The Wetter Embrace
A/N: As usual, I would recommend putting the video on loop.
"Well, isn't this interesting?" the creature giggled out. "I never expected you to cling to me. That Terry girl is another case." A low, frightening giggle parted from it. "Oh, I have something special planned for her." Leon didn't answer; he simply focused on holding onto the creature so that he wouldn't fall into the pit below them, and he needed a way to get away from the creature too, which unfortunately wasn't looking so decent at the moment.
Leon tried to analyze his surroundings and if there was anything he could use to climb across the wall and to the other hall, but he couldn't see at all. Only the pitch blackness of the chamber greeted his optics. "I do have to congratulate you on actually stabbing me, but," the creature giggled once more, "you lost your knife and your flashlight." He practically could hear the smirk in the creature's tone. "That's got to suck."
Instead of answering, Leon risked reaching out his right hand to try and feel for the wall. "Oh, are you going to attempt to climb now?" A scowl coated his lips. The creature only was trying to get on his nerves and get a reaction out of him so that he would slip up. "Here's the thing about that." Leon paused before he nearly panicked when the creature shifted. "Even if you could," its right hand shot out, "I wouldn't let you."
Instantly, it clasped its hand around his wrist and ripped him from it. It dangled Leon over the abyss, and Leon suspected that it was grinning once more. He was thankful in that moment that he couldn't view the thing's face. "I could kill you right now if I wanted to, but where would the fun in that be?" Its tone took on more of an entertained, bloodthirsty one. "Rather, let's do some research." Leon felt paralyzed.
"Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that." The creature shook Leon a little but didn't drop him even though Leon reached his other hand up to grab onto the creature's arm. "Your friend Oliver told me all about you three." A giggle parted from the creature when it noticed Leon's expression contort into one of anger. "It's only because his mind grew foggy from the torture. He still won't tell me my pink flower's location or that of the ..." From its mouth escaped a rough sigh, and it sounded beyond enraged at whatever it was about to mention.
"That doesn't matter to you, though. What does is that Oliver eventually caved into telling me more about you three and your desires." Momentarily, the creature released its grip on the wall, and they plummeted down. Leon couldn't help but scream. His cry echoed all throughout the room and potentially might've even reached Gretchen and Terry. The creature, though, soon stabbed his nails back into the wall, and Leon thought that his wrist would break from the sudden stop. Thankfully, it didn't.
"Ah, that was satisfying," the creature giggled out, watching Leon catch his breath. "That wasn't the research, though. No, I want to try something else, something more dangerous for you." Leon directed his gaze to wherever he thought the creature's face was. "Think of it as a thank you present for wanting to experiment on me like some lab rat." Its tone had turned more deadly than before, and Leon only could imagine the wicked grin on its lips. "I'm going to throw you and see if you make it to the other hall."
Before Leon could utter a word, the creature swung his body back before it released him into the air. Again, another scream left him, and he expected to be smashed against some wall. Instead, the wind got knocked out of him from him impacting the ground. His hands gripped the rocky floor painfully, and he groaned as he rolled himself onto his stomach. Nothing felt broken, but no doubt dark bruises would join the scrapes on his body. He couldn't feel any blood dripping down him, though, which was a good sign.
Steadily, he picked himself up, using the wall as support. More grunts of pain parted from him, and he heard the giggles in the chamber behind him. "Well, what do you know?! You can fly quite a distance!" The creature whistled soon after before Leon heard fast-paced movement. He didn't have much longer before the creature joined him in the new hall.
Forcing his legs to carry him forward, he winced when his legs protested against the exertion, but he dealt with it. His hands pressed against the wall to utilize it as a guide, and he really wished that he still had his flashlight. "How long do you think you'll last like this?" the creature asked from behind him, and it sounded incredibly close. "In the dark. No light. A murderous being behind you." It tsked. "Things aren't looking in your favor, but they never should've in the first place." Its tone became low again.
