His legs weren't responsible for keeping him upright and stable. No, they couldn't be, not when they felt so numb and feeble all of a sudden. It was obvious that the embrace of the older's veiny arms around his lower waist was the factor not only keeping him on two feet but also savoring whatever was left of his sanity.
And as much as he didn't want to admit it to avoid the regrowth of guilt and, to not draw up conclusions solely based on the moment and thoughts that he'd most likely regret later, Felix couldn't lie and say that that wasn't the best kiss that he'd ever had. Yes, he was in a loving relationship for a while but, goodness, standing there in a cloud-like choreography with the lips of another-
Standing there with eyes closed under the balcony's moonlight and back slightly arched whilst a man held on to him so securely, even the very idea of heaven seemed invaluable when compared with the earthly sensations that they were both experiencing.
But alas, they had to pull away for the necessity of oxygen, and they couldn't help but label it as pathetic since something so lovely and favorable had to be halted for its sake. Nevertheless, their faces remained in close proximity; foreheads pressed together, warm breaths fanning each other's faces and, a small smile lifting both their cheeks, making Felix's blush deepen at the flaunting of the older's dimples.
"You love me?" Chan whispered, snaking a hand up from Felix's hip to hold and stroke one of his freckled cheeks. "I feel bad that someone was broken because of me... and I know it's selfish but... I'm kind of- I'm kind of happy... because I love you too..."
"I figured," Felix giggled, head leaning forward after a heavy breath to kiss Chan's lips again; softer, shorter, and even moister that time. But then he sniffled. His face scrunched and, his eyes closed in an attempt to limit the number of tears that started their way down. "I'm sorry," he coughed, sighing when Chan cupped both his cheeks to wipe them up. "I'm so sorry..."
"Don't be sorry, Felix," Chan mumbled near his ear upon taking him closer to his clothed chest, pressing gentle, comforting kisses to his head. "It's not your fault, okay? If anything, it's mine... but let's not go pointing fingers. The heart wants what it wants, and neither of us should be blamed for that," he pushed Felix forward by his shoulders, periodically leaning in to rest soft pecks along his cheeks.
"Yes but," Feix paused, shaking his head and breaking down into Chan's chest, "I- I still have a problem, and I don't want to end up hurting you in the end... if we try anything."
"Hey," Chan hummed, completely getting where Felix was coming from, and honestly growing kind of fearful, because of that. But he hated that feeling- he hated the messed up assumptions that his mind was brewing for the younger boy, no matter how realistic they seemed.
But at the same time, he wasn't willing to cut those thoughts off because, it was his heart, and no amount of reassuring speeches that he could utter right then and there would help in any way if Felix really did fall out of love again in the future.
"Don't think like that," he tried to be optimistic, choking back his own tears. "You love me... and I love you, right? So anything can happen... We don't need to rush anything, especially as we're both scared... we could take things slow. Now that we both have confirmation of mutual feelings, we don't have to worry about the other moving on..."
Sniffling, Felix nodded, finally pulling away on his own and, looking down to hide his cheeks; flushed red from embarrassment. "Thank you," he mumbled, the way that his small hands were so effortlessly covered by his sweater paws making the male before him coo a bit; soft and too low for any to hear. "I- Just thank you... for everything... thank you..."
"No, thank you," Chan blushed, taking both of Felix's hands into his and, sliding his thumbs up and under the thick, comfy cloth to stroke the back of his palm. "Thank you for making me a father, thank you for taking care of my son so well, thank you for always opening up to me, thank you for always confessing to me at the right timing, and thank you for just being you, Felix."
Smiling, crying, and sniffling all at once, Felix nodded, shivering when Chan leaned in to kiss him, again. "Stop making me shy," he mumbled against the latter's lips, rolling his eyes playfully when Chan only smirked at his request. "Anyway..."
"Anyway?"
"Will you... goonadatewithme?" Felix babbled, cheeks hurting from their constant stretch and, face and neck a shade of red that they themselves did not know was accomplishable.
"What?" Chan ribbed, folding his arms against his chest, tilting his head to the side, and narrowing his eyes as if to make the slim boy even more intimidated; he made out every word that Felix had said, but of course, he wasn't going to flatten his ego so easily. "Speak clearly, Lix."
Sighing and burying his face into one palm whilst his other arm hugged his upper torso, Felix spoke again, still muffled but a bit slower and clearer than the first time. "Will you go on... a date... with me?"
"A date?" Chan feigned surprise, sucking in a breath through his teeth and, looking up as if he had to ponder on that question to give a substantial answer. "Am I really being asked out right now?"
"Stop making this harder for me, Chan," Felix whined and chuckled, bouncing on his heels like a restless teenager. "If you're going to say no, just say it..."
"Now why would I do that?" Chan teased, voice lowering and, both hands finding his back whilst his upper body leaned closer to Felix's, of course, for another kiss. "Way to go for stealing my line but, yes, Felix. I will go out with you. I'd love to go out with you. I wanted to ask first but, yeah."
"Hmph..."
