Chapter 24: Authority
*September - Portland, Oregon*
Jennifer and Steve came to the office building for the work day as they were having a meeting today when Steve looked at the time they had enough time before half an hour left. They're splitting up before they go to their spot with the computer and files as long as they waiting for the meeting. Steve goes to the computer for a hot minute when he is typing something while Jennifer sets up two coffees when she is making it until Amy walks to the other room and sees her.
Amy: Well, well, well. If it's Jennifer McClain. Ready for the meeting?
Jennifer: Kind of.
Amy: Jennifer, you told us to say that we become an authority, right?
Jennifer: I prove when go back to the beginning when we started.
Amy: So what are you gonna do, now?
Jennifer: I had to change my identity.
Amy: Well, you should know better. I have to be honest with you ever since you moved into this town, I want some more profit.
Jennifer: OK, we can do that. We can make it a deal.
Amy: In your house once again, tonight?
Jennifer: Yes.
*at the courtroom*
Ms. Mulwray: Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, the evidence and testimony that was presented in this court tell a dark story. That Frank Porter has a history of violent behavior. That he started not one, but local urban groups. He assaulted a homophobic who was helpless a thug. He went "wilding" in the Dark Alley and threatened to tell the cops to make an excuse to shoot a young man in the face. While partying with his friends in the town of Portland, Frank Porter ran into the blocks and shot the victim, Franklin Stewart, point-blank in the head. Now. A shot Frank Porter claims to have heard, but not seen. Who knows the truth of what happened that terrible night in the street I'll tell you who. That man.
Ms. Mulwray: *sits back down*
Frank: *looking at his attorney and hears something in his brain*
Frank wakes up from the dream and he lives in the rented apartment from the past summer when he saved the money to move there whether he can do it for the better. His brother, Tucker wakes him up because Frank forgot the time clock for the work. Right now he is working security guard in the mall. Tucker is waiting for him to get his stuff ready to go the work before he leaves the apartment with Tucker as they get in the car before it takes off.
Tucker drops Frank off for work he tries to make Frank feel better for the rest of the night before he gets the message from Steve and it says about the meeting in the house tonight and he accepts.
Later that night in Steve and Jennifer's house while their son was out at the university, they began the meeting about the situation for the update when they were prepared for the position while they became the authority.
Jennifer: I've made y'all some hot coffee on the table over there.
All: *grabs the cups*
Jennifer: Hopefully, like I said one of you guys wanna choose the position or even decide to do so. From this moment on, I have to move on with all this bullshit office because I feel too bored to be in it. Eddie, Amy, and my honeymoon keep doing what you guys doing in the office, and don't mess it up. We're gonna save Amy bonds including her cancer.
Amy: *smiles*
Jennifer: I want to be a lawyer.
Steve: OK sweetie. As long as you train hard to fight back to get involved anyone in the case.
Jennifer: I was trying to make myself deal, Steve. I'd like to become to, speak for myself with a very powerful quote. Just to be honest I was in the courtroom after I caught up to get in trouble before I had an ankle monitor when I was a teen.
All: *hearing*
Jennifer: This is it for me. So, anyone else you wanna choose the position to make things right?
Tucker: 9-1-1 operator is good for me which is why I already started. I have to settle in when everybody will show up in the state.
Bill: I must guarantee this, office building. I'd like to stay in the office to hang out with some people and just talk to talk every several hours by the time I get off work.
Joel: Firefighter. My father used to work there before he passed.
Jennifer: I'm sorry to hear it.
Lola: Office building.
Simon: Food market with cashier.
Heidi: Criminal Justice course in the university.
Alex: Social Worker.
Jennifer: Interesting. These things when you folks choose the position, that should be on fire. Let's drink it up. Making money is art and working is art and good business is the best art.
