I gasp for air as I throw my body flush against a brick wall.

My eyes close and my hearing intensifies, allowing me to focus better. I listen for footsteps, but I don't hear any.

I finally let myself breathe and I drop to the ground, sitting with my back against the wall.

"You can't escape, me Arabella, dead or alive, you are coming with me. You're mine." Alpha Landon's statement makes me cringe. He was standing in front of me only five minutes ago.

A shudder creeps up my spine.

My ears suddenly perk at the sound of a deep sigh. Without hesitation, I grab onto the fire escape next to me and begin to climb as quickly as I can.

When I reach the top, I sprint as fast as I am possibly capable of.

I can see the edge of the building, it's so close. I know what I'm going to do, I'm going to jump to the roof across the gap. I just have to make it.

2 meters left. Heavy footsteps are behind me now. 1 meter left. A growl sounds from close behind.

I'm at the edge of the building now, so I jump. For a split-second, I think I'm going to make it, but then reality is quickly slammed into me, literally.

The back of my shirt is grabbed and I'm thrown onto the solid cement of the roof-top.

"Nice try piccolo lupo--little wolf," Landon growls darkly.

I have to bite my lip hard in order to keep myself from groaning in pain. My arms shake as I push myself up from the ground.

"You may be an Alpha," my eyes meet his glowing red ones. I will mine to turn their natural electric blue color. "But I am the Lupa Bianca--white wolf."

He smirks, "That's cute, your fur may be white, but you are no Luna, much less a demi-god."

"Leave this alone, you don't want to anger my mother," I warn him, taking a step back, my heel touches the ledge.

He lunges for me, but before his claws can pierce my skin, I'm falling.

I shift in mid-air, taking on my natural wolf form. Using the side of the building across from the one I jumped from, I push off, allowing me to cushion my fall.

I hit the ground hard and rolling. Quickly I get back onto my feet and accelerate myself in the direction of the woods behind the city.

Once I'm a couple of meters inside the tree line I skid to a stop and hide behind a tree.

A second later, a midnight black wolf crosses in front of me. I lunge from my hiding spot and bite down as hard as I can into Landon's rib cage. The metallic taste of blood fills my mouth and the snapping of bones echoes in the forest.

Landon shakes me off and I jump backward, snarling, ready to fight.

Before either one of us could lunge, a bolt of lightning strikes between us, causing the earth to shake and our bodies to go flying backward. 

Then the world goes dark.