"Let's go back in before your friends think we're fucking," Chan laughed when Felix visibly choked on his own spit. "C'mon," he sang, nudging the younger's shoulder, "unless you want to-"
"Shut the fuck up," Felix cut him across with a soft giggle, well aware that Chan was only joking and would never see fit go through with anything sexual even though he himself had shown willingness; Chan was sensitive like that, always adapting to the environment and knowing what lines to cross and which not even to look at. So he knew that Felix wasn't ready mentally nor physically for something like that, after everything that had been going on. "You want to spend the night with me and Kai...? I- I could give you the guest room?"
"I'd love that," Chan smiled, nodding. Walking into the living room, they both looked around for the people they had left there but, only Jisoo and Minho remained, and the woman was seen already packing up her little girl's backpack whilst the latter bid Kai goodbye.
"We had a good time," she smiled, walking up to the two males. "But it's getting kind of late, so we'll leave now. Thank you for the invite."
"Of course," Chan flashed a thumbs up with his dimpled smile, waving at the little girl when she walked up to her mother's side. "Thaks again for coming on such short notice... It meant a lot to us, and especially Kai."
"No problem," Jisoo too, waved, before heading for the front door, leaving just the three adults behind.
"Jeongin left a few minutes ago," Minho spoke up as he leaned against the kitchen counter, staring at both Chan and Felix with the smuggest smile, and knowing his best friend, the latter just hoped that Minho would keep his thoughts in his head. "His dog gets anxious when he's out for too long, and it's already been an entire day, so he left."
"Oh, okay... well whenever you two talk again, tell him we really appreciated everything."
"Of course," Minho said as he collected his phone and keys from the table, flashing Felix a rather noticeable wink as he strolled over to the front door. "I'll head out too; give you guys some space," he chaffed, knowing damn well that the men did nothing too intimate in their private time, yet not forsaking the humor that he'd doubtlessly gain just from bothering the younger blonde. "Bye, Chan."
"Bye," Chan chuckled, ignoring the clear meaning behind Minho's gestures to walk over to the sofa where a drowsy Kai was sitting. Smiling, he leaned down to kiss the child's forehead. "Kai-Kai, wake up. Let's get you ready for bed."
Relaxing his fragile body into his Channie's arms, while Felix stayed over in the kitchen to pack the dishes in their respective cupboards from the drainer; quite thankful to Minho for doing most of the cleaning up already, Kai nodded, laying his head on his father's shoulder.
"I'm going to clean him up, okay, Lix?"
"Yeah," Felix called from his post, careful in his volume to not wake the toddler up too much. "I'll come help tuck him in in a while. Do you have to go home for clothes? I have extra toiletries."
"Nah, as long as you have the toiletries I'm fine."
"Okay," Felix watched as Chan disappeared behind a door in the hallway, and he smiled.
And Chan smiled too, upon entering the bathroom.
That was his family.
He finally had his own little family where he no longer had to consider the presence and feelings of somebody else. It was a indeed bittersweet feeling, judging the entire process to get to that point. But it was more on the sweet side, rather than the bitter.
It was way sweeter than bitter.

"Sung," Changbin groaned, shifting his body to get Jisung off of him although he more than wanted- needed the comforting cuddles that the younger was granting him, and he honestly adored the way that his best friend only clung on tighter after each fake rejection. "You didn't have to spend the night, you know."
"Stop acting like you don't want my company," Jisung scolded, giggling and snuggling up closer to his best friend's side whilst a movie rolled on Changbin's laptop. "If I wasn't here you'd be sulking, and I don't want that. Binnie deserves to be happy too."
"I am happy, Hannie," Changbin faked a smile, ruffling the younger's hair but honestly dreading the way that Jisung could see right through him. "Stop worrying about me," he tried to rid his friend's new frown with a peck to the cheek, smiling, more sincerely that time, when Jisung blushed. "I'll be fine, m'kay?"
"It's not fair that he's happy and you're not," Jisung mumbled, laying his head on Changbin's chest and, lifting one of his feet to tangle with the latter's under their fuzzy blanket. Swallowing to continue with his risky statement, he sighed, hoping that the older would take no take offense. "I- I understand everything, but it just hurts to see you so broken still... when he's happy..."
"Hannie," Changbin sighed, running a hand through his own hair, "he deserves happiness too, okay? And it's expected that he'd move on faster... I don't hate him for that, and neither should you. I'll get there, okay? I'll be able to move on fully in the near future..."
"Binnie-"
"But I- I want you to remember that you're your own person, okay? I don't want to use you as a rebound or anything like that, so I'm taking things slow... But if you feel like moving on, do it," he forced a tight, tired smile, letting a few tears line his cheeks when Jisung shifted to engulf him in a more-than-needed hug. "Hannie," he mumbled into the other's shoulder, melting into the soft kisses that were being planted along his cheek and neck.
"I'll wait for you, for as long as I have to," Jisung pulled away to smile; his own eyes glossed with salty liquid and, his round cheeks puffed out so adorably. "I love you, Bin. And I'm not rushing you at all, okay? What're a few more years if necessary, hm?" He matched Changbin's chuckle, satisfied to see another smile, "I know you love him a lot, and it'll take time to move on from everything you had with him and Kai, so no rush, okay? I'll always be here..."
"Thank you," Changbin nodded, brushing his nose against Jisung's before connecting his lips with the latter's cheek. "You mean a lot to me..."
"You too..."
