.
Luke: We have, but I hear Renee is focusing. I'll be watching us while she's in heaven.
Chloe: I have learned from you the most since I started this school; you learned from me, and everyone learned from me, too. I am making myself a wish when I step up to my career beside my brother without drifting apart.
Luke: It's up to you. It's fine with me that you usually hang out with Blue; he greatly cares about you.
Chloe: Yeah, I know.
Luke: Blue, always being my brother. We're going through things for each other, helping with homework. He is trying to get you to understand first by any means necessary.
Chloe: He already gave it to me a lot. Blue and I...we're not married yet but are waiting for the future.
Luke: You're not even 30 yet.
Chloe: I know, I know. They drove me nuts when I said I was marrying him. So don't get twisted on me.
Luke: Listen, I'll be back out here a little while. I'm about to ride in Vine City.
Chloe: Be careful.
Luke: *goes to Georgia State Station and waits for train*
River: *getting chased by the local girl thugs and on the way to the station*
Luke: *sees the train coming until he sees River and stops them* Woah, woah, woah, she's with me.
Girl 1: Is she on your side?
Luke: As of now, why would you girls pick on the other side when you are chasing Snowflake around?
Girl 2: Come on, let's bounce.
Girl 3: It ain't over, bitch. *looks at River and walks away with the girls*
Luke: Come on. *looks at River and goes to the train* What happened?
River: I was in the shopping. I just saw the girls trying to steal, and I told the employees caught red-handed. As soon as they left outside while I was purchasing my stuff, when I got outside, the girls just way at it. Saying something to me, and I punched her in the face, and I got taken off.
Luke: You should mind your business. Right now, they're on the list with you.
River: It's not my fault; I'm not afraid of hostile people. I treated some of the nicest people I've ever had.
Luke: *hearing*
River: I'm fine.
Later that night, Jason, wearing a red hoodie, was chilling outside alone, waiting for Lili while he sat atop the car; he and Blue had returned to Atlanta less than two hours earlier. Lili, parked right in front of his car, gets out to start a conversation with him while walking over.
Lili: How did it go?
Jason: KJ is full of surprises for me. He showed the camera on his laptop, and he could hear the conversation with the audio. Sandra and Titus are not the cops.
Lili: Wait, what?
Jason: Uh-huh.
Lili: How could it be possible?
Jason: He followed them to hear the whole thing, disturbing things, serious things. It's just crazy.
Lili: *sighs* I knew it.
Jason: He said Sandra and Titus had a plan and were heading to Chicago next week. Oscar will be out here, too.
Lili: As if we can find his ass and bring it back home to us.
Jason: *hearing*
Lili: What's the different plan for this?
Jason: I had to think about Chloe. Come on.
Lili and Jason: *gets in their car*
*Georgia State University - Chloe's room*
Lili: We need to investigate this. Will you be with us in Chicago next week?
Chloe: *hearing*
Jason: Chloe, KJ says Oscar, and the other two will be there whether if we see Oscar, it comes our way.
Chloe: They can ride through hell with the others except me. Oscar can do nothing about it! He doesn't know what he is doing; he's been brainwashed. The fuck. Both of them should've gone to jail for the rest of their lives.
Lili: We know.
Jason: That's what we need our plans while we are out here.
Chloe: *hearing*
Jason: *looks at Lili hugging Chloe*
Lili: We're getting through with this. OK?
Chloe: *hugging her while tearing down*
After Tabby helped Chad with the homework in Chad's room, he collected the stuff while Tabby was lying on the bed to relax. He tried to leave with the door open.
Tabby: Chad, before you go, call me and let me know when you're stuck in your head first.
Chad: No problem. I had so many more to come. Stay tight. *leaving and shuts the door*
*Luke's room*
Simon: What's up with you?
Luke: Stressing a bit.
Simon: Why not?
Luke: I need to get out of town for a bit, and I don't wanna hear complaining.
Simon: *hearing*
Luke: *looks at him*
Simon: Since you said you don't wanna hear complaining, hold onto this. *takes out the gun and gives it to him*
Luke: *grabs it* I would've done that before. I can control my destiny but not my fate.
