For a while, Gamora was remembering what happened to her planet when she was a child. Her mother and she were hiding from Thanos's people until they were found out then separated. That's when Thanos found her and distracted her by showing her a knife while his people killed half of her people.

As she thought of this, Peter came to her and she asked him a favor. If Thanos got a hold of her, she made Peter promise to kill her. She knew something that Thanos desired to know and if she was killed, it would prevent Thanos from finding it out and he couldn't wipe out half of the universe.

Peter agreed to do so and they kissed. But they found out Drax was there, who heard everything. He insisted that if he stood very still, he would be invisible. But Mantis proved him wrong about that theory.
