Chapter 6: Thankfulness
*One week later*
Arthur getting ready to go the school for the day, he's still recovering his body from a few days ago. The school having a half day today, when everybody arriving at the school. Tony walks over to the locker he opened up and takes out the few stuff until Haley walks over to him.
Haley: Tony, are you doing something for Thanksgiving?
Tony: Yeah. My family business over Thanksgiving. A lot of folks would be there.
Haley: I'm just making your mind cause same as mine. When the day is done right after Thanksgiving, just going back to school and being bored.
Tony: But you keep saying that.
Haley: *sighs* By the way, I gotta get going before the ring bell starts to kill me. *leaving*
Tony: *shuts the locker door*
Jamie walked to the student lounge sat on the couch and opened his homework assignment. He tried to finish up before the next class started soon because the paper made him difficult all day yesterday.
Jason ran to the student lounge until he saw him when he sat next to him.
Jason: What are you doing?
Jamie: I'm trying to finish my goddamn homework before my class will start shortly.
Jason: Are you serious?
Jamie: Yeah, I'm serious. This assignment gives me a hard time for all this bullshit.
Jason: Come on, try to finish up and I'll see you in class. *leaving*
Jamie: *still working*
Arthur and Mia left the school when they were on the way to the movie theater as they entered the building, Arthur paid a ticket to see, "Last Night in Soho".
One hour later, Mia's father searches for his daughter anywhere until he goes inside the theater when he finds the right door in the theater and sees Mia with Arthur.
Mia: Dad, how did you-
Mia's father: Let's go. Mia, now!
Mia: *looks at Arthur*
Arthur: *looks at Mia*
Mia: *leaving with Mia's father*
*Mia's house*
Mia: I can't believe you, Dad! You always picking on Arthur, just like you blame Teddy for no reason. He's not the type of the same person. He's different.
Mia's father: I don't give a fuck about the newbie. He looks just like your boyfriend, doesn't he look like his brother?
Mia: *screams*
Mia's father: All I want is for you to be the best of yourself without getting harassed. Your friends always protect you.
Mia: What about Arthur, he could care more than me and his family. He doesn't have any problems or trouble lately. Did you see how Arthur got jumped and you helped him? Open your eyes and explain that.
Mia's father: Because the last time you see him, don't ever expect anything for Christmas this year and that's final.
Mia's mother: Are you out of your mind?
Mia's father: That's my rule. *went upstairs*
Mia: *follows and punches him in the face* Karma is a bitch. *leaving*
Mia's mother: Mia!
Later that night, Jason walks to Dark Alley which is an urban street alongside homeless encampments, crime, gangs, and bars. When he was supposed to meet up with his uncle but he didn't show up as soon as Jason called him:
Jason: Frank, where the hell are you? I'm right here at this spot.
Frank: Change the plan. I'll be there tomorrow, I just got up from a nap.
Jason: *sighs* Fine. *hangs up*
*Arthur's house*
Steve washed the dishes after they were done eating the food when someone heard the doorbell, Jennifer opened the door when she saw Mia standing on the porch.
Jennifer: Mia, how can I help you?
Mia: I'm sorry to disturb you because I had a rough time.
Arthur: *sees Mia* Mia.
Mia: Hey.
Jennifer: You can come in.
Mia: Arthur, we need to talk.
Arthur and Mia went to the room when Mia wanted him to hear a whole conversation about her dad.
Mia: Arthur, I can't live like this. I-I'm just done. *sits on the bed*
Arthur: It's about your dad?
Mia: Yes, he still getting annoyed with you, all the time.
Arthur: Well, your dad needs to stay out of my business.
Mia: I already took him out.
Arthur: *sits next to her* Good. You shouldn't let your father run out of his mouth.
Mia: I don't need him.
Arthur: *rubbing her back*
Mia: What about my mom? I wasn't going to tell you for a while. My mom was going to divorce him.
Arthur: *hearing*
Mia: My dad doesn't like to stick around with my friends except me.
Arthur: So what's next?
Mia: I have to think about hearing what my mom had to say.
Arthur: Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. A favorite night of the year, just promise me, wear something perfect.
Mia: Do you think so?
Arthur: *nods* My family going to the diner for Thanksgiving.
Mia: I'll be there.
The next night at Thanksgiving, Mia arrived at the diner when she saw Arthur standing next to the door, they looked at each other.
Arthur: You kidding me, right? *looks at her street clothes and smiles a bit*
Mia: I escaped the house.
Arthur: Well, same energy. Let's hop in my family.
*15 minutes later*
Steve: Have you learned anything, Mia?
Mia: Well...I write the journals like Rhythm, poems, and a diary.
Steve: That's good but the only thing is when you write the book, you will become famous.
Mia: To be honest, I'd like to do different things besides what was written.
Steve: *nods*
Jennifer: I know you going through a hard time against your family, your parents should forgive you as soon as possible.
Mia: I can appreciate when I'm gonna get outta my head.
Arthur: *holding her hand*
Mia: *looking at his hand*
Arthur: *smiles*
Mia: *smiles*
Arthur: Well you like to be thankful with?
Mia: A town, school, music, and friendships.
Steve and Jennifer: *hearing*
Arthur: Mine is sports, education, and good friends.
*Meanwhile*
Jason: *walking to the dark alley and sees Frank standing next to two people*
Frank: What's going on, nephew?
Jason: I see you hang out with two boys. You must be proud of, it when you guys need to offer something.
Frank: I've had a little idea.
Jason: What's up?
Frank: I need money from the bank, man.
Jason: Wait I'm sorry what?
Frank: I need to rob a bank. For real, I'm dead serious. I have to.
Jason: You know damn well you're gonna go out there and get hunting. When you surround to go a crime after you robbed a bank.
Frank: Jason, I don't know what you're talking about. It doesn't make sense at all.
Jason: Frank!
Frank: I need someone to come with me.
Jason: *sighs*
Frank: This is my last chance. I need to get the money and get the fuck out of the town or I'll be in jail by tomorrow morning.
Jason: OK, fine. I'm with you. My parents don't give a damn about me when they see me what happens. I have a plan, three of you need to rob while I'm staying in the car.
Frank: We can do that.
Jason: When we rob?
Frank: December 1st. It's time.
