Somin woke up in a pitch-black room. Her body was shaking with terror but she didn't know what was the cause. She wasn't remembering something. She tried to recall what happened before and how she ended up in this unfamiliar place but it was like her memories were deleted.
With great difficulty, she eventually managed to calm herself down enough to think rationally. Her memories resurfaced in snippets. Red moon. It was night. They were together. They.
Matthew. Jiwoo! JOSEPH!
She remembered the blood and screams but not what created it. Panic once again took over her body, this time triggering her fight or flight instincts rather than freezing her in a spot.
"Joseph!" she yelled out, her own voice sounding unfamiliar and distorted. She got up from some kind of platform she was lying on and ran. She had no idea where she was running to as everything around the place she woke in was completely dark, without any source of light or anything else for that matter.
Still, she ran. She ran for what felt like forever while screaming three names over and over on top of her lungs. In no time she couldn't see anything, having run too far from the only sort of illuminated place. That didn't stop her and she continued running, even faster. Halfway through she realized she was barefoot and that the floor was an extremely weird texture. It almost felt like foam - it wasn't completely solid and it was as if she wasn't even actually touching the ground, as if the gravity was weaker. On the other hand, the air around her seemed unnaturally heavy. It was more similar to running while fully submerged in water.
She tried to focus on running rather than letting her mind run wild but the whole situation seemed like a bad dream, and she wished she could wake up.
And just as she was about to stop, a voice called out her name.
"Joseph?" she questioned, noticing a dim light in the distance. She picked up her pace once again, the voice that she was sure belonged to Joseph sounding again.
The moment she was close enough, she threw herself onto him, engulfing him in a hug.
"Somin! Are you okay?"
"Are you?" She pulled back, taking in his appearance. He was wearing a red silk shirt, something very different from his usual dressing style, and definitely out of his paycheck. She realized she was dressed in similar red attire that definitely didn't belong to her.
"Aside from being completely lost... I guess," he shrugged.
"Yeah... Where are we?"
"More importantly - how did we get here? Do you remember anything from last night?"
"Was it last night? Who knows how long we've been here. I just remember we were with Matthew and Jiwoo. And... blood."
"What in the hell happened to us. Are we dead?"
"Are we in hell?"
"Correct," an unfamiliar voice spoke from the darkness.
"Who's there?" Joseph yelled out, Somin pressing closer to him.
"What a disgrace for the betrotheds of His Majesty," the deep, almost demonic voice spoke again before they felt its presence disappear.
Before they could question it, they heard a familiar voice calling out to them.
"Somin, Joseph, are you here?"
"Matthew!"
"I finally found you," he appeared before them almost out of nowhere. He caressed both of their face with each of his hands, loving eyes taking in their appearance. They instantly relaxed into his touch and Matthew felt a pang in his heart remembering what he had done to them.
"Matt, do you know where we are?"
"And where's Jiwoo? Is she okay? What happened?"
Matthew swallowed hard. "I'll explain everything soon. But first, we need to find Jiwoo."
"And how are we gonna do that, we're literally nowhere?" Just as Joseph asked the question, the darkness around them disappeared, leaving them in a normal-sized room with vibrant red walls and not much of anything else. Somin and Joseph didn't waste too much time studying their surroundings because they saw Jiwoo lying on the couch placed in the middle of the room.
"Jiwoo!" Hearing their voices seemed to wake her up and she opened her eyes.
"You arrived..." she said, taking a deep breather and sitting normally, appearing to be almost sad.
"Why did you say it like that?" Joseph asked.
"Yeah, is it a bad thing we're here? Where is here anyways?" Somin turned to question Matthew.
"Isn't it obvious? Hell," Jiwoo answered them.
"We're dead? All of us?"
"You don't remember?" Matthew questioningly glanced at Joseph who shook his head no.
"No. How did this happen?" Somin pipped in, desperately holding on to the last shred of her sanity that was keeping her from blowing up at the insanity of the situation.
"Um, well there are a few things you need to know first."
"And those are...?"
"Um, well, I don't really know how to say this... but uh..."
"Oh for pity's sake. He's the son of the King of Hell and I'm technically a demon," Jiwoo finished instead of him. "And he chose us three as his spouses, someone to rule over inferno by his side," she added like it was the most normal thing you could say to someone.
"Uhhh... We're going to need a bit more explaining than that."
"Yeah."