"Someone who thinks that he can come into my life and pull me away from my partner and love." It scraped its nails across the wall. Leon covered his ears out of weakness and leaned against the wall fully as he continued to move. A rock hit his right arm hard and on one of the forming bruises, which caused him to curse loudly. His mind tried not to concentrate on the soreness of his body or the creature's words, but the thing must've been talking about (f/n) given its past interest in her.
"I haven't pulled you away," Leon weakly answered, some of his confidence reemerging. "You're already away from her." The harsh scraping stopped, and it went dead silent behind him. He didn't look back; he kept moving. Unfortunately, the ends of his feet hit air, and he halted immediately. Somewhat, he backed up and felt for the other wall. It was a drop there too.
Soft footfalls hit his ears. "I may be, but you four would've kept me from her permanently." A maddening giggle left it. "And, I will get her back. (F/n) can't outrun and hide from me for forever." The creature popped its neck. "And, I just can't have that." It giggled more. "It pisses me off just thinking about what you four planned, especially since she's not here with me."
Its steps stopped. "But, let's perform some more research, Leon," it practically hissed out now. "How likely are you to race forward and take a leap of faith? Or, will you try to get around me and shuffle along the wall in darkness? Which option will fear drive you to do?" It rolled its shoulders and a dreadful pop sounded in the space.
Finally, Leon couldn't hold back a gulp. He had no idea what was in front of him, but he was certain that the creature wouldn't just let him pass and run back the way they came. Clenching his hands, he stepped back some, cautious of running into the creature accidentally. A sharp nail soon pressed against his back. "Take another step back, and you fight me." Its tone was inhumanly low, and its giggle sounded as though something had been conjured up from the underworld. Leon wondered if that actually was the case with the creature's origins, but he didn't have time to ponder that too much. He could research that later if he made it out of this.
Knowing full well that the creature would kill him if he did walk back more, Leon ignored his nerves and raced forward. His feet lifted into the air, and he tried to grasp at anything at he went flying. Eventually, the wind got knocked out of him again. He landed straight onto some rounded rock. Instantly, his hands clung onto it, and he tried to pick himself up, but his feet kept slipping. Clapping echoed throughout the space.
"I didn't think that you'd actually make it to the first rock!" the creature giggled out, its tone slightly higher pitched again. "You only have four more to go before you reach the other side!" Leon didn't know if the creature was messing with him or if it was being truthful. He kicked his feet up again, and one of them broke a chip off from the rock. A splash resonated about ten seconds later. Once again, he was above a massive pit. His stomach dropped, but he did manage to pull his feet up.
"So, my first hypothesis was supported," the creature remarked casually as if he was talking to a lab partner. Leon knew the tone was to mock him. "I figured you a coward, so you wouldn't fight me. Instead, you would run and jump. And, you did!" The creature clapped again. "Unfortunately," its giggle became callous, "I hypothesize that you won't make it past that rock."
Scowling, Leon carefully stood to his feet. He had no idea how far the next rock was, exactly where it was or if there even was one. If he jumped back, he expected that he'd have nails stabbing through his chest. Panic was creeping into his veins, but he managed to hold it off for a little longer. The creature began to hum in the background. Leon didn't know what song, but it was definitely not helping his situation. The tune was unnerving and sounded like some demented child's song.
With little options presented to him, he steeled himself and shuffled his feet back only a little. Nearly, he lost his balance. Leon stared forward before he raced forward and leaped off of the rock. Hands forward, his fingertips gripped onto something, but he didn't have the strength to pull himself up; he was ... he was ... slipping! "No, no, no!" Leon cried out as he lost his grip. He tried to grab onto anything after, but his body began to fall downwards.
Loud, penetrating screams bounced off all of the walls, and the creature grinned. "One, two, three," the creature began to count down, "four, five, six." The cries for help continued. "Seven, eight, nine." One last cry of pure and absolute terror crashed against the walls of the chamber. "Ten." A booming, sickening splash followed. A grin stretched across the creature's lips. "Looks like my second hypothesis was right."
Spinning on his heel, the creature began to head back towards the other two. "Thanks for the research," he called back as he lifted up his left hand and waved it. It fell back to his side shortly after, and he placed it back into the one pocket before he began to hum that tune again.
