The Irate Blockade
A/N: As usual, I would recommend putting the video on loop.
There was another loud slam against metal, and the older creature practically growled at his restraints. The younger had his hands securing Callest's neck and right wrist to the elevator, but Callest kept his left nails in Ether's midsection. "You idiot! Are you really going to let yourself fall this far?! Helping not only her but also all of them!" Callest tried to break free, but Ether pressed his hands in more. His left nails stabbed into the metal doors of the elevator, pinning Callest's right wrist all the more into the metal, and his right hand tightened more against his neck; though, that barely restrained the elder's airway.
"You're the idiot; you didn't even notice two humans jumping you until it was too late!" Ether mocked back, a bit of blood escaping from his lips in the process. He coughed it up on Callest's dark blue button-up, and more came out when Callest started to move his nails up into Ether.
No response left Callest, but it was clear that his anger was rising. "You're really making it hard not to kill you." His nails were approaching Ether's ribs. "I just wanted to ..." Ether tightened his hold more. "... Punish you." Callest's neck snapped, but his nails continued traveling up. Knowing that he didn't have enough time, Ether reluctantly released his hold and pushed his hands against Callest's chest. He shoved himself off of the elder's nails and took several steps back as his wounds began to heal.
Neck repairing itself, Callest briefly glanced out the windows. He couldn't see them yet. They were still on the stairs. His eyes snapped in that direction, and he charged towards the stairs. Ether, well aware of the elder's goal, went straight for him. At the last moment, however, Callest veered towards the windows. Curse words streamed from Ether's mouth before he ended up growling in the process. There was no way he was going to let him get to his pink flower.
Before Callest could leap out of the window, Ether tackled him to the floor. The two tumbled across the cement flooring before Ether pinned Callest to the ground. A displeased grin fell on Callest's lips. "Pathetic. Protecting her like this." Cement crumbled around the elder's wrists as the younger forced them into the flooring. "You're so focused on her that you left yourself wide open." With no hesitation, Callest tilted his head right and clamped his teeth around Ether's left wrist.
Eyes lighting with rage and slight panic, Ether released Callest's left wrist and punched him straight in the head. Bone cracked, but it wasn't hard enough to knock him out, and Ether couldn't have made it stronger since Callest brought his left hand up and tore through part of the younger's right upper arm; however, Ether had his left wrist back. The bone could be seen, but the skin quickly was repairing itself.
Getting off of Callest, Ether created some distance while his wrist and arm healed. Callest rubbed his head a bit before his skull fixed itself. "I saw the setup you had at that woman's place. A morgue with corpses, just waiting to be eaten." He grinned, but it was disgusted. "Perfect but also vile. They're keeping food for you as though you're some pet waiting for its food dish to be refilled." His eyes narrowed. "You're letting them turn you into some soft excuse of our kind."
"If I was so soft, I would be dead right now. I'm just as strong as you." Ether rubbed his left nails together. "And, I'm not their pet. I made a deal with them. I get a constant supply of food and a nice home while they get to keep their lives."
"You had that before and more in the tunnels." Ether didn't respond immediately, and Callest smirked, but he wasn't pleased that he was right. If anything, it only made him more upset. "You had a feast. I hated how you drew such attention to our kind, but I hate that you're now submitting yourself to humans more. Just admit it; you let yourself become weak so that you could gain the affections of that human. You made that deal so that you could be close to her and hope that one day she would return your feelings."
Ether's left nails nearly stabbed through his hand. "Wrong. She took my home from me, so I planned to take hers from her. It developed from there."
"You're missing the point. You still let her in. You went after her, and instead of killing her, you became her unwanted roommate." Callest took a step back. "And over time, you what? You slowly grew closer and closer until you found yourself in this position. You're a disgrace." He stepped back more, and Ether knew exactly what he was planning.
"So what?" Ether now stepped forward. "I love her; get over it already and stop interfering." A primal growl parted from his lips. "You nearly killed her the last time, and I won't let that happen again. You keep speaking about punishment. You keep calling me pathetic." His nails scratched against each other. "But, you're forgetting about your own punishment. The one that I owe your pathetic self, you the one who's so pathetic that he can't keep himself out of others lives and understand that he's not wanted there."
