Sadie Maybank was an outcast, someone deemed indifferent in the eyes of others. She had always been quiet, a little too quiet for anyone's liking, and she never made friends easily, always sitting alone in class, or sitting at a bench colouring away in her own little world.

She wasn't like any other kid, they said, but she was still a kid. Someone who wanted to play the seesaw, or swing around the swings with other kids. She wanted all of it, but she didn't know how to have it.

Sadie was always taught that she wasn't like other kids. Her family was different than others. Luke Maybank was cruel, and sometimes almost laid a hand on her. JJ Maybank would seem careless toward her, or didn't pay attention to her at all.

Her family viewed her differently, which made her develop a personality of apathy to drive people away, to keep them away from her so she would not have to get too close to them and for them to possibly see what she truly was ( which she didn't even know ), and end up leaving.

Her family couldn't accept her, so then who would?

Her answers were found in a stack of papers hidden in the depths of Luke Maybank's desk drawers.