"That's your problem, Ether." Callest didn't look intimidated or hurt in the slightest. "You think that I care about being wanted. No, I care about correcting a grave mistake one of my species made. Since no others will, I'll take up that post, and I'll make sure that human and you get what you deserve." Swiftly, he turned on his heel and went out the window. Just as quickly, Ether bolted and jumped through the air. His hands gripped Callest's ankles as glass broke.
Yells and scratches sounded as Callest fought to break free. Ether ripped him back in and chucked him across the room. Callest's back hit the far back left pillar. It almost crumbled under the impact. Picking himself up, Callest glared and released his own growl. Both of them charged at the other. The rough collision caused them to roll across the ground and towards the door leading to the stairs.
Pushing Callest off of him, Ether recovered to his feet and blocked the door while Callest got to his own feet. "I'm not letting you through, you piece of sh*t," Ether breathed out, his left nails ready to stab the older creature again.
"You don't have to. I'm getting to her one way or another. You're going to witness the death of that vile woman." Callest charged forward. Hands met hands, and both creatures locked into place. Teeth began to show, and cement crumbled underneath their feet. Just before the older creature could press harder, Ether did so. He used that moment to lean into Callest and lift his feet off of the ground. Both of his feet impacted the elder's midsection while his arms threw Callest overhead.
Landing on his feet, he spun on his heels and grabbed Callest by the shoulders. The older creature, though, held onto Ether's wrists at the last moment. Ether already had gone to throw him. In the process, the older took the younger with him. Where Callest hit his back, Ether fell flat on his face. Speedily, Callest formed a fist and punched downwards. Just in time, Ether rolled out of the way while Callest ripped his hand from the cement. Blood dripped, but it didn't do so for long as skin healed.
Not hesitating, Ether swiped his left hand through the air as he lied on the ground. His nails cut through skin and almost reached bone. Callest grunted from pain and from losing his balance. The cuts across his ankles healed, but he had fallen onto the ground. Ether got back up to his feet and aimed for Callest's heart. Quickly, Callest moved to his right, and his left hand grabbed Ether's right wrist.
Using Ether's momentum against him, Callest flung him into the nearby pillar. Cement fell off, and Ether collapsed into a ball at the base of it. On his feet again, the elder stepped forward and lifted the younger up. "It's time you get knocked out again while I get your dearest partner," he voiced, the last three words drenched in venom.
"Ha!" Ether giggled out darkly. "Like I'm going to let that happen!" Bringing up his hands, he gripped the elder's left forearm and dug his nails in. Left stabbed through with ease, and his right dug in slowly. Callest tried to shake him off, but Ether held on and began to pull. Immediately, Callest let him go, but Ether utilized that moment to split Callest's forearm and hand in two. A shrill, haunting cry pierced the factory building.
On his feet, Ether struck his left hand forward, but Callest grabbed it in time with his right. He broke Ether's wrist as his eyes burned with wrath. Ether's grip was lost, and Callest stumbled back as he held his forearm together. It began to heal, but Ether charged forward again. Needing more time, Callest dodged attack after attack, which increased Ether's fury.
When Ether came at him from the front the next time, Callest positioned himself. He waited, and he threw himself to his right. Ether tried to stop himself, but he crashed straight into the elevator doors. The force was so strong that he went through them and into the elevator. All of the cords pulled, and one snapped, but the rest held. Groaning, Ether picked himself up, and he saw Callest running for the closest window again.
Hurriedly, he leaped up onto his feet and dashed out of the elevator. Callest already was out the window. Glass had shattered, and he was on his way towards the snow below. Ether, though, jumped out just behind him. His left hand was outstretched and grabbed Callest's right ankle. The younger, quickly, plunged his right hand through the second story window, and Callest hit the wall below as he dangled in air. Shouts of fury parted from him while Ether used his strength to lift Callest up and throw the elder in through the window. More glass shattered, and Ether hauled himself up in through the broken window. He landed on his feet and pulled out the glass from his right hand while Callest had gotten back on his feet. Both soon bore no injuries, just ruined clothes and dried blood.
